Chapter 42

I took some painkillers and Tasha brought me a comfortable pair of sweatpants and socks that I put on before we made our way to the common room.

"So how about these cheeseburgers I asked apparently two months ago"

Everyone laughed, and dad jumped up from the couch to give me another hug "You're asking the right questions kiddo" I smile, happy that everything can go back to normal now. Dr. Cho informed them that I was fine and for now everyone was more in a welcome-back-party-mood than the worried state most of them were ten hours ago. "So cheeseburger and fries, who's in?"

I asked and cheered as everyone agreed. My dad went to another room to order them and I joined Wanda in the kitchen to drink something. As if she could read my mind she passed me a glass with water, then continued to form cookie dough balls and put them on the baking sheet. "I actually can read your mind, silly" She turned around grinning and hugged me "God I'm so happy you're back, the tower was awfully quiet and boring without you" I laughed "I'm happy to be back too. Especially to taste these cookies" I grinned and grabbed one of the dough balls to eat it unbaked which caused Wanda to scoff "Y/N Stark don't even start to think that I'll let you get away with this just because I'm happy to see you" I giggled "You love me Wands" she sighed, still grinning but shaking her head "Yes. Yes I do" "And I love you too"

I emptied the glass and went over to Clint and Pietro "Hey lovebirds" I teased them and Clint responded "Aren't you the one who's in love with my best friend?" I just shrugged and grabbed one of the switch controllers "So who's ready to lose in Mario Kart again?" "You wish!" Pietro and Clint answered in unison

The cheeseburgers were great and we all talked for a bit and played cards before I and a few others head to bed. Nat and I stood before my room for a few moments before I hugged her "Night Tasha. I love you" "Goodnight Y/N" She gave me a quick kiss and then left to go to her room.

The next three weeks went by swiftly. I recovered from my mission and barley needed to take painkillers by now. The morning runs with Natasha turned into a shorter morning run for Natasha and a simple walk with me. I didn't go out too much because everyone tells me to 'rest and recover first' and that led to me baking and cooking much more than I usually do.

Most of the time I cook for dinner if Wanda didn't cook something for lunch and about once a week Wanda and I bake some cookies or cupcakes. Also I'm currently playing Hogwarts Legacy but not too often. Next week my recovery comes officially to an emd which means that I'm allowed to train again, at the shooting range.

But for now I'm sitting in the common room, chatting with Pietro and patiently waiting for Clint join us. We wanted to play some Mario Kart and then buy some snacks for a Super Mario marathon.

Said man sat down and sighed, massaging his head but not saying anything. But he noticed the questioning looks Pietro and I shared so he shortly explained "Natasha" Well that wasn't a good explanation but seems we don't get any more as he reached out for his controller and started the game.

"Ha! Three round win streak!" I cheered and Pietro began to argue "BUT you only got third on Marios Curcuit" "Yeah but it's my worst track and I won in the end dickhead" He gasped playful and just wanted to respond as my phone vibrated "Cut! Got a message"

That's not a question

I talked to Clint your marathon is gonna be on another day

Me:

Wait what-

You remember that date I proposed to you three weeks ago?

Yeah, that's where you are tonight

Me:

uh alright

what kind of date

what do i need to wear

nat?

natasha????

"Gotta go, see you" with that I went to look for Wanda.

"Wands, I need your help can you bake later?" I approached her and of course she agreed

"So Natasha asked me on a date. But like three weeks ago. And an hour ago Clint joined us on Mario Kart but he was in a kinda bad mood and as Pietro asked he just responden with 'Natasha'"

Wanda nod but couldn't hide her confusion about what I told her "So...you know what, here read it yourself" I handed her my phone, already on the chat with Nat.

"Hm I see...so how abouuut...hm...do you still got that skirt you wore the day we went to the cat cafe and you adopted Hades?" I nod "Wear that. I think you should pair it with your half-see-through black top and I can borrow you a leather jacket. Plus silver jewelry" I mean she's right, it feels basic but fancy and it's kinda comfortable... "Thanks Wands, gonna get that jacket later"

I just stepped out of the shower when my phone vibrated again

Ready in an hour?

I nod - forgetting to actually respond - and quickly blow-dried my hair before I put on some light make up. Now I need just to dress - I decided to add black tights - and get the jacket from Wanda. I've got 20 minutes left.

I arrived at the parking lot just in time and Natasha just drove up to me with a black Chevrolet Camaro.

"Nice car" I commented as she got out to greet me. She wore black loose fit pants and paired them with a dark green button up shirt. "actually, nice looking as well" I added and looked at the ground until a single finger lift up my chin"Don't be embarrassed of yourself доропая (darling). You look gorgeous, even though I wasn't sure if you'd be ready. It's possible to answer text messages"

I felt my cheeks heat up even more but just got in the car, whichs door the redhead opened for me.

After a quite short drive we got out and she lead me into a small, cozy italian restaurant.

We got the menu and I decided on white wine and pasta aligo olio.

A waiter came by "What can I get you two beautiful ladies to eat?" He had an italian accent that kinda matched the vibe of this place.

"I'll go with some white vine and alio olio pasta" I ordered and Nat continued "For me penne arrabiata and red vine please" "Of course"

Dinner went by uneventful. Not boring or uncomfortable, no we talked and laughed a lot, but still uneventful. The food was great and we talked about many things but Nat didn't seem to be really there. Her mind seemed to drift somewhere else constantly so I asked her as we got back to the car "What's up? You seem...off" That made the redhead sigh "Let me take you another place and explain there, ok?" I agreed and so we were driving to said place. It was a lake and the timing was perfect as the sun just began to set. God I love this woman.

We sat down and I leaned on to her, enjoying the peace. I just stared at her, trying to remember ecvery little detail about her "You know, staring is rude" I laughed and shook me head "Well how should I be able to resist" I kissed her cheek and laid my head back on her shoulder. "So about earlier...I'm sorry. I just thought about what I was gonna say right now a lot. I love you Y/N. I love you in a way I can't even begin to comprehend but I know that I want, that I need, to spent the rest of my life with you. I wanted to ask you this for quite some time now, if you don't believe me you can ask Clint, he's so done with me for not asking you. I wanted to ask months before your mission, then promised myself to do it when you're back. I had a plan with a nice date and a whole bunch of stuff but that didn't happen as well. While we didn't know whether you'd make it or not I realized how much and how deeply I feel about you. So I threw away that fancy plan, booked a table at my favorite restaurant and cute little lake to take you here. And now I'm sitting here. Asking you finally: Y/N Stark, will you be my girlfriend?" She pulled out a black rose rolling it between her fingers while she waited for my answer "Of course Natasha. It would be an honor. Infact there's nothing more I'd possibly want than having you as my girlfriend. I love you so much, your smile literally lights up the whole room and I would wait a thousand years to hear you laugh and joke just one more time so yes Natasha Romanoff. I'd be very happy to be your girlfriend. I love you" I took the rose and kissed her. This is great.

We got back to the tower around 9 pm and as we entered the common room at least four people stared at us asking something without asking. "Staring is rude, you know" I referred to what Nat said earlier but that's something only she knows. "Well then just tell us" Clint said smirking. He totally knew already. Of course he knows.

"Yes, she's officially my girlfriend and now shut it Barton" Tasha said trying to be harsh but couldn't help herself as she smiled like an idiot. We both did.

Suddenly everyone in the room cheered. "Finally!" That was Pietro and Wanda in unison. My dad walked over and hugged both of us "I'm so happy for both you" but added "Romanoff, break her heart and I'll break bones of yours you never realized existed" I giggled and so did the redhead before reassuring dad that she wouldn't. "Listen up everyone, movie night in 20', we won't wait for anyone" Clint announced and Natasha amd I rushed upstairs to get changed.

Back down I sat next to my girlfriend and cuddled into her, ready for the movie "I love you Tasha. Thanks for everything"

She put an arm around me and gave me a quick kiss "I love you too sweetheart. I love you so much"

This was the first fanfiction I ever wrote and I never thought so many people would read it but here we are.

So thank you guys. Thanks for reading my story, thank you for every comment and every read.

Writing this story has been fun and I learned so much about writing - about my writing style. It has been fun and I loved every minute but every story has an end. This end is now reached.

But don't worry, in case anybody cares: I already got a few ideas for other stories. I began a oneshot but realized that I had too many ideas so it will get a shorter story I guess.

Funfact: This story here started out as 'hey I got this one shot idea' and here I am. 40 chapters later :)
