Chapter Eighty-Eight

Let's Not Fall In Love(我们不要坠入爱河)

When I walked out into the busy night street I immediately regretted it. The noise, the lights, the people all made my already bad mood worse. As I began to walk down the street I continued to look for nearby hotels. Every now and then I would look up and make sure I didn't run into anyone and as I would do this I would constantly catch people staring. It wasn't like I cared but for them to get caught and still stare was a bit annoying.

After walking for a few minutes I finally found a hotel that I liked. I walked to the side of the street and leaned up against the wall of a building and clicked on the directions. It was only a block away from where I was already. If I started walking there now I should get there in around ten minutes.

Just as I was about to push off the wall my phone started to vibrate and as soon as I saw the first two digits I clicked the power button. I let out a sigh and pushed off from the wall and started making my way to the hotel.

When I got there the lobby was almost empty, but as I glanced around the very lavish looking room I noticed the door to a bar. Thats probably where everyone is; hell I could use a drink.

I pushed those thoughts to the back of my mind and made my way to the counter. As the receptionist laid her eyes on me she seemed somewhat confused. She was a beautiful woman. Long black silky hair and from what I could see a very nice body. I could be wrong since I could only see her upper half and she put her chest on full display with the v-neck shirt she wore.

"Can I help you with something sir," she asked kindly.

"I would like to book a room."

"Okay. Would you like a regular room or would you like a suite or any other type of special room."

"A regular room is fine," I pulled out my wallet and pulled my card out and slid it over to her, "I don't care how much the room is. Just swipe the card and give me the key."

She looked a bit stunned by my overall attitude but still did what I said. She slid my card along with a key back over to me. As I reached out for them our fingers slightly touched. She jumped back almost immediately and I couldn't help but smirk.

"Thank you," I said while slightly bowing my head.

"Enjoy your stay."

I didn't even bother to look back at her and made my way to the elevator. I looked down at the number on the key and since it was a single digit number it had to be on the first floor. I pressed the button and waited patiently for the doors to open and when they did my eyes met with a rather pretty woman. I slightly bowed and walked on. I pressed the first floor button and leaned against the elevator walls.

"Don't I know you sir?" I glanced over at her and just shook my head. "Are you sure? I feel like I've seen you somewhere."

I sighed, "no. I've never seen you so I'm sure you've never seen me."

She didn't say anything after that and I was glad. I had a feeling she wanted to say something else but the doors opened. I slowly walked out and she began to speak again.

"No. I do know you. You're that guy that used to hang with that gang." The doors began to close, "Ji Nan."

As I stood there with my back to the elevator my mind went completely blank. As I stood there I felt nothing really. You would think I would feel fear since a stranger just called my name but that wasn't what I felt. It was pure annoyance. That girl had obviously gone to my previous school, and the fact that I didn't know her made it even more troublesome. What if she knows about that day...what if she tells people about that day?

Those thoughts went through my mind but what could I do. It's not like I could just force her to go away. I mean I could but right at this moment I wasn't in the mood to negotiate with my father. Plus he had already had an inflated ego about what he did to make that other situation go away. I would've taken the punishment. I would've taken the jail time but my father made it all go away. It's not like I tried to get myself into trouble. The guy said he was immortal so I just tested that theory out for him.

A smile graced my lips at the thought and I opened the door to the hotel room. It was a normal hotel room. Nothing I hadn't seen before type of thing. I slipped out of my shoes and made my way over to the bed. I sat my bag down on the floor and flopped down on the mattress. I let out a sigh and closed my eyes for a few minutes to enjoy the silence.

After a few minutes of laying there doing nothing I pulled out my phone. As I opened it I saw numerous texts from my fathers number. How annoying. I deleted the notifications without even opening them. Looking at those messages did remind me that I was suppose to call Ba Wei. Well, I don't need to but he told me too. I clicked on the phone icon and pressed his number. I put it on speaker as it began to ring.

"Hello," he croaked tiredly.

"Were you sleeping?"

"Almost, but I'm up now."

"Sorry."

"It's fine. I told you to call me." I didn't say anything. "How did that argument go?"

I let out a sigh, "do you want me to lie or tell you the truth?"

"You already know the answer to that question."

I should've known, "well...I would say not that good. He didn't believe me as usual."

"Did it become a screaming match?"

"Yes and no. It ended in me leaving."

"So you're not home?"

"N-"

"Where are you?"

In truth I didn't want to tell him. I'd rather he not know where I was at all and just hang out tomorrow or something. It would just be embarrassing for him to find out that I had to leave my own apartment just to get away from my drunk father.

"Didn't you have something you needed to do? Why were you sleep," I asked changing the subject?

"My father said he would take care of it himself. Now are you going to tell me where you are?"

As he asked that I heard movement on his side of the phone. I should've never mentioned that I left because now I would have no other choice but to tell him or he would probably get angry. Funny how I know how this guy functions.

"I'm in a hotel room."

The line went silent for a moment, "with who?"

"Huh? I'm not here with anyone." He didn't saying so I took the opportunity to slightly tease him. "What? Scared I'm letting someone else touch me?" Still he said nothing and I small smile made its way onto my face. I'll just have to amp it up, "I doubt they'd know how to make me feel good though." I was about to say something else when he suddenly spoke. His words were direct and cold, and I can't say that they didn't bring me a bit of satisfaction.

"Send me the location and room number. Now."
