Welcome to Rainbow bay
The Daddy Project
Vlad drew on his cigarette, loving the way it warmed him up, but annoyed by the fact that it gave him no reason why he was in the situation he was in.
First, waking up in the arms of another man had almost frozen him only to see that he had kids? Vlad kept laughing. He couldn't help laughing. First gay then daddies? What the fuck? Then he and his supposed 'husband' opened the package to see this was all just a fucking experiment.
Honestly, he hadn't been that terrified when he finally understood what was going on. Andres, his 'husband' had been cursing in some language Vlad didn't know. He, on the other hand, was very angry.
Vlad couldn't wait to see the other couple. Their expressions just had to be priceless.
Turning to his 'husband', he bumped his shoulder with him when he saw how depressed he looked. Vlad didn't know if he spoke much English because most of the time, it was in the other language.
"Don't be angry. Zis is just game. If we win, we leave. Zey better pay us for it." Vladimir said, taking the box with the information and task so Andres could stop staring at it like it destroyed him.
Vlad had no idea why he was even laid back. He hated having a family, now he had one. This was just going to be fun for him.
"We should call the cops." Andres repeated the same thing he had been saying since 'their' big girl, Gala, woke them up from where they were laid together, cuddling on the couch of their sitting room.
Vlad laughed loudly at that but got distracted before he could respond. Two men entered the café they were in and they seemed to make a brief eye contact him before looking away. Vlad got a weird feeling but ignored it as he stood to dispose of his cancer stick.
He came to sit back down just when the two men walked over to their table and introduced themselves.
The shorter one with adorable looking face started, "I'm Stuart and this is, um..." He trailed off as he stared at the man by his side. He was probably confused about how to introduce him.
However, the other man just brushed it off and smiled, "Hi, I'm Leon. His husband." He said it then froze. In fact, Stuart also froze because he hardly moved from where he stood as he looked baffled at Leon.
"Um," Andres must have noticed because he cleared his throat awkwardly knocking them out of their stupor and they looked blankly at Andres and Vlad. "I'm Andres and this is Vlad. I'm going to assume the both of you are the other couple." They nodded quickly and joined the table before Andres continued, "Great. So what should we do?"
"I say we do. Zere is no other way out." Vlad answered, leaning back on his table and picking up his Ice Capp to take a sip from it.
"Wow. Russian." Stuart nodded as if that was going to help their present dilemma. "It's liked they picked us from different countries. I'm from Australia. Leon's Canadian." Then he looked at Andres. "You are probably from somewhere in South America. You've got that Brazilian look."
"I would say sexy but we in time of crisis." Vladimir said, still sucking on his drink and loving how it made that slurping sound that looked like it annoyed Leon from the way his eye twitched.
"Could you stop that? It's a terrible habit." Leon frowned at him but quickly turned back to his 'husband' before continuing, "We should call the cops or something. They should be able to do something."
Andres had to reach for Vlad when he started choking on his drink from laughing too hard. He couldn't help it. And their annoyed faces just fueled him more.
"What exactly was funny Russian? What I suggested was reasonable, wasn't it?" Leon furrowed his brows in annoyance and Vlad desperately tried to bite back a laugh.
"Oh it was. Too bad zat is problem since my hunny bun here happens to be cop of town and all. And he has strict rules not to do shit."
Leon and Stuart's eyes widened, shock apparent on their faces. They both looked at Andres who looked more than just depressed.
"It's true. They'll know if I try to escape and the last thing I need is staying here another one month. How about we just follow Vlad's plan? It's the only way out." Andres said as he let go of Vlad who finally stopped coughing.
Vlad leaned on the table to steady himself just when a hand slammed down hard on it. It sent a shock through him and he almost jumped out of the table if Andres didn't have such sharp reflexes. He was perfect for that cop job.
Sharply, Stuart stood up from the table and glared down at them. All of them, including his own 'husband'. "I'm not doin' this. I've got a life to get back to and a family to ignore. I don't want to be here."
"Zen go." Vlad said, slowly getting annoyed by how he couldn't just adjust to the condition they were. "Go because minute you or I or Leon crosses zat leaving Rainbow bay line, my hunny bun has every right putting us in jail. I doubt you would like zat seeing as zat is exactly what you are going to do. I would say fucking play along or we never leave here."
Vlad didn't care if the pretty boy was mad. He had to accept it somehow. Sure, he could try and leave but Vlad knew Andres would do whatever the fuck The Gay Project asked him to. And arresting the dude was one of them. He too had a family he needed to see.
Clenching and unclenching his fist, Stuart glared at them, frowning at them as if they were the ones who caused this problem. Vlad just returned it with a bored look. Uncool assholes like Stuart made him look like a bad guy.
"I'm done with this." He huffed before leaving the seat, not even waiting for his 'husband'.
Stuart left the restaurant and Vlad rolled his eyes at the man's childishness. He looked at Leon and said, "You have tough one to deal with."
Giving him a droll stare, Leon said, "Couldn't tell him any nicer?"
Vlad gave him a cocky grin. "I am mean. Took it from my dad."
The men fell into an uncomfortable silence when a scream was heard and a lady shouted for someone to call 911. Vlad perked up at that and out of habit, ran out to see the commotion just in front of the Tim Hortons shop.
And lo and behold, Stuart laid fainted on the floor of the street. Vlad didn't like him one bit, but too bad he was a nurse because a man's got to do what a man's got to do.
...
Closing the folder, the doctor smiled at Stuart who laid awake on the hospital bed. The doctor was just explaining to Stuart why he had fainted, but the look on Stuart's face made Vlad believe he already knew his condition.
"You were out for just a couple hours. You'll be free to go once your husband signs you out." The doctor was saying. A relatively old man but still had that aura of authority. Didn't look friendly either. He glanced at Vlad who stood by the door, ready to do whatever he asked, then looked back at Stuart who stared at his hands. "Mr. Jacobi-Holmes, we checked your files and found out you are diabetic. It seems you sugar level had gone lower than normal. Does this fainting happen often?"
"If you were my doctor, you'll know that." He said quietly, looking slowly up at that doctor. "I've been diabetic for four years now. My doctor was the one who told me to carry a little honey around in case I start havin' my episodes." He gave him a disgusted look then frowned at Vlad who was hardly offended by it. "Where's Leon?"
"Went to pick kids up. He said, will be back in a jiffy."
He made a frustrated noise in response then looked out the window dismissively. The doctor sighed then walked out of the room. Vlad saw no need to stay any longer since Stuart wasn't the talkative type and left to meet Andres in the waiting room.
Andres walked up to him worriedly and that made Vlad quickly assume he was a general nice guy. "Is he okay? Leon's been worried sick."
"He is not here, yes?" Vlad asked.
"No, but he will soon. He said he'll be bringing the kids over." He answered, his pupils dilated with interest. "Why ask that?"
"Because I want to leave and not see them. Zey make my skin crawl." He rolled his eyes and pulled Andres who just looked more puzzled by the answer.
Vlad let Andres drive because he tends to speed when he was in a mood. Without much words said, they finally got home and Andres parked the car in the driveway as Vlad said, "Where are kids?" He had to ask because it was already late. The last thing he needed was the school calling to tell him they left their kids at school. So much for pretending.
"This woman, Christie, it's said we normally dump the kids at her house when we want alone time. I called her up to come and take them. She called me back to tell me she had them just before you came out."
"Great, because last zing I want to see right now, kids. I don't hate kids, but I just feel you have to be ready for them before you have zem." Vlad nodded at him and released a sigh before jumping out of the car and jugging into the house.
Relieved from the cold shivering air outside, Vlad was happy to find the house quite warm. Compared to the cottage his ma and he stayed, the house was pretty nice.
Vlad hadn't heard when Andres came into the living room where he had fallen down on the couch until he said, "Can we talk?"
Vlad laughed. Honestly, he found everything funny. "Ah, old break up line. Do not tell me we getting divorce." He joked, looking over the back of the couch at Andres who stood tall in the his black coat he was taking of and nice blue jeans.
"Well, that wasn't in the list of things we shouldn't do."
He didn't know if he was joking or not but he didn't like that suggestion. He might not like the whole be gay and daddy thing but he would pick that over divorce and running away from the town like a fugitive.
Vlad watched the man walk up to sit beside him and Andres continued, running a hand through his hair in obvious frustration, "So, finally want to read the task? We do it, we get the money. Our accounts are as dry as hell."
Sitting up right, he nodded at Andres and the man opened the envelope and took out a blue card. Andres read it to himself first, his eyes wideneing slightly before finally realizing there was a Russian beside him.
"It said;
We hope the information given helps you out. If you happen to need anything, text this number 457-xxxx-9853. Text not call. If tasks are done properly, you can either accept the cash that will come in a text from that very number we gave you or you could decline and ask for something else.
This should be your easiest Task and the fastest way to make money. It is an ongoing task that doesn't exactly have a deadline. For every second you spend making out, you will get ten times the time. If Andres kisses Vlad for five seconds, the both of you get $50. This might change with time but for now...
The Gay Project."
Yeah, Vlad had had it. He was calling quits this night. "I am sleeping in room."
"But-"
"Nyet, Brazilian. I am taking the bloody bed. You can come and sleep with me. I do not mind zat."
"I'm Colombian actually." He corrected but Vlad was already on the stairs.
"Okay hunny bun. Goodnight."
Someone please give him a break.
