Chapter 25
When His Eyes Opened
âThereâs a close friend that I used to know. She needs a nanny to take care of her grandchildren, and
the pay is very high. I thought about it. A job is just a job anyway, so I went to try it out. Today is the
third day o f work, and everything is fine so far. I can earn a thousand and five hundred a month!â
âYour father is already gone, and he didnât leave you with any property. I canât hold you back,â Laura
added.
Averyâs tears fell uncontrollably once she heard it.
âA close friend of yours is quite rich, isnât she?â Her voice was a little hoarse, but now that she started
crying, her voice became even hoarser.
âBeing a nanny for a friend⦠it must be tough!â
âItâs not tough! Now as long as I can make money, Iâm satisfied. My pride isnât worth as much!
Moreover, the rich will not necessarily stay rich their whole lives. Maybe Iâm not as rich as my friend
now, but maybe my daughter will make a lot of money in the future.â
Laura took a few tissues and wiped Averyâs tears.
âMom⦠you donât have to go to work. I can do a part-time job. I can work next yearâ¦â Avert burst into
tears.
âYouâre pregnant now, how are you going to work? Avery, if you really want to keep the child, we canât
keep on like this.â Laura frowned and was very puzzled. âWhy does Elliot not want this child? Itâs his
own flesh and blood!â
âHe likes another woman.â
âReally? Then why didnât he marry that woman?â. Lauraâs face was ashen, and she felt sorry for her
daughter.
âI have no idea.â
âItâs alright. Donât be afraid. If it really doesnât work, letâs hide and give birth to this baby. We keep it
from him.â
Laura took Avery into her arms and patted her shoulder lightly.
Three days later.
Avery received a call from Cole.
He asked her to meet him. 1
After thinking for a few seconds, she agreed.
His purpose for a meetup, must be because of the child.
Cafe.
Avery stared at Coleâs face several times.
He had several band-aids on his face, and even with the band-aids on, the large bruises were still
visible.
âStop looking at me. My uncle did this. If you hadnât said that the child you were carrying was mine, my
uncle wouldnât have beaten.me.â Cole said in a dull tone. Resigned, he continued, âJust treat it as my
repayment for you! But when you asked me to elope with you, I really didnât have the courage.â
âCole Foster, your problem is not that you didnât elope with me. If I donât bring up the matter between
you Cand Cassandra now, are you going to hide it from me forever?â Avery picked up the glass of
water and
took a sip.
âWhen did you find out?â Cole looked at her in surprise.
âNo wonder you never replied to my messages or answered my calls.â
Avery took a deep breath and asked, âDo you know where Cassandra is now? Her uncle took the
money from my dadâs company. I wonât let it go easily.â
âSheâs traveling around the world⦠Itâs useless to find her for what her uncle did.â
âIsnât she traveling around the world with the money of my dadâs company?!â
âThatâs her dad too. Avery, I know youâre angry, but please calm down. Donât worry about the mess that
your dad left behind.â Cold stretched out a big palm, trying to hold her hand, but she quickly avoided it.
âAvery, Iâm sorry. Cassandra and I are not like what you think. I have never loved her. The reason that
Iâm with her⦠is because she seduced me. Men canât control their lust and instinct most of the timeâ¦
The woman I love the most in my heart has always been you.â
Avery got goosebumps in disgust.
âYou may not know it, but my injuries are more serious than they seem, but I donât blame you.â Cole
said miserably. âI was in the hospital for a few days, and I havenât been discharged yet. I came to you in
such a hurry because I wanted to ask you, just whose child is it that youâre carrying in your belly?â (1)
âThe child is gone. Whatâs the point of asking this again?â Avery replied.
âOh⦠Avery, letâs work together!â Cole said his true purpose. âYou still have a chance to approach him
now. You find a way to kill him, and when he dies, no one can bully us again.â
