Chapter 659
When His Eyes Opened
She couldnât bring herself to imagine Elliotâs reaction after watching the video. Avery hoped that he
would trust her unconditionally, but she also knew that Elliot was a man of reason. Until she could
provide actual proof that said she was not the woman in the video, she didnât dare to anticipate his
trust.
âYeah,â Mike sighed and said, âthis sort of scandal travels fast. Iâve already gotten rid of the video and
all related discussions, but everyone knows.â
All strength was drained from Averyâs legs and she almost fell to the ground.
âAvery, if thatâs not you, then we need to find that woman in the video, otherwise she will keep imposing
as you do something else!â Mike gritted out, âdonât read the local news. Those people are too nasty and
I donât want you to get angry.â
âHow do we find her?â Avery clenched onto her phone tightly as her head started to pound.
â Who is that woman?!â
âI would say that I suspect Nora most,â Mike analyzed, âshe went through plastic surgery to look like
you to the extent that you two look identical. Itâs not difficult to figure out what she is trying to do, so I
wonât be surprised if she ends up doing something extreme.â
Avery, too, felt the same, but they had no proof unless Nora tried to imitate her in public.
âAvery, just stay in Bridgedale first. I will check Noraâs schedule for the past week,â Mike said, âbefore I
find something, donât come back.â
âWhy canât I come back? Iâm not the woman in the video. Iâm not ashamed and I donât need to hide!â
Avery had finally lost control of her emotions.
Once a woman was pregnant, the hormones within her body would become unstable, making it more
difficult for her to control her temper compared to before.
Avery wouldnât have reacted so dramatically had she not been pregnant.
âThatâs not what I mean, Avery. I am just worried that you will be affected by all the talk in Aryadelle if
you come back now,â Mike explained, âyou need a good rest right now. The baby will be coming in two
monthsâ time. We need to prioritize the baby over everything.â
âI wonât be affected by what they say. I know that itâs a trap, so why should I have to get mad over it?â
Avery slowly began to calm down.
âRiling myself up will only make the culprit happy.â
âIâm glad that you understand.â Mike relaxed and asked, âby the way, has Elliot contacted you?â
âI donât think so.â Avery didnât recall seeing any message from Elliot when she checked for Mikeâs
message.
âOh⦠I wonder what he thinks about all these. Take Layla out for food! I will call Chad and ask about
it.â
After hanging up, Avery stepped out of her room with a face as pale as a ghost. When she saw Layla,
she readjusted herself and her lips curled into a smile. âDarling, let Mommy take you to eat.â
In Aryadelle, Elliotâs bodyguards returned swiftly from Caesar Hotel with the guest lists of all hotel
guests from a week ago, where Averyâs information had been found and highlighted in red on the
document.
âMr. Foster, the hotelâs data shows that Miss. Tate reserved a VIP room in the hotel restaurant that
night, before reserving room 609 to rest,â the bodyguard said as he glanced over at Elliot nervously.
Elliot sat behind his desk with light casting on him from behind; his expression was cold and dark. The
bodyguard felt as though Elliot would throw the coffee mug across the table at any moment.
âAlso⦠Miss. Tate left the hotel at eight that night. She was in such a hurry that she didnât even go to
the reception to collect her deposit,â the bodyguard continued, âwhen the cleaners went up to the room,
they found a⦠usedâ¦condom on the bedâ¦â
The bodyguard started to stutter near the end and his voice weakened.
The coffee mug on the desk flew across the room without warning. Following a âbaam!â, it landed on the
ground and shattered into countless pieces.
Everyone in the room held their breath, not daring to make a sound. Just then, the ringing of a phone
pierced through the airâ¦
