Chapter 329
When His Eyes Opened
Chapter 329 âCanât the bodyguard and nanny watch her? Itâs been so long since weâve had a drink!â
Ben said, then whispered in Elliotâs ear, âAvery went abroad today.â
Elliotâs eyes turned dark.
He suddenly had the urge to drink.
Ben booked a spot at a rooftop restaurant.
The two men stood by the railings with a bottle of wine in hand each and looked out into the starry night
sky as they drank in silence.
The spring breeze was cool and stuck to every inch of their skin.
When they were done with their first bottles, Ben turned to Elliot and asked, âDid you agree to the
engagement with Zoe as thanks for Sheaâs treatment?â
âMy mother wanted me to marry her. Avery also told me to live a good life with her. Sheaâs treatment is
just a minor reason.â
Elliot lifted his head slightly, revealing his long, sensual neck.
His Adamâs apple rolled in his throat, then he said hoarsely, âAvery wanted nothing but to draw a line
between us, so Iâm simply granting her wish.â
Avery should be happy now that he was engaged to Zoe!
âWhatâs with that expression? Itâs just an engagement, not marriage. Even if you get married, you can
always get a divorce!â Ben said as he patted Elliotâs shoulder when he saw the pained expression on
his face. âCome on. Letâs have another drink.â
A week later, Shea suddenly appeared at the door to Hayden and Laylaâs classroom at Starry River
Kindergarten.
This time, there was no smile on her face.
She always had a silly grin on her face every time they met before.
Hayden and Layla walked out of the classroom.
âIâm here to see you one last time, Hayden and Laylaâ¦â Shea said as tears glistened in her eyes.
âWhy is it the last time? Dirt⦠I mean, is Elliot Foster stopping you from seeing us again?â Layla said,
catching herself before she slipped her tongue.
Shea shook her head as tears streamed down her face.
âIâm dying. I donât think⦠I have much time left to live.â
Hayden and Layla looked helplessly at her as sadness surged inside them.
Shea took out the bag she brought with her.
âI wanted to give you my most precious treasure because you are my best friends.â
She wiped the tears off her face, then pulled out a jewelry box and several photo albums from the bag.
These were her most valuable and favorite things.
Elliot had bought them all for her.
Tears escaped Laylaâs eyes, then she burst into sobs, âDonât die, Shea! You wonât die! Put these things
away! Hayden and I donât want them!â
Mrs. Scarlet wiped her own tears next to them.
Shea was falling into unconsciousness every night ever since the surgery.
Logically, she was supposed to be energetic the next day after a night of sleep.
However, things were the exact opposite.
Shea threw a tantrum that day and insisted on going to see Hayden and Layla.
Mrs. Scarlet snuck her out behind Elliotâs back.
âMy Mommyâs coming home today, Shea! Letâs go see her! She can save you!â Layla said as she
grabbed onto Sheaâs hand and pulled her away without a care.
Hayden thought that was too impulsive.
Avery might be upset, but he did not stop them.
His heart ached when he heard that Shea was dying. The last time he felt pain like that was back when
his grandmother passed away.
