Chapter 330
When His Eyes Opened
Chapter 330 In the master bedroom at the Starry River Villa, Avery had gone to sleep from jet lag since
she returned at six in the morning.
Layla rushed to the bed, held her motherâs hand in hers, then cried out in a baby-like voice,â Mommy!
Wake up! I have something to tell you! Hurry and wake up!â
Avery vaguely heard the sound of her daughterâs voice, then struggled to open her eyes
âShea said sheâs dying, Mommy! Please save her!â Layla pleaded when she saw her motherâs eyes
open.
Avery instantly jolted awake.
She sat up in bed and saw Shea standing next to Layla.
She took a breath and wanted to refuse, but the words that ended up coming out of her mouth were,
âWhy do you think youâre dying, Shea?â
Mrs. Scarlet interjected before Shea could respond, âSheâs been exhausted ever since the surgery.
Sheâs always tired even after sleeping all night. Sheâs just sluggish all dayâ¦â
âHas she gotten a checkup at the hospital?â Avery asked.
Mrs. Scarlet shook her head and said, âDoctor Sanford said that this was a normal post surgical
reaction and that she just needed more rest.â
âYou and Shea donât think this is normal, do you?â
Mrs. Scarlet hesitated, then said, âI donât have an opinion, so I just listen to the doctors. However, it
doesnât feel good seeing Shea like this.â
âTake her to the hospital, then!â Avery sighed. âIf you can bring her here, why canât you send her to the
hospital for a checkup?â
âI wouldnât dare take her to the hospital myself,â Mrs. Scarlet responded dejectedly. âIâm worried that
would upset Doctor Sanford.â
âSheâll be even more upset that you brought her to me.â
âShea wanted to come here. Please take her to the hospital for a checkup, Miss Tate! Mr. Foster wonât
be angry if it was you.â
Avery was speechless.
The truth was that Mrs. Scarlet did not want to offend Elliot and Zoe herself, so she wanted to use
Avery as a scapegoat.
âIâm begging you, Miss Tate,â Mrs. Scarlet pleaded as she bowed her head.
At that moment, Layle chimed in, âTake Shea to the hospital, Mommy! She wasnât like this before. What
if she really dies?â
âLayla, youâ¦â
âMommy! Layla isnât a bad person! Sheâs already so pitiful. Please help her!â Layla cried through
reddened eyes.
Avery surrendered and gave in.
She sent the children back to school, then drove Shea and Mrs. Scarlet to the hospital.
âDid you bring any ID, Shea?â
Shea shook her head.
âDo you remember any ID numbers?â Avery asked again.
âShea doesnât have any ID, Miss Tate,â Mrs. Scarlet answered.
Avery was at a loss for words.
How could that be?
That was unimaginable!
Every citizen in Aryadelle had some form of identification. Even the children in the orphanages had
them.
Why did shea not have any ID?
Avery did not pester further.
Mrs. Scarlet would not tell her anything even if she asked.
Moments later, Shea said in the backseat, âI think youâre the one who did my surgery, Avery.â
Avery saw the shock on Mrs. Scarletâs face in the rearview mirror.
âIt wasnât me,â Avery denied right away. âIâm just taking you to the hospital for one checkup, Shea. Go
to Elliot if anything ever happens again. Got it?â
Mrs. Scarlet picked up the dismay in Averyâs voice, then quickly said, âIâm sorry for the trouble, Miss
Tate. I wonât let her bother you again.â
âThank you for understanding,â Avery said. âI understand,â Mrs. Scarlet said with an embarrassed face.
