Chapter 1956
When His Eyes Opened
âChad! Donât panic! Elliotâs body hasnât been found yet! Maybe he escaped long ago!â Ben Schaffer
said, wanting Chad to cheer up.
Chad took a deep breath and barely stood firm: âThe door to go down from that house is locked from
the outside. The other exit in the basement is welded to death, my boss⦠how can he⦠Escape?! His
clothes were obviously given to Avery! It means that they were trapped in the basement together! At
least they both stayed in the basement for a long time, otherwise why would he take off his clothes to
Avery? If he really escaped, why didnât he contact us? Why didnât he save Avery?!â
Chad said more and more excited.
âBut thereâs no body of him below!â Ben Schaffer pushed the glasses on the bridge of his nose, âI donât
believe he is dead! I donât believe it!â
Nick saw the two of them quarreling, and immediately said: âYou two, stop arguing. Iâll call the police
and let the police investigate. Iâll let the bodyguards keep an eye on it, and once I find Elliotâs
whereabouts, Iâll notify you immediately.â
âYou two should go to the hospital to see Averyâs condition!â Nick continued, âI want to know whether
Avery is alive or dead. If she is still alive, then she can answer the questions you want to know.â
Ben glanced at the bungalow behind him, which was surrounded by Nickâs bodyguards.
If Elliot was still inside, Nickâs people would definitely be able to find him.
âDidnât you say Avery is not dead? Letâs go to the hospital then!â Ben Schaffer grabbed Chadâs arm and
pulled him away, âWhen Avery wakes up, Iâll know where Elliot went!â
Chad tears, wet the lens.
He pushed Ben Schafferâs hand away and reached out to take off his glasses.
âBrother Ben, thatâs just what I said to deceive myself!â Chad didnât wipe the tears from his glasses or
his face.
He stood in the mud, motionless.
âI know⦠Iâm also deceiving myself.â Ben Schafferâs eyes were scarlet, holding back tears, âAs long as
Elliot and Avery are together, they wonât be so desperate.â
There are few people, even if they want to check, they canât find anything.
Unless Avery wakes up⦠But, can she wake up?
After more than an hourâs drive, Avery was sent to the largest hospital in Yonroeville.
Hayden watched his mother being pushed into the emergency room, watched the door of the
emergency room close, and sweat and tears dripped down his angular facial features.
His heart was beating violently and his mind went blank.
He has been studying hard and making money all the time, not only because he wants to surpass
Elliot, but also because he wants to protect his mother and prevent her from being bullied by anyone.
But now, Elliotâs whereabouts are unknown, and his motherâs life and death are unknown. He seems to
have no support or motivation to continue working hard.
When Ben Schaffer and Chad arrived, Hayden was still standing at the door of the emergency room,
his body stiff as if he had turned into a statue.
âHeâs been there for almost two hours.â The bodyguard yawned, âIf you talk to him, he doesnât care.â
Ben Schaffer pulled Chad and told him not to disturb him.
âLet him wait at the door.â Ben Schaffer understood Haydenâs pain, âAvery hasnât come out after being
sent in for so long, does that mean there is still hope?â
Bodyguard: âWhat hope is there? Her body is cold⦠I touched it quietly.â
The bodyguardâs words were like a spell, making Hayden wake up from a rigid state. âMy mother is not
dead! She is not dead!â
