Chapter Ten

Midnight Snack (Motionless In White/Ricky Horror) *COMPLETED*

ROSE

Standing outside Ville and Lauri's door I was nervous, what if they told me something I didn't want to hear. Deciding to get it over and done with I knock once, and Lauri opens the door straight away as if he was waiting on the other side. Then again as I'm the only human in the house with a heartbeat he probably heard me stood outside the door.

"Come in Rose."

He stands aside and motions for me to enter. I notice suitcases out and Ville packing.

"Are you guys going somewhere?"

"Our job here is done so we're heading back to Finland."

Lauri shuts the bedroom door behind me and walks ahead of me to sit at the end of the bed. Ville motions for me to sit down in one of the armchairs in the middle of the room.

"This room is soundproof Rose; no one will be overhearing any words spoken inside these walls. Now you have something on your mind."

I chew my lip thinking where to start first, the death manipulation seemed like the right move.

"The night I ran away, I used death manipulation on my sister. I changed how she was meant to die without really thinking about what I was doing."

Ville nods and sits down opposite me while Lauri perches on the arm.

"How did you change her death?"

"She was meant to go to a cheer tournament the next day, she was a flyer so was thrown in the air a lot. I saw her being dropped, snapping her neck and dying before the ambulance arrived. I tried to make her not go so we started arguing and she called me a freak, she said if I could see death then I should go ahead and change her death to right now otherwise she'd go to the tournament anyway."

I start to tear up just thinking of the final moments I spent with my sister and how they were negative. Lauri pats my knee giving me the will to continue my story, I can't believe I was telling this story to two vampires from Finland instead of Chris who'd taken me into his home, or Josh who'd become my vampire best friend.

"I jokingly said she should just trip, fall down the stairs and snap her neck which was a simple death for a simple person. There was nothing on the landing for her to trip on, but it was if she tripped on something invisible before she fell down the stairs and snapped her neck. Even though my parents saw I didn't push her or anything, they knew I did something and after that I had to get away, knowing I'd taken from them their favourite daughter."

Ville sighs, "at that point in time you only thought you could see death before it happened. Yes, it's tragic when someone dies, but don't ever blame yourself. Now you know what you're capable of and can work towards controlling it in the future."

Hearing Ville say I shouldn't blame myself for my sister's death was like a weight off my shoulder. It seemed that everyone else in town thought I was a cold-blooded killer.

"Thanks, Ville, I think I needed to hear that I'm not that much of a heartless killer."

"Is there something else on your mind Rose?" Lauri interrupts.

Ville shoots Lauri a look that told him to be quiet and I would bring my other problems up with them when I wanted to. Lauri pouts and raises his hands in surrender. I chuckle under my breath, him and Ville had the perfect relationship.

"Lauri's right I do have something else on my mind and it actually happened in town earlier when I was having coffee with my friend Oliver. Is it possible for something or someone to block my death sense? Because it kind of happened."

Ville raises an eyebrow, "when we came into town I couldn't sense any other supernatural beings other than vampires. That shouldn't happen Rose, the only thing or person who could block you is another death sense or death himself."

I'd have to get to the bottom of this at some point, if there was someone else like me in town then maybe we could bond and deal with our power together.

"Why do you guys have to leave? I need you here."

Ville chuckles, "I think you're the only person who wants us here Rose. You can have our numbers and ring us if anything comes up. It was nice meeting you kid."

I pout but accept the fact that they couldn't stay where they weren't wanted. Getting up I hug the two vampires before offering to help them with their bags. To my surprise, Chris was still out of the house with Angelo and none of the other vampires knew where they'd gone.

Waving the two European vampires off another car pulls up the drive. It wasn't Chris's so I assumed it was Angelo's since Ryan and Vinny came here on foot. Deciding not to linger in the doorway I walk back into the house and into the lounge where everyone was lazing around.

"So the two douche vampires have finally left."

"Be nice Josh, I didn't think they were that bad. If anything they helped me understand a lot."

I swat Josh who rolls his eyes at me while Ryan and Vinny make kissing noises in our direction, leading to Josh shooting them a colourful gesture or two.

"We leave you alone for a couple of hours and you turn into children."

Chris stands tall in the doorway staring down at us disapprovingly and I was half tempted to play the kid role and say Ryan and Vinny started it, but Vinny beats me to the punchline.

"Err Chris technically Rose is a child."

Josh beats me to throwing a cushion at Vinny's head; at least I had Josh on my side. A girl laughs behind Chris grabbing my attention.

"Aren't you going to introduce us, Chris?"

Chris stands aside and three people step forwards, one being the girl who had half red and half black hair which scream gothic queen.

"Rose get ready to meet even more vampires. This beauty is Ash, she can escape anything with ease even if it looks impossible."

Ash winks and blows me a kiss if I swung that way I'd have swooned because she was very attractive.

Next to Ash stood a guy who looked like he'd been plucked out of the film Beetlejuice.

"Don't be fooled by Ghost's sweet exterior, he has deadly sin projection. He can project a sin onto someone or a whole crowd so keep on his good side."

Ghost bows like a gentleman, but now I knew that Vinny looked cute but had bite I'd be wary around Ghost at all costs.

"And finally we have Ricky. He can manipulate fears and project them on whatever scale he deems fit. But he doesn't use his ability for bad, as far as I'm aware."

There was something inside me that felt immediately drawn to Ricky. He looked like he was an outcast like me.

"You should change this house into a vampire hotel, Chris." Josh Jokes.

Chris rolls his eyes, "you guys wouldn't pay me rent even if I asked. These three decided to show up once word got out that I'd crawled out of my hole."

Everyone makes themselves comfortable in the lounge. Chris sits down opposite me and raises an eyebrow and I knew what he was going to ask.

"Are you going to ask me how coffee with Oli went Chris? You look like you want to know all the juicy details."

Chris nods and sits back in his seat.

"It wasn't a date like you insisted it was Chris, Oli and I are just friends. But it was cut short because some bitchy people from school annoyed us. However, it was nice catching up with a dear friend."

RICKY

Rose was beautiful, even more so than how Chris described her in the car. He seemed very protective of her, almost like he found a new kid to father because Rose was similarly aged to his dead daughter.

She leaves the room to go grab something from her room while Chris shows the rest of us where we'd be sleeping. I walk alongside Josh who smiles and nudges me in the side, he was a very good friend.

"You like Rose don't you Ricky?"

I nod and bite my lip. Josh chuckles and wraps an arm around my shoulder.

"That Oli guy is no threat. He likes Rose but she's oblivious to his true feelings, she friend zoned him without knowing it."

I was glad to hear that I had no competition for Rose's affection. Now I just needed to get to know her, if Chris allowed me.
