#26 This is my death
The Girl Gang Leader
After Stefan told me that I had to spend a whole day with him, I have been freaking out. It's very un-Vanessa of me to freak out over a boy. But it is what it is. Ugh! So, yesterday, the whole day went in guessing what Stefan might nave planned for me today. I just hope he doesn't ask me to kiss him. But you don't mind, do you? It's 4:30 am now and I am getting ready for a whole day with Stefan. Yesterday, he told me to wear something comfortable, so I got changed into some black jeans and a comfortable top.
I made my way out of the apartment and to the elevator. I stepped out of the elevator to see Stefan already waiting for me. "Someone woke up early." He smirked. I just rolled my eyes and got inside the passenger seat of his car. He got in and we drove off.
**********
"Where are we going?" I asked Stefan. "You'll see." "You have been saying the same thing for the whole ride. Just tell me." I said, clearly pissed. "We are here!" He smiled and got out of the car. I looked around, taking in my surroundings. There was a board that said 'Bungee Jumping and other activities.' I got out of the car, hoping that we were here, only to do the 'other activities.'
I walked up to Stefan, who was standing near the reception. "That will be it, sir. Enjoy your day!" That was all I heard. "Ready Princess?" He asked. "For what?" I raised my eyebrows. "Bungee Jumping." He smirked. What! "There is no way I am doing that. You know I am scared of heights! Even on airplanes, I take the aisle seat to avoid looking through the window. There is no way I am going Bungee Jumping!" I almost shouted.
"Remember the deal! You have to do whatever I say, Princess." He chuckled. "No way! That deal does not apply when it is a matter of life and death!" I shouted at him. "The deal says-" "I don't give a f*ck about the deal. Am I supposed to kill myself if you tell me to do so?" "Don't worry! I won't tell you to kill yourself." He smirked. He was very calm in his answers. That means that he already knew that this was going to be my reaction. Then why did he do it?!? I hate him! No, you don't. Ugh!
"Let's get going!" He cheerfully said and started walking. Breath in. Breath out. Breath in. Breath out. After calming myself, I followed him, until we reached the Bungee Jumping area. I saw the height and that was all I needed to turn around. Suddenly, two strong arms lifted me up and put me on their shoulder, carrying me towards the elevator. "Stefan! Put me down!!" I whined. "Not happening, Princess." He smirked. After a while, I gave up and turned to face in front, which was a big mistake as I came face to face with his butt. "You have a nice butt." I rolled my eyes. "I like the view from here too." He smirked. Pervert! But you like it.
Finally, after entering the elevator, he kept me down. "Ready?" He asked. "No. Please. I don't want to die." I whined, making the most innocent puppy face I could make. "Now, you are making it very hard to deny you-" Yes. It worked. "But, I will close my eyes," Stefan closed his eyes "and say 'no' to you." He said. Okay. That didn't work. Suddenly, the elevator door opened and we both stepped outside. Nooooo.
"I need you to fill these." The girl at the desk said. I looked down to see a health questionnaire. I unwillingly filled it, and also signed the liability and indemnity waiver form. Then, we were then asked to empty our pockets and remove all loose items basically anything we could loose while jumping. After that, I was asked to step on the scales. My weight was written on the back of my hand with a thick felt pen, so the bungee instructors at the bridge would know how to calculate the length of my bungee rope(which I was praying will not break!)
We were the first ones there, as it was early. "You wanna go first?" Stefan asked. Breath in. Breath out. Breath in. Breath out. "Yeah," I said, with a shaky breath. "You'll do great," Stefan assured me. "Yeah. Please do not cry if I die." I tried to joke, but it didn't sound like one. "You won't die." He told me as I made my way up to the instructor. Oh god! I am too young to die!
As the instructor was attaching the safety harnesses, I desperately asked him, "Do give any inspirational words to the jumpers?" "Yeah. I do." He rolled his eyes. "Do you have some for me?" "If you don't jump, I'll kick your sexy a*s." He smirked. "Not helping." I just rolled my eyes, ignoring his pervert comments. After that, he told me to get up and walk up to the platform edge. Dont look down. Dont look down. Dont look down. I look down and I realize that I cant do this. I told you not to look down! Well, I didn't listen.
The instructor, whose name seemed to be Noah, made me stand at the edge of the platform, where I could feel the weight of the cords pulling me down. Goodbye Earth! Noah started telling me how to position my legs and all the technical stuff, to which I paid complete attention. Even if there was a 0.00001 percent chance of me not dying, I would like to take it. After telling me everything, he stepped back. Oh god! I am seriously doing this. Noah starts the countdown. 3...2...1...Jump! And I jump!
I could feel the cool air brushing on my face so fast as if I am driving a racing car. I opened my mouth to scream out of my lungs, "Woooooow". But it more or less came out as, "Whaaaaaaaaaaa..!!" with an incomplete end as I reached down within seconds. I did it. I. Did. It. Oh my god! I did it!!! I can't believe that I did it. The first jerk from the cord, which pulled me up again, snapped me back to my senses.
I overcame my fear of heights! Oh God! I really did it! And it was so much fun! After two-three more jerks, they pulled me out of the harnesses. When I was finally back to my feet, I saw Stefan getting ready for his jump. And then he jumped. Without fear. I bet he had done this before. His harnesses were also removed and he walked up to me. "How was it?" He smirked.
"That's was freaking awesome. Oh God! I really can't believe I did it. Thanks for this!" I said as I jumped up and down like a kid. "Told you!" We headed towards the reception where we collected our things. And headed back to the car. "What are you going to make me do next?" I asked him. "Eat breakfast." He chuckled. "Finally something I agree on." I smiled as we headed for breakfast.
After breakfast, Stefan drove us to an unrecognizable place. We reached there. It looked like a miny airport. Woah. Wait a minute. "Please please tell me this is not Sky Diving," I begged. "Yep. It is." He smirked. "No. No. Nope. No. Nopity. No. Nope. I am not going to skydive." "Oh common. You know the deal-" "I dont care about the deal." I glared at him.
"You did Bungee Jumping. What is the problem with this?" He asked. "Problem? There are so many things that could go wrong. The parachute would not open and I would fall-" "I'll catch you." "What if even your parachute doesn't work and we both fall to our deaths?" "There are safety regulations, Princess. You know I won't let anything happen to you." He smiled. "But-" "No more buts. You are doing it and thats final." He said and I gave up. Today is going to be my death.
**********
After completing all the formalities, and going through some training, we were finally on the plane, with two more divers and two instructors. Stefan was trying to engage me into a conversation but I was too busy planing my death note to listen to him.
Dear Everyone, I know,
I am glad that I met you in my life. And I am definitely sure that your presence in my life changed me, for good or for worse. So, I am thankful to everyone for being in my life. And everyone knows I am bad with words so let's get this done quickly (even though this is the last time you will ever hear from me)...
"Get ready to jump. Remember your training. Everything will be fine." The instructor said, snapping me back to reality. Oh god! This is it. This is my death. Goodbye Earth! As the gate opened, a thrust of cold air engulfed me and eardrums closed due to change in pressure with a mesmerizing view of horizon in-front of me. Look, it is so nice. No need to be scared right? Yeah. "Ready Princess?" Stefan smirked. "No?" I answered.
"Meet you in air." Was the last thing he said before he jumped. Oh My God. He jumped. And now, it was my turn. Breath in. Breath out. You can do this. And I jumped.
I started screaming as soon as I was floating in the air. I closed my eyes, too scared to see the height. Then, gathering up all the courage I had, I opened my eyes. The first I noticed was Stefan smiling and waving at me. I nervously waved at me. Then he slowly came towards me and held both of my hands. "You good?" He shouted over the sound of the air. "Yeah. This is awesome. I have no idea why I scared of this." I shouted, taking in my surroundings. "Told you." He shouted back.
It was the feeling of weightlessness, the feeling of jumping out of the plane, and flying in the air. Within a few more seconds we achieved out terminal velocity and it was incredible. There was no falling sensation, rather it was almost as if we were floating on a cushion of air. I got over the fact that I was just falling in the air at this point, with no parachute my eyes wide open.
After around 60 seconds of free-fall, we pulled the lever for the parachute. Now, even though we were descending, it felt like we were still in the air. I couldn't hear anything besides Stefan talking to me, it was so quiet and peaceful. I could see some people on the ground and they looked like little ants. We pulled our legs up as high as we could and held them for landing. The parachute ride down took around 8-10 minutes and the landing was incredibly soft. The experience was nothing like I had imagined. Who knew falling from the sky was so incredible. And now it was good to say that I was over my fear of heights. All thanks to Stefan. Awww. Shut up.
I walked over to Stefan. "That was AMAZING!!" I cheered. "Told you." He smirked. "Where to next?" I asked him. "You know that curiosity killed the cat right?" He chuckled. "Well, it's a good thing I am a dog." I smiled. He just shook his head as we made our way to the car and drove off.
**********
We had lunch, and currently, we were at the beach, walking in the sand, barefoot. The day with Stefan had turned out better than I expected. I wasn't freaking out much (Thankfully). So far, so good. We were talking about random things when Stefan asked, "What are your plans for Thanksgiving?" "Ash is going to be back until that time. Ethan would have been discharged. So we will mostly spend our Thanksgiving with the Klarks like every year." I shrugged. "I am asking about after Thanksgiving? Like the holidays."
"Well, my mom is leaving for Australia. Ethan and my father are leaving for London. So I have no idea what I am going to do." "Well, good. Because you are coming with me to Toronto-" he started but I cut him off. "No way I am doing that." I rolled my eyes. "It's the deal. You have agreed to do anything and everything." He smirked.
"That is only for today," I grunted. "You still have to agree. A deal is a deal." "I hate this deal," I whined. "Why do you need me to come with you to Toronto?" I asked. "There is this huge party which my Aunt hosts every year. Only this year, they expect !e to bring a date. And you are going to be my date." He explained. Wait a minute. I am going to be his date?!? He did not ask Sarah or anyone to be his date, but he asked me?! Yay!!! How can I say no to that? "Ugh! Fine." I tried to sound as bored as I could. "Common. I have one more thing planned for today." He smirked as he lead me back to his car.
***********
We were walking through the woods. I still have no idea where we are going and I am just following Stefan as a blind dog, wondering how he knows his way through the woods so clearly. "We are here." He stopped. I was so busy in my thoughts that I walked directly into him. "Whoa! Careful there, Princess." I took in my surroundings and realized we were near a cliff. We were here for Cliff Diving. Perfect!
Stefan knows that I am scared of heights. He planned the whole day according to that, making me play with my life. He knows about my fear of heights. What he doesn't know that I am a pretty good swimmer and the fact that I love cliff diving. Another thing that he doesn't know is that I can hold my breath underwater for four minutes. Now it is payback time!
"Oh My God! Stefan, you know I am scared of heights. Why did you bring me here for cliff diving?" I whined, sounding as scared as possible. "That is the exact reason I brought you here." He smirked, telling me that my plan is working perfectly. I started walking backward, knowingly heading towards the cliff, but he didn't know that. "I dont want to do this. Please. I beg yoooouu." I screamed as I made it seem that I slipped off the cliff and fell into the water.
As soon as I was about to hit the water, I held my breath. I entered the water and I stayed inside, making it seem that I was drowning. After a minute, I felt Stefan jump into the water. He picked me up and swam back to the shore. I was still holding my breath, making it seem that I fainted. He carefully laid me on the ground. "Wake up! Princess! Common wake up. Please. God! I am such an idiot. I should have never done this." He started mumbling, as he pressed my chest. He was about to give me mouth to mouth when I suddenly spoke, "Now that was fun." I smirked as I opened my eyes. Stefan's eyes widened.
"You. You did this. You almost gave me a myocardial infarction! How dare you?!?" He glared at me. I just chuckled at his usage of the scientific name for a Heart Attack. "That is known as payback." I laughed. "You. Why would you do that to me?" He was still recovering from the fact that I fake-drowned. "Because you harassed me a lot today. And now it was your turn to be harassed." I smirked.
"But you were not breathing!" He shouted. "I can hold my breath for four minutes, which was enough to freak you out." I chuckled. "Ugh! I hate you." "I love me too," I smirked.
*********
After he calmed down, we both headed back up the cliff to see the sunset. We lay on the grass, talking about all the things in the world. I like this. I like the way I am comfortable around him. This was never the case with Anthony. I used to always have this bad feeling, eating my head when I was around him. Unlike Stefan. I really like this feeling of being secured around him. I know I dont need a boy to feel secure. I am the Gangleader of The Elites after all. But I still like this feeling.
"Hey, can you answer something for me? Honestly?" Stefan snapped me out of my thoughts. "Yeah. Sure." "Do you like Ash?" He asked in a pained voice. "Yeah. I mean, are best friends since we were born. And I am very close to him. Why?" I smiled, remembering all my wonderful childhood memories. "No. Not that. Like romantically?" He asked. I just chuckled. "No. Why would you even think that? And even if I did, we were never going to happen. Ash is into boys." I informed him.
Stefan's face changed. It was like was relieved. "Oh. I didn't know." He sighed. "Yeah. Even he doesn't know that I know." I chuckled. "He doesn't? Then how do you know?" "I am his best friend. I see everything. I have seen him checking out boys. I can't believe you did see him checking you out when you both first met during the soccer game. I could smell the jealously when you called me Princess in front of him." I laughed. Stefan joined me. And we were back to our conversation about the world.
************
Stefan dropped me back to the apartment. "Thanks for today. I really needed it. And even though you made me do impossible things, I still enjoyed it." I smiled. We were standing outside my apartment. "Yeah. Even though you gave me a heart attack, I still enjoyed it." He chuckled. Even though we were laughing, I could feel the heat growing around us. Our laughs died and we were back into an intense staring contest. We were centimeters apart. I could feel the dryness in my mouth.
Kiss him! I can't! Why not? I dont want to make things awkward! The last kiss didn't make anything awkward! That was because we fought after it! I dont want to fight with him! Finally, Stefan took a step back, scratching the back of his neck. "Well..." Stefan broke the silence. "I should get going," I said as I hastily opened the door with keys. "Yeah. Me too." He said. "Bye." I awkwardly smiled as a closed the door. Oh, God. That was awkward. I don't know what I am going to do of I go with him to Toronto.
