Chapter 194
When His Eyes Opened
âYou must be Avery.â Zoe went forward to greet her, âNice to meet you, Iâm Zoe.â
Avery glanced at her and said without enthusiasm, âYeah, Iâm leaving now.â
Avery and Hayden left.
Zoe watched as she left and zoned out for a moment.
Avery was younger and more beautiful than she imagined.
Why did she look for Elliot today? She even brought a boy hereâ¦was that Elliotâs son?
So, she came here with the boy, trying to get back with Elliot?
Thinking of this, Zoe felt disgusted.
Would Elliot get back with Avery because of this?
âElliot, sorry to show up unannounced.â Zoe pointed at the cake on the table, âMy friend bought this cake
for me but I canât finish it on my own so I brought this over.â
Elliot glanced at the cake, âHappy birthday, did you receive your gift?â
Zoe halted, âSomeone did send me a parcel in the afternoon. I didnât know it was you who sent it, so I
havenât opened it.â
Elliot nodded, âI donât eat cake, and neither does Shea. You can eat with Mrs. Cooper!â
With that said, he walked toward Shea and brought her back to her room.
.
After they had left, Zoe took out the cake.
âMrs. Cooper, when did Avery come?â Zoe smiled as she cut a slice for Mrs. Cooper.
Mrs. Cooper said, âNot long ago. She came to pick up her son.â
âOhâ¦that boy was her son! He doesnât seem too young!â
Mrs. Cooper said, âHe was adopted.â
Zoe was shocked and at the same time, the alarm in her was lifted, âI thought he was a child of hers and
Elliot.â
âThey did have a child. If they did not abort the baby, the baby should be around the age of that kid now.â
Mrs. Cooper thought there was no harm to say this. After all, this happened a long time ago. âI guess
Avery adopted this kid to make up for the aborted baby.â
Zoe asked, âWhy did they abort the baby?â
Mrs. Cooper said, âMaster Elliot didnât want it. He doesnât like children. Miss Sanford, my
advice to you is that, if you want to stay with him, donât mention having a baby. Even if you have it, he will
ask for an abortion.â
Zoe nodded quickly, âThank you for reminding me.â
On the way home, Avery asked her son, âDid Elliot bully you?â
Hayden said, âNo.â
Avery asked, âWas he mean to you?â
Hayden said, âNo.â
Avery let out a sigh of relief, âHayden, why donât I transfer you to another school?â
âYou donât need to,â Hayden said.
âYou like this school a lot?â Avery asked.
âI donât hate it,â Hayden replied.
It was because he had no friends and nobody bossed him around.
The teachers worshipped him and let him do anything he wanted. He had more freedom than when he
was at home.
âIâm afraid that you might bump into Elliot next time, what if he brings you home againâ¦â Avery was
worried.
She claimed that Hayden was adopted, how long would this excuse work?
If Elliot started to suspect her one day and ran a DNA test on Hayden, her lie would be exposed.
By then, both of her children would be in danger.
âHe is my father, right?â Hayden said as he fiddled with a piece of paper.
Avery glanced at her son, âHow do you know?â
âHe looks like me,â Hayden replied. Avery did not know whether to laugh or cry, âWas it that obvious?â
