327âThey Are Trying To Reach Out
Nora:
She approached me and stopped right before me, her eyes spewing hatred. She didnât even have to
start talking for me to know she was going to say something rude.
âSo, what was decided?â she asked, her arms crossed over her chest. She couldnât wait to ask her
own husband? Why must she bother me?
âThat Iâll be going to the mountains with the royal beta to capture the mutants,â I answered honestly.
Surprisingly, she seemed pleased by the
news.
She was brimming with confidence now. I bet both her problems were headed to the mountains.
âGood. I hope you two know thereâs a chance you might never return home,â she said, rolling her
eyes dramatically, already wishing death upon
1. us.
âI know. Thatâs why Brody was so against the idea of sending me to the
mountains. Even Rollo had to remind him that he has a mate at home
now,â I clicked my tongue, mimicking the dismissive gesture others used on me. I used to be the
one getting mocked and played before.
I didnât want to say it out loud, but sometimes, itâs not so bad to give back

to those who have been a bother in your life.
âWhat did you just say?â she suddenly seemed even more agitated. And that was all I needed. If she
thought she could taunt me or wish death upon me, she was wrong.
âOh, I didnât know you had some hearing issues. Let me repeat myself in clearer words,â I cleared
my throat as she glared at me. It was so fun watching her wait for me to say something ridiculous.
Why must a person do that to herself?
âI said, Brody was against the idea of me going alone to the mountains. He was so worried for my
safety,â I paused as her face darkened. âAnd then I chose Rollo, but thank goodness, Brody agreed
with me even though his royal beta was against the idea,â I gave her a weak smile, getting under her
skin successfully.
âListen to me, you slut,â she lost it, but my smile didnât fade. Simple words couldnât harm me
anymore. I no longer wished to be everyoneâs favorite girl. But she was fuming now. I had grown
tired of her name- calling every time she saw me, so today I gave her a reason to do it better.
âIf you think this whole battle thing will bring you closer to Brody, youâre wrong,â she warned,
wagging her finger in my face.
âBut it will, though. I mean, weâll be spending quite a lot of time together, like a loooot of time,â I
sighed, âbut donât worry, I wonât let him cheat on you.â Every word I spoke was meticulously planned
to unsettle her, and it seemed to be working.

âYou think-â she paused as I saw Clara enter the mansion and stare at us.
It was clear she was trying to understand why the Luna of the pack was talking to me.
âI said donât worry, and by the way, thank you for being so nice to me and even talking to me when
others think Iâm some sort of disease,â I said, trying my best to look enthusiastic for Clara.
Janet had her back to Clara, so I took the opportunity to turn the situation. against them.
âAnd Iâll make sure I remember your words. Iâll let you know later what happened,â I gave Janet a
secretive smile but stepped back when Clara reached us.
âIâll go back to my room now,â I flashed Janet a smile that was deceptively.
sweet to Clara.
Janet didnât say anything as she was still preoccupied with the fact that Brody was concerned about
me. I wasnât sure if the two had spoken, but I walked straight to the hallway, heading back to my
room with a beaming smile. I was about to reunite with my babies, and during the daytime, no less. I
was elated. However, it seemed that happiness didnât want to linger with me for too long. I heard
someone calling my name, and my steps. came to a halt.
âNora!â Mrs. Fisher approached, a scowl on her face.
âYes, Lady?â I tilted my head, batting my eyelashes at her. I had noticed how she would become
irked whenever she saw me smiling, so I smiled

even more.
âYour smile makes you look creepy,â she commented with a sneer, attempting to ruin my mood, but
her words no longer affected me. I had heard worse.
âAwe! I thought I looked cute,â I pretended to pout, which only made her grunt louder.
âWhat is it you want?â I sighed, giving in and asking her, though I wasnât prepared for what she
would say.
âYour stepbrothers have been bombarding the alphaâs phone, inquiring about you.â
