Lucifer's Mate
Athena's POV
I sat on the bed in the room I woke up, reading a romance novel called, 'The Greek Tycoon's Defiant Bride'
Lucifer and Rush had left over two hours ago when Rush announced they had problems.
Lucifer never got to finish his sentence, I really wanted him to, which girl doesn't want a guy telling them that he loves them even though she doesn't feel the same way?
Though I've just met him my feelings are very complicated. I have this really strong connection to him, it's like something in me wants to reach out to him and connect but something else is blocking it.
"Hey" a voice said, breaking me out of my thoughts. I looked up to see the only man that occupied my thoughts.
"Hey" I muttered.
"Are you enjoying the book?" He asked.
"Yes" I replied, even though I couldn't understand one word.
"What is it about?" He questioned.
"Uh.. I'm not sure" I replied.
"I thought so too, you have the book turned upside down" he pointed out amusement swirling in his eyes.
"Oh" I said feeling stupid, a blush painting my pale cheeks as I quickly shut the book placing it on the nightstand beside the bed.
"What was the problem?" I asked desperately trying to change the topic.
"Oh, nothing much, just some rebels trying to steal from some marketers." He muttered.
"This place is very much like earth" I said, "Only with slight differences."
"Yes it is." he said.
"You know I imagined hell to be very cruel, like there would be fire everywhere, darkness, that you would look like a monster and all. I thought this place makes humans pay for the sins they have committed." I said, revealing some of my pent up thoughts.
"That's what hells for, you don't see it though, it's fallen angels that are out there, they are the demons, humans are at the depths of hell getting tortured for their sins" he explained sitting down on the bed, not breaking his gaze away from me.
"Oh well, what will happen to me when I die? I know I'm not the most innocent" I blurted out blushing again when I remembered that not being 'innocent' has another major meaning.
Lucifer growled, "What do you mean not innocent?" He sneered. Was that all he got from what I said? I rolled my eyes and turned away reaching for the book for the second time today, only to be stopped by Lucifer's tight grip on my arm.
"Answer me!" He growled the beast inside him twisting and turning, clawing to get out. I had to calm him down and I had to do it now.
"That's not what I meant!" I yelled.
"Then what did you mean?!" He yelled back.
"I'm still a virgin" I whispered in a low voice, at this age most people would have thought I'd lost my virginity already, back in highschool. It's not that I'm holding onto my virginity like some trophy, it's just that the right guy hasn't come along and I promised myself I'd wait till marriage.
"Oh" Lucifer said his voice finally calmed after what just took place seconds ago.
"Yes and I'm going to take a shower" I announced embarrassed.
"Wait, to answer your question you won't die once we're mates and you bear my mark, you'll become queen and immortal. Sorry babe but your stuck with me forever" he said with that stupid cocky smirk on his lips that I so want to crash my lips on at the moment. Then his words finally hit me, with him forever?!

I held the phone in my hand as I contemplated calling Remi.
I couldn't last another day here without someone to talk to about everything, someone who knew me.
Lucifer was nice for his reputation but he wasn't always here. I needed the company that only my best friend could provide. I had thought over everything that Lucifer told me and I had to accept the fact that I couldn't run away from it all, so I had to spend my best friend's lifetime with her until she dies.
I would be immortal by then, Lucifer will be sure to mark me in a few months. There is no avoiding it and this is why I need to call Remi and tell her the truth but first I would have to talk to Lucifer about it all.
I walked out of the room heading towards the library he had showed me earlier.
The same maid I had seen before was there dusting off shelves. As she noticed me she immediately lowered her head.
"I'm sorry for disturbing you, your highness" she said. Really? If someone was apologizing I think it would be me I'm the one disturbing her from her cleaning.
"It's no problem I just wanted to pick a book to read, you can continue" I said smiling reassuringly at her.
"Oh thank you your highness, you're very kind" she smiled shyly.
"Don't call me that, my name is Athena" I told her.
"Ok then... Athena"
I smiled at her and headed to the romance section of the library picking up a book called 'Lucifer's Favorite' I chuckled.
Would that be me?
"Hey, what's your name?" I asked the maid, while flipping through some pages of the book.
"It's Lilly" she answered.
"Nice name, I'm wondering, where did all these books come from?"
"Oh, some are from the human world, others are written by famous gods and goddesses, only facts."
"Oh this explains it" I muttered.
"Where do you stay?" I asked, continuing my small interrogation.
"In the servants quarters" she answered.
"Is it nice with the company?"
"Not really they treat me really badly because I'm too much of a nerd and loner, a devil who wants to hold on to her virginity" she sneered. I could tell this was getting her worked up.
"I know, I'm sorry I shouldn't be spilling all my problems with the future queen" Lilly apologized.
"Oh no don't be sorry I'm just surprised about the way they treat you" I say.
"It's okay I'm used to it now"
I smiled sympathetically at her, she forced a smile I could tell.
"Okay I'm going now, Lucifer must be here" I smiled.
"Okay I'll continue my job"
I walked out of the library heading to the living room quarters. I've been exploring the castle and so far I've only seen half of Lucifer's floor which compared to this castle is just a bit of a maze. I'm going to spend eternity here and still will not know the place.
I walked and bumped into a familiar blue eyed devil.
"Hey Rush" I greeted.
"Hi" he replied.
"Where's Luce?" I asked.
"He went to his room. I bet he's coming down here since he can't find you" he said.
"Rush have you seen... oh your here" Lucifer muttered as he came down the stairs.
"Yes and I need to talk to you about something" I said.
"Really? Now I have.."
"I said need, Lucifer Archangel, now sit" I say sternly.
"Jeez woman, not even a week and you're already my wife, who even told you my last name?" He whined.
I rolled my eyes, who thought the devil could humour.
He sat on the black leather sofa in front of the really large flat screen TV.
"So...?" He started.
"Well I was thinking" I said.
"Yes"
"Well I was thinking that maybe--" I paused.
"Yes"
"Well I thought-"
"Yes" He interrupted.
"Could you just shut the fuck up?!" I yelled exasperatingly.
"And she blows" I heard Rush's voice said.
"Oh go find a life!" I yelled irritatingly.
"I can't, I'm already dead." He mumbled, perks of being a demon.
"Okay as I was saying"
"You were thinking..." Lucifer mumbled.
I shot him a glare.
"I was thinking that maybe I could just tell the truth to Remi and she could come keep my company here. I know it's a huge favour but if she is here I wouldn't be this pissy. I need her company not just over the phone and as I said I was just thinking so you don't-"
I was cut off by his hand on my mouth.
Oh I wish it was his lips.
"Next time it will" his husky voice whispered in my ear, 'He did it again he red my mind'
I cleared my throat.
Uhm..
"Well, you can tell her, once she's here she won't be able to tell any human anything unless I permit it and if she doesn't want to stay then I could always erase her memories." Lucifer clarifies, nonchalantly.
"You can do that?" I asked, I know I shouldn't be too surprised about that fact but I am.
"Yes, I can, it's the basics for a god like me" he states cockily.
"Yeah yeah, again with the cockiness I see" I smirked, "I'm gonna call her"
"Not even a kiss on the cheek for thanks?" He grumbled under his breath.
I raised my eyebrows none the less leaned in and placed a tiny peck on his cheek.
"I was hoping you would improvise" he muttered.
"In your dreams!" I yelled, moving from in front of him.
"We're doing way more baby, way more"
I laugh walking away to the pantry, my new haven to make calls.
On the fourth ring the phone was answered.
Well time for the explanation.
