Chapter 693
When His Eyes Opened
âItâs really good. Itâs not too sweet, so I can have more,â Avery praised as she took another bite.
âYouâre getting more amazing every day, Shea. What else do you want to learn?â
âI want to learn to drive, but Big Brother wonât let me.â Sheaâ brows furrowed as she pleaded, âCould
you help me beg Big Brother, Avery?â
Avery lifted her gaze and turned to Wesley.
âIs this why you two came over today?â
Wesley shook his head and said, âShea came to give you the cake. I donât agree with her learning to
drive either.â
Avery turned to Shea and asked, âWhy do you want to learn to drive, Shea? Arenât you scared it might
be dangerous?â
âAll of you know how to drive, so I want to learn, too. It wonât be dangerous as long as I donât drive
anywhere with too many people around.â Shea gazed at Avery with a pitiful expression and pleaded
with her eyes.
At that moment, Averyâs phone rang.
She picked it up and saw that it was Elliot calling.
She showed her phone screen to Shea, then said, âIâll talk to him about it, but thereâs nothing I can do if
hege disagrees.â
Shea nodded with a big smile on her face.
Avery answered the phone and put it on speaker.
Elliotâs voice instantly filled the room, âHave you had lunch, Avery?â
âNot yet⦠Tammy said she was coming to see me. Iâm waiting for her.â She cleared her throat, then
said, âShea wants to learn to drive. Why not let her try it out? You just have to tell her not to drive by
herself.â
âIs she at your place?â Elliotâs voice turned stern.
âShe is. She made me a cake.â Avery ate another bite of the cake, then said, âIt tastes amazing. You
should try it when you get back.â
âIâll be coming back tomorrow. Letâs talk about it when Iâm back.â It was clear from his tone that he did
not want to let Shea learn to drive.
âSure,â Avery said, then was about to hang up the phone.
âIt should be half past one there right now. Go and have lunch first,â Elliot said.
âGot it.â She ended the call and put her phone down.
âItâs no use even if I beg him, Shea.â
She felt a little disappointed, but she was not angry.
âWesley wouldnât let me learn to drive, either. Youâre the nicest to me, Avery.â
âThey wonât let you learn because theyâre concerned for your safety. I havenât had lunch yet. Letâs eat
together!â Once Avery said that, the nanny immediately placed lunch on the table.
Time flew by, and it was two in the afternoon.
Wesley and Shea said their goodbyes.
âShea has class in the afternoon. Weâll come see you again another time. You need to get more rest
now. Go to the hospital right away if you donât feel well.â
âI will. Drive safe.â
Once they left, Avery felt a sudden wave of fatigue as her eyelids grew heavy.
As she walked back toward the front door, she suddenly remembered that Tammy still had not arrived
since telling her she was coming over!
Her back broke into a cold sweat. She hurried into the living room, picked up her phone and called
Tammy
âSorry. The number you have dialed is switched off. Please try again later.â
Why did Tammy have her phone turned off for so long?Could something have happened?
Avery called Jun without further hesitation.
âI canât contact Tammy, Jun. She said she was coming over at eleven in the morning, but she still isnât
here yet. Her phoneâs turned off,â Avery said, explaining the situation to Jun.
âShe never turns her phone off!â Jun exclaimed in shock.
âCould she have lost her phone or something?â
âI think somethingâs weird, too. Even if she did lose her phone, she should be here by now,â Avery said.
âDid you agree to meet at eleven this morning?â
âThatâs right. I texted you earlier because I couldnât reach her on the phone. Wesley and Shea dropped
by to see me just now and I forgot about it for a moment. When I tried calling her again, I still couldnât
get through.â
Junâs brows furrowed tightly as an ominous feeling rose inside of him.
âIâll call the house and ask.â
