Chapter One Hundred Sixty Three

"Do you know how disappointed I am right now," my father said from across the table. I glanced up at him only to shift my eyes once I met his.

"I didn't mean to," I said quietly.

"You didn't mean to do what? Kill someone? That's not a mistake you make Ji Nan."

"I know, but I-"

"You what," he said raising his voice! "Do you know how many people I had to pay off just for you to be sitting in this fucking house."

Of course he only cared about how much money he had to spend. It wasn't like I asked him to bail me out. I was going to take my punishment like a man.

"I know."

He let out a sigh and slowly got up. He walked over to me and put a hand on my shoulder.

"Ji Nan." I looked up at him, "don't ever do this again."

I nodded, "understood."

When I came to I heard the soft sound of someone's voice. I kept my eyes closed and just listened to the pained voice call my name. I tried to remember what had happened but I couldn't. I slowly opened my eyes and looked around the room. I was definitely in Ba Wei's room. I looked at the side of the bed to see Ba Wei with his head laid down. His eyes were closed. His hand was intertwined with mine, and I slightly squeezed it. His eyes snapped open and we immediately made eye contact.

"Ji Nan?" His voice was soft as he called my name. It was as if he was questioning if I was actually awake.

"Hmm?" As soon as that soft sound left my lips his arms wrapped around me.

"You fucking scared me," he said as he pulled back to look at me. he pushed the hair that had been in my face behind my ears as he scanned my face.

"I'm sorry," I cleared my throat. "Are you alright?" I reached out and touched his face. "You look like you haven't slept."

He had dark circles under his eyes, his skin was pale, and his hair looked like he hadn't washed it. I furrowed my eyebrows at his drastic change in appearance.

"I should be asking you that," he sighed out. "You've been out for two days. How can I sleep when you..."

He trailed off at the end and shifted his eyes. I couldn't help the pain that hit my heart just looking at him in such a state. He looked so vulnerable sitting beside the bed. I pulled his hand up and kissed it.

"I'm okay."

He was silent for a few minutes, "Ji Nan when I walked into that room and saw you unconscious it felt like everything in the world stopped. You were bleeding so much. I held your body in my arms for I don't even know how long."

"Ba-"

"My father had to pry me off just to get you to the car to bring you here and get you to a doctor." He looked up at me and tears started streaming down his face. "I thought I lost you."

I pulled him into my arms, and winced slightly at the quick movements. My vision blurred for a second but I just closed my eyes and focused on trying to calm the man in my arms.

"I'm okay. I'm still here. I'm not going anywhere."

I just let him cry in my arms until he was satisfied. My heart was in pieces listening to his sobs. I laid my head on top of his and after a while he stopped. He pushed away from me and just stared at me. I wiped the last tears that fell away with my thumb. He let go of my hand and touched my face. I watched as he scanned my body.

"I'm okay," I reassured him.

I said that but I didn't know if I was or not. My head was a little sore, but I didn't feel terrible or anything. Ba Wei said I was out for two days. If that's true what has happened in those two days. What happened to that guy.

"Ba Wei," I called softly. He looked up at me, "did you find that guy?"

He was silent for a second, "Him, and that little bitch that was helping him too."

I cocked an eyebrow, "You mean Yaling?"

"Yeah, but we found someone else who was helping him too. We think it's his mom, but we can't be sure until we track her down."

I sat there trying to wrap my head around the information that he just dumped on me, He seemed to notice because he let out a chuckle and ran his hand through my hair. It felt good until his hand hit a sensitive part of my head. I winced and he immediately removed it.

"I'm sorry. I should've known it was still sensitive."

"It's fine. More over if you found that guy. Where is he."

"He's on the grounds somewhere along with Yaling. My father refuses to tell me where."

I cocked an eyebrow, "Why?"

"You think he'd still be breathing if I knew where he was."

"That is a valid point," I said letting out a little chuckle.

"I missed hearing that."

His voice was soft as he said that and his eyes reflected that as he once again looked me over. I couldn't help but feel guilty that I called him in such a battered state. I know I had really no choice but seeing how he looked in front of me, I couldn't help but feel weird about it. I looked down at our intertwined hands and let out a sigh.

"I worried you," I started, "I'm sorry."

"Baby you don't have to apologize. It's not something thats your fault."

"But-"

"No buts," he said cutting me off. "Stop thinking about unnecessary things. The more important thing is are you hungry?" I nodded and a smile spread across his face. "Is there anything you want in particular?"

"Surprise me."

He was about to leave, but I kept a firm hold on his hand. He looked at me confused and I smiled.

"What are you smiling for?"

"Come here."

He cocked an eyebrow but still got closer to me. When he was close enough I kissed him. His body stiffened but when I nibbled his bottom lip he relaxed. When we pulled apart I placed a few more pecks on him.

"Bring me something good."

"If you want something good, I'm right here," he flirted.

I let out a full laugh, "go get the food."

He didn't say anything and just smiled and made his way out of the room. I looked around for a few seconds before deciding to get up. As I slid out the bed I was surprised I had pants on. I don't know why, but I just thought that Ba Wei would just keep me in one of his shirts.

It was a funny thought to be having while trying to get out of bed. My legs felt stiff as I put weight in them. I was a bit scared to fully put my weight in them. What if I fell? I'd look even more powerless than I already was.

Without any other option I sat back down the mattress. I let out a sigh and slightly moved my legs. Each time I did my knee would pop, I don't like anatomy but I knew that's not a good sign. I reached behind my head and slightly touched the spot that made me wince earlier. As I felt around I was pretty sure that what I was feeling were staples.

I would say that the wound didn't need such a serious thing but the way Ba Wei described how he found me flashed in my mind. I couldn't imagine finding him like that. He said his father had to pry him off me. I wonder what his father thinks of me now. I wonder if he'll disapprove of me now.

My spiraling thoughts were interrupted by the sound of voices getting closer. I looked up to see Ba Wei, Kang Wu, and to my surprise Ba Wei's father.

"Oh look, sleeping beauty is awake pops"

I heard his comment but decided to just let it be. I was more focused on the food that Ba Wei was carrying. It looked to be a spread of various dishes. He sat the tray that he was carrying at the end of the bed.

"Did you guys have to come and ruin the peace and quiet."

"You know I had to. I had to see if your darling was awake."

"Go fuck yourself, and you see that he is awake so leave."

"I have oth-,"

"Boys," Ba Weis father called, "stop bickering like children."

I couldn't help but smile at the slight frown that had made it's way onto his face. I watched as he looked me over.

"How are you feeling son?"

The room seemed to go completely silent as those words left Ba Weis fathers mouth. I scratched the back of my neck and looked at Ba Wei. He shrugged so I just answered.

"Yes, I'm alright. Despite a headache I'm completely fine."

"See Ba Wei. The threats were not necessary," Kang Wu said.

I let out a laugh, "Ba Wei you didn't."

He handed me a cup of tea, "I didn't threaten him."

"So he's lying?"

He glanced at Kang Wu then back at me, "yea he is."

"Well that's goo-"

"I threatened my father," he said nonchalantly cutting me off.

I was stunned at the sentence but his father didn't seem to mind that much. He actually had no reaction at all. I cocked a eyebrow and just looked at Ba Wei. He seemed to understand my confusion and looked at his father.

"Do you have a issue with me threatening you."

"Ba Wei," I said quickly.

"It's fine Ji Nan," his father said with a laugh. "No, I completely understand. I should've had someone watching over you that night, so his anger is valid."

"He still shouldn't threaten you. He's just being a brat," Kang Wu said.

"Did anyone say anything to Kang Wu," Ba Wei asked.

I just sat there and listened to them bicker back and forth and couldn't help but feel comfort. Comfort in the people around me. The part that had always felt hollow since my parent split felt full. I felt like I had a family.

"Ji Nan help me out here," Ba Wei said pulling me out of my thoughts.

"What am I helping with?"

"Kang Wu is saying that my father has better taste in clothing than me. Do you think so?"

"That's not what I said dumbass."

"You basically said that."

I shook my head, "I'm with Kang Wu on this one. His looks may not compare to yours but his attire does drastically outweigh yours."

"See Bastard! I told you dad."

"Fuck all of you," Ba Wei said laughing.

"Don't be a sore loser," Ba Weis father said with a smile on his face.

He seemed a bit proud that he won that little comparison. Looking between father and son I couldn't really tell you what was similar besides their looks. Their style of dress were complete opposites of each other. Ba Wei usually wore a street style of dress while his father was always well dressed. He always wore suits, even now looking at his appearance there wasn't a single hair out of place. Maybe he's a perfectionist?

I was deep in thought when a phone started ringing. Everyone stopped talking immediately once they realized it was Ba Weis fathers. He quickly picked up and he barely gave a response. After a few minutes he hung up and let out a sigh.

"I don't want to damper the mood but we figured out the name of the woman who was helping the guy we picked up."

"And," Ba Wei asked?"

"Chunhua," he said, "Song Chunhua to be exact."
