Chapter 1 ~Ichijou Shoji~

Shoji, the young man who was hit by the truck, opened his grey cat eyes. He was now in a white room.

It was a slightly glowing white room. There were no windows, no doors, no way in or out. But it wasn't empty.

He was laying dow on a bed. It was really soft, and if he closed his eyes, he'd be asleep in a few seconds. It was all white, and bright.

He frowned - 'Where am I?' He thought.

He supported himself up and sat down on the bed to look around. There were other things aside from the bed. A round table, grey couches, a beautiful purple flower he did not recognise, a soft light blue rug right underneath the aforementioned items.

However, none of those caught his attention. It was the floor.

Shoji's expression did not change, however his eyebrows raised ever so slightly, and fingers were shaking.

"What crazy place am I in?" He pondered.

The reason for his shock was understandable.

The floor looked like it was transparent, with millions of worlds, stars and meteors floating about, making a beautiful scenery.

Anyone would be quite shocked at this sight.

'Am i dreaming?'

Shoji lifted his hand and pinched himself.

Hiss~

'I'm not dreaming. Then where am I?'

Shoji calmed himself, with only a frown on his face, looked around. He tried to remember what had happened to him before he woke up.

(Flashback)

Ichijou Shoji was a 19 year old, currently in university. He was the only child of a wealthy, powerful family.

He was happy with his life, he had amazing looks, perfect grades, was rich, but he could not get his parents attention.

It was not that they did not love him, it was more they couldn't make time for him.

Which in turn, made them slowly indifferent towards him.

Thus, they left him to the servants, who only did their job and never gave any special attention to Shoji.

He was always, from his childhood to now, trained to inherit his family business.

He was not against it, in fact, he found it fun.

Later, he found a new interest, video games. It started with his closest friend introducing him to them.

And he slowly ended up being obsessed with them.

No matter what interest he had, he was always top of his class.

He was visiting his friend on that day to play video games together. After which he returned home in the rain, with the umbrella given to him by his friend. He was not paying much attention to his surroundings, and only stopped at a crosswalk.

After the signal turned green, a few people started walking, which he noticed, and followed. He was pretty slow, but it did not block others way across.

As he was focused on his own thoughts, he did not notice the truck coming his way. He only realised, when it was a few inches away. Before he could realise, he was hit. Not that he could do anything in that short amount of time.

He could feel his body turning cold as it lost blood. He could hear peoples screams, voices, them calling an ambulance, the rain. He couldn't see much other than red. He was slowly dying. As he closed his eyes he thought - I couldn't finish the new quest...

(End of Flashback)

Shoji finally remembered that he was supposed to be dead.

'Then why am I.. here? I'm dead, so is it heaven? Looks a bit too simple for that.'

As Shoji pondered over where he is, he did not notice the 'being' that appeared in front of him. The 'being' was seemingly a white light.

Ahem

The being made a sound to catch Shoji's attention.

Shoji looked up at the sudden sound he heard, and looked at the 'person' in front of him. It seems that to Shoji, the 'being' appeared as an old man with a long white beard, wearing a white robe of sorts. He was a gentle looking old man.

"Who.. are you?"

Shoji asked perplexed. The 'Being' replied -

"This one is what you call 'God', young man."

Shoji - "God? ... so that means, I'm really dead, and I'm in heaven, or.. your home?"

God - "My! Such a bright young man!

Yes, you are indeed in this ones home."

'I'm sure most who have read even a few mangas would be able guess something like this.'

"Then, why am I here? I don't think I did anything wrong?" Shoji asked, with a questioning gaze. He very quickly accepted his death, and that the 'Person' in front of him is god.

'I of course didn't do anything wrong. I spent most of my time studying, gaming, and working.'

God said with a happy tone which turned regretful - "You did not do anything wrong, child. It was one of this being's subordinate's fault for your death. For which, this one apologises. This one has given much attention to you, child. You're so smart, and yet limited by your surroundings. It seems the attention this one has given to you, had made this ones creation to have hateful feelings."

Shoji understanding his death wasn't natural, guessed that the god is going to reincarnate him to a new world, with a better life.

'I don't think there's anything else. I don't care about the fact that I'm dead.'

Shoji - "So, are you going to reincarnate me?"

God - "Well, this one will indeed do something similar. Before which, child, tell me what is it you regret the most?"

The 'Being' seemed to want to fulfil Shoji's regret in the next world.

'I don't really have a regret, but I guess if I did.. it would be...'

"I wouldn't say it is a regret, but it would be not to be able to finish the quest in my favourite game 'Evergreen Land'.

The quest is called 'Akhogia Empire'."

The 'Akhogia Empire' quest was released as a special quest of the 5 year anniversary of the popular game - [Evergreen Land].

It focuses on a chain quest to unlock the new Empire called Akhogia.

[Evergreen Land] is a game released 5 years ago, and had immediately gained many players. Shoji was one of the earliest players, and is the top on all charts. He had multiple accounts for different professions, and was given the award 'Boss Defeater' for defeating all the bosses.

The 'Akhogia Empire' Quest is mainly for alchemists, as the this empire is known for it's alchemy and was mentioned several times in both the main storyline quests and alchemy related quests.

This quest was not released long ago, and Shoji had not been able to finish it before his death.

Which is why, he seemed to consider this as his regret among most other things.

God - "That is indeed a peculiar regret. However, what you need is what this one shall fulfil.

Child, this one shall give you 5 wishes you would like to have, and this one shall give 5 abilities decided by this         oneself. This one will reincarnate you to this world called Evergreen land. Tell this one what you would like to have, child."

Shoji looked at the 'Being' with a shocked gaze. His expression had not changed much but you could see his shock.

He was perplexed as to why a god would give him so much. In Shoji's eyes, he wasn't much, he was just a little above average.

However he was someone considered smart by god. If it was anyone else who said he was smart, then it would be fine to think of yourself just above average. But here, it wasn't just anyone else saying it.

Shoji thought - 'I of course won't reject such an offer. If I'm going to be reincarnated to Evergreen land, then I will ask something that will benefit me there.'

"I understand. I don't get why you would do something like this for me, but I'm not someone to reject a good offer.

For my 1st wish... I would like to be able to use my character in the game. All of his powers. Actually I would like it if I could use all the account's professions. Merge them into one character."

God - "Hmm, that is a wise decision. This one shall grant that wish. Then, what is your next wish child?"

Shoji - "then... I would like to keep the system. It would be better if it knew everything I would need at times. Especially my own status."

God - "That is understandable. You need all information you could get in a new world. This one will allow you such power, however, anything out of the world, you will not be able to access."

"I understand."

"Then your 3rd wish?"

Shoji did not reply for this one. He did not know what he wanted, as he pondered over it.

'For the 3rd wish, I can't think of much. Maybe a skill that's not available in the game? Ah!'

"I would like to be able to speak all the languages. Including animal's and monster languages. That would be useful."

God - "How thoughtful. Good choice, young one."

'He truly is a good child. Smart, however he seems to limit himself, as he has spent his time with those humans. This one has decided on the first ability. It will be very useful for him. Though, This one does not know if it is to be called an ability.'

Then shoji continued on to the next wish, as though he had gotten a new idea already.

"Then, I would like top have a pet or familiar. Whatever it is. It just needs to be OverPowered."

God - "Would you like this one to make the decision?"

"Yes."

"Then what is your last wish, child?"

"For my last wish, I.. would like you to name me..."

...

Silence filled the white room. The god who had not expected this, seemed to have been taken aback.

'That... is not something this one would have expected. The child looks slightly nervous as well. My...'

"Child, this one had never named someone before except for oneself. And this one does not know what to name you after."

Shoji - "It's fine. You could just give me your name as my last name, and decide my given name!"

Shoji seemed to be happy that he was not rejected, as he said with a joyful, but monotone voice.

The 'Being' as well, was quite. They had never named anyone because it would mean they approve of them being a god right by their side.

And now, this child was asking them to give their own name as his 'family' name.

The god did not know whether they should grant this wish. It's not like they can't just erase his memories after the next life, and continue to let him reincarnate.

However, the god hesitated. They had, for a while, wanted someone who could help them take care of these universes. They knew deep down they needed two more 'Beings' to help them control the balance. But, it just wasn't easy. They needed to be careful.

The 'God' thought for a few more minutes, during which Shoji stayed quite and waited.

'Giving someone a name must mean something big for him to hesitate so much. If he rejects, then I should just ask for something else. I don't know what but I will.'

Shoji thought why he had wanted to be named by this 'Being'.

'Did I ask that because I was starting a new life? Because I no longer need wait for the people who I know won't give me attention?

I wanted him to name me, maybe because he was the second person- no 'God', either way, someone who treated me kindly? Maybe, I don't know, but I want him to name me.'

Shoji had once craved for his parent's attention and love, but never got it. He only ever worked hard to impress them, but it never worked.

In the end, he gave up. But deep down, he still wanted them to give him attention.

Though, now that he is dead, he no longer seems to want it.

Or he just wants to fill that void up through this 'Being'.

As Shoji was stuck in his own thoughts, he heard that voice that was gentle, like a kind old man.

"Then, this one shall give you a new name. You shall find out what it is once enter the world.

As for the abilities that this one shall give you, this one shall only tell you about one of them. The rest, you can slowly find out through your journey in the world."

Shoji - "I understand. Please do tell me what that ability is."

God - "The first ability this one has granted you is to be able to talk to this one. You shall do so whenever you would like, however this one would like it, if it was not too often."

Shoji smiled, 'That's good. I can contact him when I miss him-... wait, I wouldn't miss him! We only met! Ughhh! It's not like I still want a parent like figure! Forget it, forget it!'

Shoji who one second smiled, the other changed to a grumbling expressions, and once again smiled, said to the 'Being' who was curious towards his now ever changing face.

"Thank you. That makes me happy."

"Hmm, this one is happy to know. Then, This one shall teleport you the destination."

As the 'God' said so, a white light appeared below Shoji's feet. It was, what seemed similar to a magic formation seen in games.

"But, before this one teleports you, may you answer one of my questions, child?"

Shoji looked up expressionless, 'I don't know what the question is, that a god wouldn't know the answer to, but I'll answer.'

Shoji nodded.

God - "Tell this one, how this one looks."

Shoji - "Huh? Do, do you mean like, if you're handsome or something...?"

"No, This one would like you to describe this one's appearance."

Shoji - "Why? Do you not know how you look?"

God - "This one does not. You see this one cannot look at oneself. When asked by this one of the appearance, the subordinates do not answer, saying it would be blasphemy. This one had always wanted to change appearance for the white light this one has seen to one that this one's creation have seen.

This one appears different to all beings according to their beliefs of this one's appearance.

So, this one asks for your belief."

'Oh, so he can only see light when he looks at himself.'

Shoji - "You... look like a kind, gentle old man. You have a long white beard, and look very much like a neighbouring grandpa. You're wearing a white robe. I guess, that's how I believe god looks."

It was a straight forward answer, which as much description he could bring out to describe the 'God'.

The 'God's' eyes that looked like they were closed opened wide. It was not due to the description, it was because, when Shoji described them, they could see an image, which they thought was the way they looked in his eyes.

'Hmm, it is quite appeasing. Then, This One shall follow this.'

"This One understands. It seems this one finally has an appearance this one shall appear in front of others like.

Now child, close your eyes. You will be teleported."

Shoji raised his eyebrow, and closed his eyes.

After he did, the light underneath his death gift brighter and brighter, until it completely covered the whole room.

Once the blinding light disappeared, the only one left there was the God.

"'My' child, 'I' shall see through your journey 'myself'. Do enjoy the gifts 'I' have given you."

Hello! (≧∀≦) This was a long chapter. I wanted to fill up a lot of the plots in very long chapters.

I don't plan on dragging this story for too long.

I did say complete character introduction of Shoji will be given in this chapter, but (*'∀｀*) I've thought about it, and decided, I'm going to make a character page for more description.

Though, most of what I've wanted you all to know is in this.

Other things will be added according to the future chapters.
