Perrin Linton, the brigadier general and chief of operations shook his head. “General Halberd, you’re being too hopeful.

“Divine Drakebane’s light–speed warship is far beyond anything we’ve seen. Our experts can’t even understand its technology.

“We don’t know anything about the light explosive bombs it uses. Missiles can’t touch them–their speed is like teleportation.

“How can we fight something that uses such advanced energy? This isn’t a world where numbers matter anymore. Technology is the true weapon.

“We should be advising the fools in Watertown House to surrender and accept whatever terms Divine Drakebane demands. Otherwise, we’ll face a catastrophe.

“I believe Divine Drakebane won’t usually attack Autreynia, but our military base is his first target. If we don’t take this seriously, our entire defense system will collapse.”

Daxon sneered. “You’ve gotten too comfortable. Autreymia is invincible!”

With a flash of light, the light–speed warship disappeared into a thick cloud of smoke, leaving the confused naval officers at the Third Fleet Command Headquarters in stunned silence.
