Chapter One Hundred Sixty Five
Let's Not Fall In Love(我们不要坠入爱河)
When we woke up later it was dark outside. I had thought Ba Wei would have asked about the phone call again, but he didn't. Instead he just was very clingy. I didn't mind much because I enjoyed having him with me. Since we woke up he didn't take his hands off me. He followed me to the bathroom, then to the kitchen and now into the living room. It was like he was scared to let go of me. We were sitting on the couch watching some random show. He had one of his hands on my thigh and the other on my shoulder.
"Can you give me a little space."
He didn't even look at me but he moved away from me. I raised an eyebrow and glanced him over. He seemed a bit upset. It didn't show on his face, but I knew from how he was sitting that he was irritated. I reached out and grabbed his hand. I was expecting him to snatch it away, but he didn't.
"Hey."
"What?"
"Why are you pouting?"
He didn't say anything and just pulled his hand away. I couldn't help but to chuckle a bit. I tried to grab it again. but he dodged it. I was about to say something, but decided to do something else. I got up and this seemed to peak his interest. He was about to say something, but before he could I climbed onto his lap. As soon as I sat on him his hands went to my waist.
"I thought you wanted space?"
"I did," I pushed his bangs out it his face, "but you didn't seem to like that."
"I didn't mind."
I leaned down and kissed him, "really? So you weren't just pouting?" He didn't say anything and just smiled. "That's not a no."
"Don't make fun of me."
"I'm not. I just thought it was cute."
He didn't say anything and just laid his head back. He just stared up at me, and I shifted my eyes. His hands that were resting on my waist slowly slid up and down my side.
"Don't say things like that when I can't touch you."
"I never said you couldn't."
"I know you didn't. I'm telling you I'm not going to."
"What? Does the thought of that guy touching me ma-"
"Stop right there," he said cutting me off, "it has nothing to do with that." He reached up and caressed the side of my face. "I don't want to hurt you more. You just woke up."
I couldn't help the smile that spread across my face. I leaned up and kissed him, "you're so cute when you're worried." He didn't say anything and just pushed me a bit.
"Get up."
"Why?"
"Do you want to be pinned on this chair," he asked as he forced me off his lap? I crossed my arms and watched as he got up.
"Maybe."
I said it so low that I thought Ba Wei didn't hear me, but judging by how he smirked at me I knew he had.
"Ji nan."
"Hm?"
"Don't tempt me."
"Alright. Alright. I'll behave."
I watched as he was walked into the kitchen. He leaned against the counter and just looked at me. I cocked an eyebrow and looked him up and down.
"Do you want to talk to that guy?"
"That came out of nowhere."
I got up from the couch and made my way over to him. I walked up to him and pressed my body against his and wrapped my arms around his neck.
"I'm just asking."
"And you're not asking so you can go too."
He shifted his eyes, "no..."
I laughed, "don't be so cute."
"Is that a no?"
"No it's not. I have something I want to ask him anyway."
He wrapped his arms around my waist and lifted me off the ground. Without thinking I wrapped my legs around his waist. He seemed surprised by my action but just leaned in and kissed me. He seemed like he was happy that I said yes. I had a feeling that he wanted to go see the guy, but needed a good enough reason. He had said that If he knew where he was, he would've already killed him. He really is like a kid.
"I told you to behave remember."
I sucked my teeth, but still unwrapped my legs. As soon as my feet touched the ground I pushed away from him. I wasn't mad, just annoyed. I could tell by how he was acting that he wanted to touch me. I didn't mind, but for some reason he did. Sure my head was a bit sore but I'm not that fragile. Him not wanting to touch me made me feel weird. Without his touch, it was lonely...
"Can you call your father," I asked walking back over the sofa?
"We can just walk down to his floor. He's in the living room probably."
I could tell by how still his voice was that he was trying his best not to ask about my attitude. I found it interesting because usually he's persistent when he wants answers out of me.
"Okay. Let's go then."
He didn't say anything and just started walking over to the door. I got up and only then did he open the door. He motioned for me to go first and as I stepped out he followed behind me.
When the door clicked behind him he said, "the attitude will be addressed later."
I was taken aback by the sudden comment. I wanted to ask what he meant but he was already halfway down the stairs. I sighed and followed after. We walked down the stairs then to the left into a large open room. There was a large tv that took up most of the wall in that room, and sure e rough Ba Wei's father was present.
"Oh this is unusual," his father started, "what brings the two of you down."
"He wants to talk to that guy."
Ba Wei said it coldly to his father, and I watched as he ran a hand through his hair. His father glanced over at me then back at him and sighed.
"Are you wanting to be present Xiao Wei?"
"What do you think?"
"You know exactly why I asked that question."
"I'm not letting him go in there by himself."
"If you kill him, it'll be bad."
"I'm not going to touch him."
His father glanced at me, "did he talk you into this?"
"No. he brought it up and I agreed."
"hmm, okay. Why do you want to talk to him?"
I cocked an eyebrow, "isn't that a dumb question?"
"I suppose so, but I still need to hear your reason."
"I just want to clear the air."
A small smile tugged on his lips. I knew he caught on to what I was insinuating. I knew Ba Wei did too. I watched as his father got up from his seat and turned and started walking. Me and Ba Wei followed him through this well furnished floor to a door at the end of a long hall. I was wondering how he would open the door since it didn't have a handle but a loud buzzer rung out through the room and the door swung open. He turned to us and motioned for us to go inside.
"My men will show you to the cell."
"I'm surprised you're not going to be present old man?"
"I have to go make some phone calls." Ba Wei just nodded. "Also, if you beat him unconscious my guards will do the same to you."
"Pfft. They can try."
After that he started to leave. Ba Wei walked into the room without hesitation and I followed closely behind him. I had thought it would be dark but it wasn't. It was more just dim. As soon as we entered the door slammed shut behind us and I immediately felt eyes on me. All along the wall were men, very big ones at that. They were dressed in very well tailored suits. They bowed to us as we walked by but remained very still. I grabbed Ba Weis hand and squeezed it a bit.
He turned to me, "it's protocol for them to do this. Relax."
Just as he finished saying that one of the guards stepped from the wall. He was a tall, buff man, with slicked back hair. Ba Wei stopped walking and the man bowed.
"Hello young master. It's not often we see your presence down in the chambers."
"I usually have no reason to come, but my guy needs to speak to the most recent."
The man just nodded and turned and started waking again. We followed behind him for a few more minutes before we started passing large metal doors. I cocked a eyebrow but didn't ask any questions. We passed about five more before the man stopped. The door didn't have a handle and I was confused on why. I watched as he placed his palm to the back of the door and pressed down on it. There was a click, and the door slid open.
"What the fuck is this place," I asked confused.
Ba Wei glanced at me then back at the man, "Is he loose or chained?"
"He's chained to the wall."
That was all he said before he walked off. Ba Wei glanced over at me and even though I didn't know it, I was shaking. He put his hand on my shoulder and pulled me close to him.He grabbed my hand and walked into the room. As soon as we entered the lights clicked on and my eyes widened. There he was, chained to the wall in the middle of the room. Looking at his condition, someone definitely beat him. He had bruises all over his arms that were exposed and what I could see of his face looked terrible.
"You, get up!"
Ba Wei's voice was loud and it caused the boy to jump. I let go of Ba Wei's hand and walked closer to him. I watched as he slowly lifted his head and soon as our eyes met he smiled.
"Aww thee pretty boy has come to see little ole me."
"Don't flatter yourself Zuo Xuo. You know why I'm here."
"I'm not sure what you're referring too," he said with a hoarse voice.
I tried my best to hide my anger but I knew Ba Wei could see it. He hadn't said a word since he woke him up. In fact he was just standing still in the middle of the room. He looked very focused on something, and judging on who he was staring at; it wasn't the good kind.
"Your mom..."
"What about her," he said with a laugh.
"Why is she engaged to my father?"
