Chapter 198
When His Eyes Opened
When Avery heard his questioning, she had a wave of emotions.
âWhat did your girlfriend say to you?â she asked.
Elliot halted. He had not visited Zoe.
After listening to the recording, he got triggered and so he called her first.
âAvery, Iâm asking you! Donât change the topic!â His tone was more serious this time.
When Avery heard him yell, she began fuming, âIsnât it obvious? I burned your girlfriendâs hand with
boiling water! Tell her to stay away from me, if not, I will burn her face!â
Elliot was speechless.
Avery, âWhyâre you not speaking? Are you not trying to speak up for your girlfriend?â
Elliot gulped and gritted his teeth.
âIf Miss Sanfordâs hands are damaged, who will operate on your Shea? sigh, Iâm suddenly so worried.
Elliot Foster, will you take revenge on me?â Avery continued.
âAvery Tate, even a fool knows you didnât mean that! Even so, I do get angry listening to what you say!â
Elliot responded to her triggering words.
âThen stop calling me! You called on behalf of her, did you think I would cry to you saying I didnât do it
and then ask for your forgiveness? This is more absurd than a dream!â Avery refuted coldly. There was a
knock on the office door.
Avery held on to her phone as she called out to her door, âCome in!â
Her assistant came in, not knowing that she was on her phone, âMiss Tate, a man named Cole Foster
claimed to be your friend. He would like to meet you.â
Avery said to her phone, âYour nephew is here, Iâm not talking to you anymore!â
After hanging up, Avery walked to the washroom.
Five minutes later, Cole was brought to Averyâs office by her assistant.
Avery had already calmed herself down.
Looking at that familiar face of Coleâs, she felt disgusted as ever.
Her assistant closed the door when leaving.
âAvery, I canât believe youâre back! I just found out youâre back a few days ago. You spent six hundred
million buying the building for Tate Industries and it went viral! However, I was busy a few days ago so I
couldnât visit you.â
Cole walked toward Avery with a smirk.
âCole, youâre more annoying than before.â Avery looked at him, âWhat brings you here?â
âI came here to catch up with youâ¦â
âOkay, then letâs talk about Cassandraâs death.â Avery walked over from her table, ready to â catch upâ
with him.
Coleâs face changed, âSheâs dead, why do you mention her?â
âHow could you be so cruel! Back then, during your Uncle and my wedding, you two were so happy!
Have you forgotten?â Avery saw his face turning red and white, she continued, âIf this is the attitude you
show to a woman you slept with, why would you even remember me?â
Cole was extremely triggered but he dared not offend her, he wanted to please her but did not know how
to.
âSince thereâs nothing left in us, you came here to talk about money?â Avery asked, âUnless you think
starting my business is tiring and you want to lend me money? Right, howâs your company doing? Youâre
probably earning quite a lot? If you want to lend me money, you wonât take interest, right?â
Cole was speechless.
Regret was all he felt.
He should not have come.
Avery attacked him with words.
âAvery, can we not go against one another.â Cole sighed.
Avery took out her phone and texted Tammy to complain about him while speaking to him,â How are we
going against one another? Iâm just trying to help you grow up. Youâre not young now and youâre still
thinking of using women to get rich? Iâd rather adopt a dog than find you!
