Chapter 573
When His Eyes Opened
âChad, did Elliot deactivate his account?â Avery looked up at Chad.
Chad was taken by surprise and said, âhe didnât tell me to do anything like that so Iâm not sure. Are you
having issues transferring money to his account?â
Avery nodded.
âIâll go ask about it when I go to work tomorrow,â Chad said awkwardly, âmaybe he doesnât want to take
your money anymore!â âThatâs funny. Does he intend on keeping Avery on his debt?â
Tammy directed her frustration towards Chad and questioned sharply, âwhat exactly is his relationship
with Chelsea? Jun said that Elliot brought Chelsea along the last time they ate together.â
Chad was starting to sweat. â⦠They are colleagues, I guess! Heâs known Chelsea for years so he
would sometimes take her out for meals.â
âWho are you trying to fool? Jun said that Chelsea was putting food on Elliotâs plate and Elliot accepted
it⦠Is that what colleagues do in your company?â
âTammy Lynch, itâs really not necessary for you to say all these things in front of Avery and heróf
children.â
âAre you embarrassed, too?â Tammy had always been hot-tempered and straight-forward.
âWhat does that have to do with me being embarrassed? Avery is the one who wanted to break up and
now that they broke up, my boss has every right to be with anyone he68 wantsâ¦â
âYouâve finally admitted that he is with Chelsea.â Tammy sneered.
âWhy exactly are you venting your anger on me? Wasnât Avery the one who told him to go 9 back to his
life?â Chad was agitated and retorted, âif Avery is jealous right now, then I can only say that itâs all her
own fault!â
Tammy was so angry that her lips began to tremble.
âChad Rayner! You are f*cking out of line! You better look around and see whose house you are in right
now!â Mike roared.
Chad stood up abruptly from his chair and said, âSorry! I will leave!â
The atmosphere in the dining room was chillingly awkward after Chad was gone.
âIâm sorry, Avery,â Tammy muttered guiltily, âitâs my faultâ¦â
âI shouldnât have brought him here for dinner,â Mike said.
Avery finished the food on her plate and set her cutleries down. âChad isnât wrong, and neither are you.
Itâs my own issue.â
With that, she stood up and walked out of the dining room.
She had been trying to strike a balance in everything, but there had never been such a way. Love to
her was two people growing together, not one dragging the other down. Even if she hadnât broken up
with Elliot, she would still try to pay back the money she owed him; besides, she did not regret her
decision.
The stress that loomed over her was too heavy when she needed to take care of her debt along with
the baby in her belly.
Once she was back in her room, she closed the door. After taking some time to regain her composure,
she called Elliot.
âElliot, did you deactivate your bank account?â.
âHow much have you gathered to pay me back this time?â He asked in an emotionless voice.
She ignored his sarcasm and retorted, âwould you rather I pay you back in cash?!â
âContact Chelsea.â He seemed to have no intention of arguing with her and continued in a calm tone,
âcontact her directly to pay your debt from now on.â
Avery pursed her lips as her mind went blank.
âAre you happy now, Avery?â He asked coldly, âChelsea is obedient, understanding, and never pisses
me off. I only need to indulge in what she gives me when Iâm with her; I donât have to guess what sheâs
thinking all the time like a foolâ¦â
Avery listened to his bragging and felt her stomach turning in response. âUgh!â Elliotâs voice stopped on
the other end of the line, and his expression immediately darkened.
