Chapter 1076
When His Eyes Opened
Over at Starry River Villa, Mrs. Cooper placed an envelope in front of Avery.
âWould you like me to open it for you, Avery? Or do you want to open it yourself?â asked Mrs. Cooper
Avery picked up the envelope and carefully read the senderâs information.
The envelope came from a small country she was unfamiliar with.
She opened the enveloped and pulled out a postcard.
The moment she saw the postcard, Wesleyâs face appeared in her mind.
âIs it from Wesley?â asked Mrs. Cooper. âIs it the same address as before?â
Avery shook her head. âItâs not the same address. Elliot was planning on checking out the address the
last postcard came from after the wedding, but he moved to another country again.â
âIs he traveling the world?!â Mrs. Cooper said with furrowed brows.
Avery carefully looked through the postcard.
It was a handmade postcard with a drawing of a bride and groom on it.
âI never knew he was this good at drawing,â she mumbled softly. âI wonder how heâs doing right now.
There was no reason for him to leave his home because of what happened.â
âExactly! Heâs an only son. His parents must be miserable, going this long without him!â said Mrs.
Cooper. âAre you still unable to contact him?â
âI canât get through to him at all. He isnât using his old number anymore.â
âCall him heartless, but at least he remembered the twinsâ birthday. He even knows about your wedding.
It means heâs still paying attention to the news in Aryadelle. Heâs such a contradictory
person!â
Avery placed the postcard down, then said, âWeâll just have to wait and see if he can let things go in the
future.â
âIs Mike arriving at noon?â
âHe is.â Avery checked the time, then said, âIâll go to the airport now to pick him up.â
âItâs still early. Besides, you could just ask the driver to go. Itâd be troublesome if you get recognized at
the airport,â said Mrs. Cooper. âYouâre a celebrity now, after all.â
âIâll take the bodyguard with me. I really want to know how Haydenâs doing.â
âAlright, then. Make sure you wear a face mask when you leave.â
âI will.â
Avery stored the postcard, changed her clothes, left the house.
The next day was her and Elliotâs wedding.
Wedding guests from abroad had been arriving in the city for the past couple of days. Elliot was
entertaining the guests at the resort at that moment.
Once Avery picked up Mike from the airport, they would head over to the resort together.
Avery was reading a book in a bookstore at the airport when the bodyguard walked over with Mike.
âWhat are you reading? You look really engrossed in it!â Mike placed his arm around Averyâs shoulders,
then said, âThe announcement of your wedding really rocked the world! You even made headlines in
Bridgedale. Hasnât Elliot always kept a low profile? Iâm not used to this high-profile side of him.â
Avery took the book she was reading over to the cashier to pay for it, âWhatâs wrong with going a little
over the top for our one and only wedding?â she said in response to his teasing.
âTsk. Havenât you heard that showing off your love makes it die quicker? With such a high-profile
wedding, if anything scandalous happens after you get married, then youâll be an international laughing
stock.â
Mike could never quite break his habit of being a harbinger of doom. âCanât you just wish us a loving and
happy marriage?â
