Dating Men... In a Club?
The Daddy Project
"Take care of Fyodor and I might unground you."
It had gotten late and Andres had come back from work sweating like he had been chased after by a bull. Well, it was something of that sort but the other way around. He and Barnes had to chase down a burglar that had first resisted arrest, made them chase after him for almost thirty minutes then tried to harm Barnes. If that dude wasn't going to jail for 5 years, then he never wanted to see him again.
Andres watched Vladimir hand Gala the kid but the look on his face was apparent enough for Andres to say he didn't want to. He had noticed Vlad and the kid were inseparable. The only time the kid was away from him was when he was at work since he only had morning shift or when they were kissing. And for some weird reason, that made him feel a speck of jealousy which he knew he shouldn't.
"Money for pizza."
"$500 is already in your debit card." Vlad frowned at her.
She opened her mouth to speak but thought better of it and said instead, "Okay. Have fun on your date then."
"We will." Andres winked at her then added, "But if we hear the slightest complain from the neighbours, we will cut it short and come home. I want this place exactly the way it was. Meaning no parties and no friends. You can call them but they can't come. I won't even tell you what your punishment is going to be. Now take care of Fyo and we'll be back soon."
"Jeez dad, way to take the fun away from being home alone." She rolled her eyes as she followed them to the door.
Taking his coat from the rack, he smiled at the girl and said his final warning to her before taking off after Vlad to the car. They both got in. Andres was driving since he was the one taking Vlad on the date. He reached for his phone in his trouser pocket, contemplating if he should call Barnes to watch over the house.
Vlad stopped him before he could start calling saying, "What you doing?"
"I'm going to call Barnes to watch over the kids."
Vlad narrowed his eyes at him. "But Gala is seventeen. She can take care of herself and Fyo."
"You trust her?" He asked, dropping his phone on his lap then turned to arch a brow at him.
"No, but we would never get chance to know if she is trustable or not if we keep tight leach on her."
"Why wouldn't I? She was in jail twice."
Vlad smiled at him. "Just give her another chance to prove herself."
Andres had to admit, when Vlad smiled at him, it always calmed him down. Kicking up the car, he said as he pulled out of the driveway, "Okay but if anything happens to Fyo-"
"I will kill her." He smiled again at him. "She knows I will."
Andres couldn't help but laugh. Vladimir could be unbelievably terrifying when he calmly threatened like that.
The car fell quiet after and Andres turned up the radio before it got any weird or awkward. Andres hoped the date didn't go bad because he had actually forgotten about it. If he hadn't seen the note he had stuck on his computer screen, then he would have gone home and slept. The work was surprisingly weighing him down.
"So tell me something about yourself?" He asked as they waited on a stop sign.
Vlad sat up straight on his seat and glanced at him. "I am Russian."
"I know that."
"Well, I live with my grandma. Brought me up as her own."
"What about your parents?"
He shrugged. "Zey split up and my dad left me with his parents. He used to come every Zanksgiving or Christmas."
Andres brows knotted up with confusion and he stepped on the gas when the green light finally came on. "Used to?"
"Da. He stopped when he got remarried. At least my father cared. My mother stopped being part of us minute she left my dad. My dad still calls zough, but he never comes over to see me. He even moved and I never knew his new address."
"Wow."
"My family is complicated." He continued on. "My grandpa died when I was still kid. My grandma was very dull for almost two years. Zen my teenage years came and she had to raise me herself. Since I did not want to stress her any longer, I tried to be as good as I could. University was nice. Graduated and job, I already got. Zen my grandma got into coma. Terrible one year of my life."
"Damn. You got it bad. At least you have a job and a way to survive if your ma actually passed away."
Vlad shook his head. "Did not matter. She was only family I had left. I did not want to be lonely. I hate being alone."
Andres sighed and rubbed his thigh reassuringly. "It's going to be fine. You've got me."
The Russian stared at him then looked away sharply to stare at the hand that was still on his lap. Placing a hand on it, Andres instantly felt his face redden and he mentally cursed himself for reacting like that.
Glancing at the Russian, he was surprised to see him smiling and he said, "You talk like you are going to live with me after all zis."
"Isn't there a possibility?"
"Zere is. If I get promoted, I might leave Russia. But where zey transfer me to is not fixed."
"I'm sure I can pull some strings." He smiled when Vlad looked at him.
However, Vlad's expression was sour. "Please stop. Do not say words like zat. It makes my heart ache to know you are only joking with me."
"Vlad-"
"Where are we going?" He cut him off sharply.
Andres took in a deep breath and started to frown but remembered his hand was still on his thigh and that seemed to calm him down. "The club."
"What?" Vlad gapped at him.
It was a last minute decision that Andres was forced to take since there weren't any cool restaurant with reservation. "It's going to be fine. Trust me."
"I do. It should be cool unless zis date is not worth my time." He shrugged looking out the window. "Plus you made me leave Fyodor. It must be cool."
Licking his lip, Andres quickly thought of somewhere else to go if Vlad happened to not like the club they were hastily approaching.
The club was filled. It was relatively big with a small amount of crowd dancing and the others ordering by the bar or booth. Andres immediately liked it because of the breathable air. It was nothing like the club he went to with his friends when he was free. The one back home had been small and smelt of cigarettes and weed.
Glancing beside him at Vladimir, he watched the man rub his exposed arm. Andres had suggested he leave his sweater and coat inside the car, thinking it would be hot inside. Guess he was wrong.
"Hey, if you want to get your sweater-"
Vlad shook his head and smiled. "No. It is fine. It was just really cold out."
As they headed for the bar, Vlad grinned widely and said, "Zis is not so bad. I expected it empty and quite dry."
"So I don't get to be killed?" He joked as he took a seat and Vlad sat beside him.
"Date has not ended yet, 'unny bun. Chances are, something bad might happen and it could easily make zis date terrible."
"Great." He shivered slightly at his twisted smile then called to one of the bartenders. "Hey! Hey man over here."
When the blond female nodded at him, he smiled and looked back at Vlad just when he said, "And what of your parents? I know nothing of zem."
He heaved his shoulders and exhaled. "There's nothing to tell of them. They are living fine."
"Childhood?"
"Plain. Nothing much happened really. Honestly, I felt like I was just passing through when I was in high school. No adventure. No nothing. It was my last year I decided to go into criminal justice since I thought it would be more fun than banking."
The bartender finally attended to them and she asked them what they wanted. Vlad asked for whiskey and Andres asked for something similar. She left them to get it and Vlad leaned closer to him and said, "And is it fun?"
"Yeah. I got everything I wanted at the time."
"What went wrong?"
Andres had to run a hand through his hair as he shook his head. "None of the girls I dated wanted to settle down with a cop."
"None?"
He shook his head again. "I guess it was the kind of women I attracted."
To Andres surprise, Vlad laughed and threw an arm around his shoulder. "Let me guess, you got your women from clubs you went to?"
"How did..." He trailed off when he realized it actually made sense. The moment he started to get serious, they all pulled away or cheated on him.
Shrugging, he thanked the bartender when she brought their drinks then quickly took a swig from it. "Yeah. Probably."
"So, how are your chances with women-" He turned to ask and found Vlad taking everything in his glass in one gulp.
Vlad placed the glass lightly on the table and exhaled noisily. "I needed zat." He gave Andres a cocky smile when he looked at him and added, "Finish up let us dance."
"I don't dance. I'm terrible." He managed to say as he watched Vlad jump out of his seat. He ruffled his straight black hair and the sight of him mixed with the coloured lights reminded him the weird feeling he normally got when they kissed.
It had begun the second time they had kissed when Vlad had been quite willing to let him kiss him. It was amazing compared to the first time and slowly, everything Vlad did had fascinated him.
The way he called him when he was at work to talk about anything or what they wanted to eat that night. The way he took care of the kids. He made him feel like he had a family. Something he had secretly wanted.
"You going to keep staring or you going to dance with me?" Vlad's full brows rose and he smiled at him. "Come on."
"Uh..." Finally giving up on resisting, he finished the drink, glad for the burn in his throat and let Vlad pull him into the dance floor.
Some song was playing and even though it was danceable, Andres didn't know what to do. He had only danced with women who had forced him on the dance floor and then he could only let them grind up on him.
Vlad was already jumping to the beat, easily mixing with the others on the floor who were doing the same thing. Andres felt embarrassed as he stood there as if he was waiting for someone or he didn't know what to do. After trying to move but not feeling it, he decided to go back to the bar.
"Where are you going?" Vlad caught his arm, turning him back to face him. He had slowed down his dancing and Andres could finally see his face. He smiled and pulled him closer. "Do not tell me you brought me to club to just drink?"
"Well..."
"Come on 'unny bun." He rolled his eyes and closed up the place between them.
Andres felt his breath hitch when Vlad leaned his body on him and he swayed them to the slow song that came up.
"Relax. Does music not relax you?" Vlad asked, tilting his head to look at him.
"It does." It did, until Vlad thought it was smart to press his body against his.
"Zen dance with it. Dance with me." Vlad said softly, throwing his arms around his neck then slowly, to Andres' surprise started grinding up on him.
Andres didn't know if it was the drink but he never expected from that Vlad. Drunk or not. Taking a deep breath, he prayed the Russian was at least a little drunk so he wouldn't remember anything of what was about to happen.
Listening to the music, he let it fill him up and free him from the stress that was holding him down. He wrapped his arms around Vlad's slim waist and followed it as he grinded himself on him.
He noticed Vlad's smile when he said, "You are not so bad."
"That's because you are so good." He breathed against his neck, suddenly absorbed in Vlad's scent.
Vlad chuckled as he arched his back, revealing his neck so Andres had more room to suck on it. He smiled against his skin then kissed a wet trail to his Vlad's lips where he sucked on the lower lip. Pulling on it, he stared at Vlad who gazed back him, dazed.
When he let it go, Vlad immediately smacked his lips against Andres', shoving his tongue into his mouth, not even giving him the courtesy of asking. But Andres didn't mind, he loved the way the Russian tasted. He tasted of grapes. Something he hadn't had the pleasure of having in a while.
Vlad kissed him, stopping their dance to cup the nape of his neck and effortlessly deepening the kiss. Andres couldn't have enough. It had been so long he wanted to taste someone so bad and worse, he knew Vlad must have noticed because it was definitely not a banana pocking his thigh.
They pulled away to catch their breath and Vlad leaned his forehead on his as he ran a thumb on his bottom lip. "Zat was amazing."
"Your kisses are amazing."
Vlad shook his head immediately as he moved weirdly as if he couldn't stand. He regained his balance by putting his whole weight on Andres who was then forced to hold his body against his. He stuttered but managed to say, "No. You are more amazing. Your kisses set my blood on fire and zey get me so hard."
"Vlad-"
Cutting him off by standing up straight, Vlad tried to pull away from Andres but Andres knew he wouldn't be able to stand straight for long since he was already drunk.
"Relax Vlad."
Vlad's eyes narrowed but he smiled and kissed him lightly on his lips. "You are beautiful man." He grinned widely then smacked his lips together before adding, "Question you asked me before about women, I never answered it."
Looking around, Andres knew it was time to take him to a booth because the dance floor was getting too crowded and it would be utterly embarrassing if Vlad decided to pass out then.
"You don't have to answer it," He said as he pulled a drunk Vlad away from the dance floor to look for an empty booth.
Luckily, there was a free booth not so far away. Andres pulled him over to it and managed to get Vlad to stay put while he went to get two glasses of water. When he got back, Vlad was on his phone making Andres curse.
Taking the phone from him, he replaced it with the glass of water. Vlad pouted at him and said, "I wanted to call my ma."
"Why?" He asked just to keep him talking. He didn't want him passing out yet.
After a good gulp of water, he answered, "I wanted to tell her I might have boyfriend."
Andres chuckled. "You know this isn't real right?"
"We could make it real." He shrugged then leaned his elbow on the table to rest his chin on his palm. "I like you."
He rose a confused brow at that. "Again, you do know none of this is real right?"
"And I am not really straight. I was never sure of my sexuality, zat was why I did not want to kiss you because I might like you. But now zat I have and we have been doing it for long time, I have to admit, I am falling for you."
"You're drunk." He tried to brush it off.
"Does zat not make me more sincere?"
That stopped him from taking another gulp from his water. Was what he was saying true? If so, doesn't that mean when he woke up he was going to forget everything and then remember at a bad time and hate him? Because Andres knew Vlad wouldn't want to tell him such on his own.
Clearing his throat awkwardly, he decided to brush off the topic again. He waved his hand in the air but Vlad caught it and entwined his hand together with his. "I do not know, but I have zis odd feeling zat you do not mind me being gay."
"Wait, you haven't been with a woman?"
Vlad sighed and looked away. "I have. Numerous. But none of zem zrill me like you do. I am not saying zere would not be women out zere zat would make me feel like zis, I am saying only one I know right now is you. And I love how you make me feel."
"Vlad-"
"I'm not saying I love you," he continued, stroking his knuckles then bringing it up to kiss it. "I'm saying date me."
"Vlad-"
"I know we only have zree more weeks but I am sure we can make something work."
Andres fell silent as he gapped at the man that held his hand. He had long since drowned out the music and the people around the him since Vlad started his awkward confession.
"Vladimir, you know that can't happen. It's three weeks." Andres was hating himself as he said it.
"What is wrong with zree weeks?" He stared at him as if searching for the answer.
"It's too short. If I end up having feelings for you, I'm going to hate myself for letting you go all the way to Russia."
"B-But when I leave, and I work hard, I might get promotion. I might be sent to where you stay to work."
Might. Might was where the problem was. If there wasn't any might he would have given it a thought but there was no point. There was no point having real feelings for Vlad. He could admire the man from afar but he knew if they got involved it wouldn't end well. Long distance relationship never ends well.
Cursing under his breath, he stood up sharply from the booth, snatching his hand away and glaring down at the Russian.
"It's never going to happen Vlad. We can never be together. Pretend to be dads' fine but really get involved is something I don't want to do for the same reason why you didn't want to kiss me the first day." Inhaling deeply, he added, "Stand up, we are going home."
