“I’m kind of in the middle of a conversation here,” Silas said bluntly, hoping she would take the hint.

Instead, she pouted and placed her hands on her hips.

“No, no, no! I wouldn’t want you to waste your time,” she wagged her finger at him, making me laugh

at her foolishness. She turned to me, giving me a deadly glare, but then remembered that I was

supposed to be the Luna of the pack for now.

“Carla! If you really want to help, go inside and grab some of the trays from the maids. They’ve been

working since morning, and you’re just arriving now?” Every word of mine elicited a reaction from

her. She looked shocked, then offended, and finally awkwardly nodded, recalling Brody’s lesson for

the day.

As Carla walked away, I noticed Nash standing at a distance.

“As for the comment I made to your father about being afraid of—” I fell silent when I saw Nash

approach us. I didn’t feel like explaining anything anymore. In fact, I shouldn’t be explaining anything

to my mate, Silas, who had left me like a coward after mating with me.

“Nora-” Nash attempted to speak, but I sighed and interrupted.

“I’ll sit with him. Spare me the lectures.” With an eye roll, I returned

Everyone had begun eating, but I could sense the awkwardness in the air. Janet was upset and

barely touched her food, drawing the attention of the brothers, who had been very observant since

the morning. Carla kept sneaking glances at Silas, making him visibly uncomfortable. Lord Atwood

was busy feeding me as I now sat next to him.

I was getting anxious, wanting to leave this place so I wouldn’t waste time and could meet up with

my children.

“By the way, I heard you guys are leaving in an hour or so?” Brody asked the brothers with minimal

excitement. I nodded my head rather visibly, excited.

“Why, didn’t you know? I heard you told the council that you were uncomfortable with our presence,”

Nash said, not holding back and speaking openly.

I found it amusing when Brody was called out for his games.

“I didn’t know you’d be asked to leave so soon,” Brody now had to come up with a lie, with all eyes

on him. It was quite a sight— caught red–handed talking trash about his guests.

“Yeah, right,” Ryker hissed, and Brody grunted in response.

“And we would like to invite you and your beautiful Luna, Nora, to our pack for dinner, as we couldn’t

congratulate you on your wedding before,” Lord Atwood said, shaking me in my seat with his

invitation.

My fingers tightened around the fork I was holding. I had already decided that I’d never return there.
