Chapter 2

Rough Drafts of Nothing. Poetry is not my thing.

Rough Drafts: A Collection Of Badly Written Short Stories and Poems

A Swan with fluorescent feathers has the attention of everyone in the room,

Without trying to.

For her graceful moves and obvious beauty

Is enough for anyone to at least attempt flirtation.

But her time is precious and she does not want to listen

To the birds that follow in flock.

Yet the attention is of course welcome.

The Owl in the corner, although she does not know it,

Is the Swan's biggest competition in the room.

For the Owl's beauty is more modest, yet overwhelmingly enticing.

The biggest difference was that the Owl sits and observes everyone else,

While the Swan sits and lets everyone else observe her.

The Owl's massive eyes are more captivating than her own feathers,

Because they are eyes you could stare into forever.

They hold endless curiosity and power,

While the Swan's sleek wings held appeal and lust.

They don't get in each others way,

But the Swan was jealous that Owl had captured everyone's minds

While the Owl was jealous that the Swan had captured everyone's hearts.

Without knowing it,

The Owl and the Swan did have one thing in common.

No one was good enough for their kind of love.

The kind of relationship that craved depth.

Long conversations,

and comfortable silence when conversation was exhausted.

Never bored,

Yet making the most out of boring situations.

Adoration and passion,

In all the right ways and places.

So although they may be equals,

They will never see themselves as such.
