Chapter 27

23: Restraining Order

Her Wolf [Teen Wolf]

"You will not go within 50 feet of Jackson Whittemore. You will not speak to him. You will not approach him. You will not assault or harass him physically or psychologically."

Sky shuffles in her seat next to Scott and Stiles in front of Jackson and his parents at the station. It didn't take long after Jackson had escaped for him to run to the police station, telling the police and his parents how the three of them kept him locked up in some sort of twisted prank. His father had even pushed for a restraining order against them.

There was an awkward pause after the Sheriff finished speaking, the disappointment in his gaze weighing heavily on the three teens.

Stiles fidgets as he speaks, "What about school?"

The Sheriff looks at him, jaw clenched, "You can attend classes while attempting to maintain a 50-foot distance," he states.

Stiles nods before speaking again, "Bu -- okay, what if we both have to use the bathroom at the same time and there's only two stalls available and they're only right next to each other?" he asks, pausing when noticing the looks he was getting. "I'll just hold it," he mumbles.

Soon enough the three of them were escorted outside the room and Sky winces when she sees their mother waiting for them with a stormy look on her face. Whilst Stiles nervously rambles to his father, she catches her mom's gaze, her chest feeling uncomfortably tight with guilt seeing the disappointment that was being directed at her and her brother. She knew her Mom expected better from her at the very least -- knowing the situations Scott usually gets himself into. Sky quickly averts her eyes to the floor, unconsciously grabbing Scott's hand as their mother reaches them, pushing them forward towards the door in frustration.

"Move!" she snaps as she ushers them out. They come to a stop further down as she pauses and looks at them, shaking her head.

"It's not just this," she tells them. "Although, a restraining order is a new low that I didn't think that you would reach quite this soon," she looks at Sky. "If ever."

Melissa takes a breath, "It's everything on top of it. The completely bizarre behaviour, the late nights coming home," She looks at Scott. "Having to beg Mr Harris for you to make up that chemistry test that you missed, Scott. Oh, and how could I forget having to ring everyone in town just to figure out where you are, Sky! Because you're never home and you don't respond to my calls!" Sky shuffles her feet, feeling worse as she realises how all those times she's declined her Mom's calls when she was busy has added up.

Meanwhile, Scott looks up, confused, "I missed a chemistry test?" he asks.

Melissa looks at him sharply, "Really, Scott? Really?" She puts a hand to her face. "I have to ground you. I am grounding both of you. You are grounded," she tells them firmly.

Sky swallows as Scott opens his mouth and asks, "What about work?"

Melissa sighs, "Fine -- Other than work," she says, adding. "And no TV."

"I don't have a TV," Sky mumbles at the same time Scott says. "My TV's broken."

"Then no computer."

The twins awkwardly look at each other and then back at their mother as they speak quietly, "We need the computer for school."

Melissa falters at that, in addition to their matching awkward sad puppy looks, but stands straight as she notices Stiles coming towards them, "Then no, uh - no Stiles."

Stiles stops next to them, "What - no Stiles?" he asks, frowning.

Melissa nods seriously, looking at both the twins, "No Stiles! And no more car privileges," she holds her hand out. "Give me your keys. Give 'em to me!"  Scott hands them over and she struggles to get the key off the chain. Sky could see her getting even more upset, "Oh, for the love of God."

Scott steps forward, holding a hand out, "Mom, you want me to --"

"No."

Scott looks conflicted, "Mom," he calls. "Come on, let me just -- mom."

Sky reaches forward, "Mom!" she grabs the keys from her and slips the key off the ring before giving it back.

Melissa stops, shoulders sagging as she sighs, "What is going on with you? Is this about Allison?" she asks Scott.

Scott shakes his head, "Do you really wanna know?" he asks. Sky looks up at him in alarm.

"Yeah," Melissa answers. "Is this about your father?"

Scott hesitates, seeing the panic written on Sky's face. He knew that if there was one person's opinion on her she really cared about more than anything, it was their mothers. She didn't want their mom to see them as anything but her innocent kids.

Melissa takes his silence as an answer, "It is, isn't it?" she asks. "Okay, you know what, um -- We'll talk about this at home. I'm gonna go get the car," she turns and heads away from them.

Scott's head bows as she walks away, "I'm the worst son ever," he mutters.

"And I'm the worst daughter ever," mumbles Sky. "What a pair we are."

Stiles sighs from next to them, glancing back to where his father was speaking to a deputy, "Well, I'm not exactly winning any prizes either. "

The group of teens stand in a secluded part of the library at school -- Scott, Stiles and Sky on one side whilst Allison and Ariel stand on the other -- keeping up the illusion that Scott and Allison were still broken up and not talking or being near each other.

Allison slides a tablet through the shelves to Scott, "It's everything Lydia can translate. And trust me, she was very confused," she tells him.

Ariel scoffs, "Confused? She wouldn't stop asking me questions when you left."

Sky smirks at her, "What'd you tell her?"

Ariel purses her lips, "That we were part of an online gaming community that battles mythical creatures," Sky snorts and Ariel smirks at her as she adds. "She said you were dragging me down to your nerd depths."

Stiles raises his hand, "I am part of an online gaming community that battles mythical creatures," he tells them as he scratches his head awkwardly.

Sky scoffs, "Of course you are," she mutters, smirking at his affronted glare.

"Okay," says Scott, getting back on topic. "Does it say how to find out who's controlling him?" he asks.

Allison shakes her head, "Not really. But Stiles was right about the murderers."

Stiles's fist pumps the air, "Yes!" he cheers.

"It calls the Kanima a weapon of vengeance," Allison tells them. "There's a story in there about this South American priest who uses the Kanima to execute murderers in his village --"

"All right, see?" Stiles interrupts, looking between them all. "So maybe it's not all that bad."

Allison continues, "Until the bond grew strong enough that it killed whoever he wanted it to."

Sky narrows her eyes at Stiles and he clears his throat, "All bad, all very, very bad," he corrects himself.

Allison ignores him, "Here's the thing, though. The Kanima's actually supposed to be a werewolf. But it can't be --"

"Until it resolves that in its past which manifested it," Scott finishes.

Stiles looks at them, "Okay, if that means that Jackson could use a few thousand hours of therapy, I could've told you that myself," he tells them.

"What if -- It has something to do with his parents? His real parents," wonders Allison.

"Yeah, does anybody actually know what happened to them?" asked Scott. They all turn their gazes to Ariel, who blinks back at them.

"What?" she rolls her eyes. "Just because my sister dated him doesn't mean I know what happened to his parents."

Sky looks at her questioningly, "Lydia might?" Ariel sighs but nods in agreement.

"What if she doesn't know anything?" Scott asks.

Allison shrugs, "Well, he doesn't have a restraining order against me -- "

"Or me," adds Ariel.

"So --" Allison gestures between the two of them, "We'll talk to him ourselves."

Sky frowns, "But what do we do?"

Allison and Ariel pin the twins with looks, "You have a make-up exam, remember?" Allison tells Scott.

"And you have a Biology test," Ariel says to Sky with her eyebrows raised. Sky huffs.

"If he does anything, you run the other way," Scott tells them.

"No," Sky interrupts, frowning as she stares intently at Ariel. "You call for me and I'll come and tear his creepy little tail off."

Ariel cocks her head at her girlfriend, "How do I know you'll hear me?"

Sky's frown disappears but her face remains deadly serious, "I'll always hear you," Ariel's face softens.

Allison frowns, "I can take care of myself," she tells Scott.

Scott shakes his head, saying, "Allison, if you get hurt while I'm busy with some stupid test, someone's going to need to take care of me. If he does anything --"

"Like?"

Sky shrugs, "You'll know."

Stiles shoves his head through the shelves, exclaiming, "Anything evil!"

Allison simply shoves his head back.

"Oh - Ow!"

***

"So we're just gonna walk up to him and ask?" asks a sceptical Ariel as she and Allison walk down the corridor, the tablet with the translation of the information on the Kanima in Allison's hand along with her heels.

Allison shrugs, "Well, I guess."

Ariel opens her mouth to reply, only to let out a grunt as she and Allison bump into someone.

A student, Matt, looks at them in surprise, "Oh, you just scared the hell out of me."

"Sorry," says Allison, stumbling over her words. "I wa -- I was just, um, I was -- nothing."

Matt nods, "Ah, that's a -- nice heels." he says, looking at the shoes she was carrying in her other hand.

"Oh!" Allison blinks. "Yeah, uh, my feet were hurting, so I -- "

Matt smiles, "Same reason I never wear mine."

Ariel looks between them with her eyebrows raised as Allison looks at him strangely, "What?" she asks.

Matts's smile drops, "Uh, forget it," he brushes off. "Hey, did you hear about the underground show? Apparently, they've got some big name spinning."

Allison nods absentmindedly when she notices Jackson going into the locker room, "Oh, you mean like a rave?" she asks.

"Oh, is it still a rave if you don't roll? I just call it a party," Matt says. "But hey, I got a friend who can hook us up with tickets if you're down. Want me to get you one?" he asks.

Ariel crosses her arms as she observes their conversation. She had noticed he barely spared her a glance the whole time and was focused on Allison.

Allison continues nodding distractedly, "Yeah. Yeah, great."

Ariel's eyes widen as Matt's lit up, "Yeah? All right, cool. Um, it's Friday, so -- Looking forward to it," he tells her, stepping back.

"Yeah," waves Allison as she grabs Ariel and moves toward where Jackson went.

"You do realise you just said yes to a date, right?" Ariel asks quietly.

Allison ignores the question, pushing the door open and calling out, "Jackson?"

They walk further in, only to shriek in surprise as Jackson stands naked in the shower.

"Jackson, could you not?!" exclaims Ariel as she spins to face the other way, holding Allison's arm close.

Jackson smirks at them, "You're the ones that walked into the boys' locker room," he points out, "Did you wanna talk about something?" he asks as he steps towards them.

Allison shakes her head and steps back, uncomfortable, "We can talk later," she tells him.

Jackson keeps walking towards them, backing them into the lockers, "No," he says. "Let's talk now."

Ariel swallows as he leans closer, "We-- uh -- we have to go to class," she mumbles.

Jackson tuts at her, leaning close to her face as she cringes, "Oh, no, no, you don't," he tells her, "No, you have perfect grades. You can skip one class," he pauses, looking between the girls who were grasping each other's arms tightly. "Are you okay? Your hearts are beating like crazy."

Allison shakes her head, "It doesn't matter."

Jackson looks at her, "You sure? Because you look a little stressed. Is it Scott? Is it that whole thing?" he asks. "I still can't believe you actually think your little Romeo and Juliet story is gonna last. You know he's eventually just gonna run to Derek and join up with him and his little wolf pack. If you don't realize that, then you gotta be the stupidest bitch in this town," he pauses, saying. "Well, other than Scott since he's a pretty stupid bitch himself," He looks at Ariel and smirks. "And don't even get me started on your psycho bitch of a girlfriend -- "

Ariel clenches her jaw as Allison shouts, "Stop. Just stop!"

Jackson turns back to Allison, missing Ariel's glare as her eyes flash purple, "What are you gonna do, Allison, hmm --" he wonders. "When your stupid bitch of a boyfriend turns on you? They kill your aunt. They almost kill Lydia. Who do you really think's gonna be next, hmm? Not you. Not either of you. No, no, it can't be you two, because you're in love. Is that what you tell yourself, hmm? Scott and Sky are different and everything's gonna work out because we're in love," he scoffs, not noticing Ariel whispering something repeatedly under her breath as she tries not to lose control.

"Well, if that's what you believe, then you're already dead."

***

Across the school, Sky's head shoots up from her desk as she hears her name. She darts up, chair scraping across the floor as she storms to the door, ignoring her teacher shouting after her.

Her claws and teeth begin to appear as she stalks through the deserted corridor, eyes blazing.

***

"I just hope your dad has been teaching you moves to protect yourself, Allison."

Allison stares Jackson in the eyes as he towers over them, still naked,  "Actually, he has," she tells him.

She knees him hard and Ariel shoves him over with all her strength. Jackson falls onto the floor with a groan, the force seeming to snap him out of a daze.

He looks at the girls, "What are you doing here?" he asks, face scrunched up in confusion.

Ariel blinks and opens her mouth to reply, only to jump as the door slams open and a furious-looking Sky bursts into the room, her golden eyes looking from Ariel's distressed form to Jackson's lack of clothing.

Ariel's eyes widen as she lets out a deadly growl and stalks towards him.

"Sky!"
