Chapter 732
When His Eyes Opened
Avery pulled out her phone, found Sheaâs number, and dialed it.
The call went through, but nobody answered.
After the call was ended automatically, she called Wesley.
Wesley very quickly answered the phone and said, âHow are you doing, Avery? Howâs Robertâs
condition?â
âIâm doing well. Robertâs also doing well right now⦠The doctor said that Shea came to the hospital this
morning and that she looked very pale. I tried calling her but there was no answer. Iâm a little worried
about her.â
Alarm bells began to ring in Wesleyâs mind.
âIâll go see her right now.â
âOkay. Let me know once youâve seen her. She usually looks just fine, why would she suddenly look
pale? If her complexion looks really bad, take her to the hospital for a check-up.â
âGot it.â
Wesley hung up the phone, then immediately called Sheaâs bodyguard.
When the bodyguard picked up the phone, Wesley asked anxiously, âWhereâs Shea right now? Is she
okay?â
âShe fell asleep in the car. Weâre almost home,â responded the bodyguard.
âSheaâs complexion doesnât look great today, Mr. Brook. I wonder if itâs because she woke up too early
this morning.â
The bodyguard did not know that Shea had donated blood the night beforeThe blood was drawn in
Wesleyâs fatherâs office.
âTake her home to rest. Iâm on my way over.â
âUnderstood.â
At the hospital, Avery was surprised when Henryâs family showed up.
âAvery, my parents wanted to come to see you a few days ago after hearing that youâd given birth, but
my uncle said that you were in a bad mood so we didnât end up coming,â Cole said.â Howâs the baby
doing?â
âHeâs fine for now,â Avery responded.
âThatâs good. Why isnât my uncle here?â Cole asked curiously as he glanced around.
âHeâs gone to find blood sources.â Avery turned to Henry and Olivia, then said, âThe babyâs in the
intensive care unit right now and canât take visitors. Thereâs nowhere here to entertain you either.â
âThatâs fine. We just dropped by to take a look and will leave soon.â Olivia pulled out a packet of cash
said, âThis is a small gift for Robert. We hope he recovers and leaves the hospital soon.â
Avery could not decline the gift, so she accepted it and said, âThank you.â
âYou look a lot more haggard than before, Avery.â With a kind face, Olivia consoled her and said,
âRobert will be fine as long as Elliotâs around to take care of him. You shouldnât worry too much and
focus on your recovery.â
âAvery is an amazing doctor. She might be able to help in Robertâs treatment. How could she recover in
peace?â
âAh, I almost forgot about that. Since Elliot isnât here, then letâs have Cole stay here with you, â said
Olivia.
Avery immediately declined and said, âItâs fine. There are doctors and the bodyguard hereâ¦â
âLet me stick around for a while, Avery! Iâll leave once my uncle gets back,â Cole said, cutting her off.
âRobert is my cousin, after all.â
The word âcousinâ made Avery fall silent.
Once Henry and Olivia left, Cole was much more relaxed.
âMy parents want to have a good relationship with you and my uncle, Avery. Thatâs what I want, too.
Since my grandmother passed away, my uncleâs never gone back to the old mansion. The entire place
is cold and quiet. It shouldnât be that way. Iâll treat you as my aunt from now on and do whatever you tell
me to doâ¦â
Avery raised her brows at him and said, âIs your company in trouble? Do you need your uncleâs help
again?â
âHow could you say something like thatâ¦â
âDidnât you say Iâm your aunt? Is that how you speak to your aunt?â Avery snapped.
âListen up, Cole Foster. If you want to kiss up to your uncle, go ahead and do it directly. Youâll get
nothing doing it through me,â Avery said, then shoved the packet of cash back to Cole and said, âTake
this since youâre short on money!â Coleâs temples pulsed with anger, but he could only endure it.
