Chapter 18
The President's Gift is a New Wife
Hannah suddenly blushed. Jay realized he had misspoken, so he changed the topic quickly. âLetâs go.
You promised to treat me. Itâs too late to regret it now.â Jay was always a considerate man. The only thing was, he needed to endure everything alone. Hannah followed behind him and asked, âWhy did you visit our school today?â âTo complete a procedure.â âWhat procedure?â âThe employment procedure.â âWhat? Are you going to work here?â âYes. Iâm just surprised that you wonât be working here anymore.â Jay always had no interest in his family business. He didnât plan to take up any positions in his familyâs company even though he was already back in the country. He liked working in the school because of the environment. Since Hannah was working here as well, he quickly applied when he saw the vacancy. However, Hannah had already been dismissed. âDo you still feel like coming back to the school to work?â Hannah answered passionately, âOf course!â Then, she lowered her head and said, âCalvin wonât agree to it though.â She knew the only way possible was to serve him well. It was her first experience in the basement that night, but it was a humiliating and miserable one. It felt like a nightmare to her. She could never do it again. âJust leave it to me.â Jay said gently, âI will do my best to help you do the things you want to do.â He added, âItâs worth it since you gave me a lot of happy memories when I was young.â âStill, Calvin isâ¦â Jay saw through her worries. He gave her a comforting and reassuring smile, âIâm not that weak. Hannah, donât be afraid of him.â You are a brave, pure and free girl. Your brilliance should not be shrouded by a baseless murder accusation. Those were the words Jay couldnât say. They went to an old revolving restaurant serving French cuisine. Jay used to dine here with his friends before he went to study abroad. It was a place where you could see the whole Greenville at night. Meanwhile, at the mansion. Calvin didnât see Hannah after he went back.
Mrs. Wright said, âMaâam hasnât returned yet.â âShe hasnât returned even though she went out in the afternoon?â âI called her. She said she wonât be coming back because she is having dinner with a friend.â âWhich friend?â âA certain Mr. Miller.â Mrs. Wright answered, âShe sounded quite happy.â âWhen did she tell you that?â âJust now.â When Mrs. Wright turned around, Calvin was no longer there. She ran out after picking up the coat on the sofa, âSir, where are you going? Your coat!â However, Calvin already drove out. He called Ciel, âTrack down Hannah immediately.â Ciel executed his orders immediately. Calvin received Hannahâs location within a minute. He called Cindy and asked her, âAre you free?â Cindy suppressed her excitement and replied, âWhy?â âHave a meal with me. Iâll pick you up in ten minutes.â Cindy agreed without hesitation. Before she left the house, she called her agent. She didnât need to know the reason why Calvin asked her out. The result was what matters. She wanted to maximize her benefits at the end of the day. Besides Calvinâs heart, she also wanted money and fame.
Meanwhile, at the restaurant. Hannah was having the meal of her lifetime. The food and wine were amazing. She was also laughing at the interesting stories Jay told her. The chef shouted all of a sudden, âMr. Fullerton!â The proud chef would only address one person as Mr. Fullerton in Greenville, Calvin. Hannah turned around to look when she heard the chefâs voice. She saw Cindy standing beside him. They sat at the table beside her. Calvin looked at Jay and said, âItâs been a long time.â The rich families of Greenville always met each other during social events. Calvin and Jay used to meet each other when they were children. Jay replied with a smile, âItâs been a long time.â Calvin pulled the chair for Cindy and gave her a menu, âJust order anything you want.â Cindy looked at Hannah with disdain as she said to the waiter, âJust give me your signature dish.â She was not worried about other people discovering her identity. A few people even approached her to ask her for her autograph which she happily complied. Hannah thought Calvin and Cindy looked good together and hinted at Jay. Both of them smiled. Calvin was unhappy when he saw their interactions. He asked Hannah with a frown, âWhy didnât you go home to eat dinner tonight?â Since Calvin was sitting straight and facing Cindy, Hannah didnât realize that the question was for her, so she asked Jay, âAre you done? If youâre done, letâs go.â
Hannah could no longer eat when she saw his husband eating with another woman. What made her angrier was the fact that both of them looked good together. Jay nodded, âLetâs go.â Calvin asked Hannah, âDidnât you hear me asking you a question? âWhat?â Hannah stared at him in disbelief, âWerenât you talking to Cindy?â âMrs. Fullerton, you are really shameless.â All four of them were shocked. Even Calvin was surprised at how he addressed Cindy naturally as Mrs. Fullerton. Hannah replied, âMr. Fullerton, did I cause trouble for you in any way?â Calvin asked again, âWhy didnât you eat at home today?â âWhy arenât you eating at home today then?â Itâs all because of you! Calvin almost said that, but he kept his cool as he said, âCanât you see for yourself?â
