Chapter 4

Something is wrong... seriously!

Today is my 28th birthday and not once has Hensley said anything about a party and its already 2:30 in the afternoon.

When I woke up she had made me breakfast just like we do for each other every year. It's Sunday so her and Sam are still at my house and I just find it odd that she hasn't said anything.

" Hey Hens is there going to be a party tonight? I just wanted to make sure so I have enough time to get ready if there is."

"Actually Josh there is, but it's just a party for 3 tonight. You, nate, and I are staying together tonight just the 3 of us, that is of course unless you want a party and I can totally throw one together for you if that's what you want to do."

"No. It's cool. I really would like just the three of us together again"

" I only invited Nate so he wouldn't feel left out. Big baby"

"Yeah Yeah. Whatever you say Hens."

" Haha your so funny. I already called the babysitter and she will be here at 8 and Nate is going to meet us at the club and you and I are going to be there at 9"

" okay well since I have like over six and a half hours until we have to leave I'm going to go check on my mom I'll be back around 6 o'clock"

" okay just be careful"

"I always am" I said kissing her cheek and Sammys head goodbye.

After dad passed away I talked my mom into moving to New York with me she didn't want to stay in the city so I found a nice quiet house for her just outside of the Big Apple.

When I walked In my moms house I found her in the kitchen making tortellini and Alfredo sauce.

"Hey mom, how are you?" I said coming yo behind her and kissing her cheek.

"Oh josh right on time. Happy birthday son! I knew you would be coming today, so I made your favorite. I've been doing a lot better thank you. How about yourself baby?"

"I'm good mama, just been really busy with work and all. Nothing new"

After we ate our lunch we went into the living room to talk for awhile.

"So... Are you seeing anyone lately?" My mom asked.

" no ma'am I'm not seeing anyone"

"Good! My friend Susan has a son your age who recently moved back to New York and I wanted to set you up on a date."

"Mom I'm not ready to date yet" I said running my hand down my face.

"Joshua it has been 10 years baby. When are you going to be ready?"

"Mom I tried before remember? It didn't workout very well did it?"

"I love you Josh and I want you to happy. It's not healthy living on your own like you do. Plus I want a grand baby."

"Mother you have a grandchild already"

"Yes but I want more. Will you please just think about going on this date with Adam?"

"I will think about it mom okay? I have to go now I love you."

"I love you too son"

I arrived back home just in time. I took a shower and dressed up in dark blue skinny jeans and a white button up shirt. Hensley came out of her room the same time I came out of mine. She was wearing a grey and silver dress that went down right above her knees and her light brown hair was curled in loose waves down to the middle of her back.

When we got to the club, Nate was already at the door waiting for us to get there.

"Hey guys lets go! I saw a bunch of people go in side already so lets go!" Nate yelled at us from a few feet away.

"Calm yourself down! We aren't even late" Hensley snapped back at Nate. Gosh I seriously need to get those two together.

When we got inside, there was a huge stage at the back of the club set up where people were already gathered around it.

"What's up with the stage? Is there someone preforming tonight?" I asked.

"yup" answered Hensley.

"Well..... who is it then ?" and about the time I finished asking, a man in a red and black stripped shirt came on stage and spoke into the microphone.

"Hello ladies and gentlemen, thanks for coming out and lets give a big welcoming for Daughtry" he said.

After about three hours of listening to Chris and his band play, we decided to meet up with him in the back after the show had ended.

"Josh! hey man good to see you, How have you been? Oh happy birthday by the way.! " Chris said coming up to hug me.

"Im good thanks" I answered.

"I'm glad you came out tonight, I've been meaning to get ahold of you. Im going on another tour in about two months and I was wondering if you would want to come with me again?" He asked.

"I'm not really sure if I can take that much time off right now, but I will defiantly get back to you and let you know because I would love to" I said.

"Awesome! Well I have to go. It was really great to see you again Josh. Just call or text anytime. Bye Hensley" Chris said leaving.

I'm really glad I looked up right before he told Hensley bye or else I would have missed the very noticeable jealous look in Nate's eye when he winked at her.
