Chapter 4

1| NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA

WAR OF HEARTS • hayley marshall

"This better be good." Khalia says as she answers her phone, laying on her couch lazily.

"Our brother impregnated a werewolf girl."  At his words, the female shot up from her couch.

"I'm sorry, it sounded like you just told me that our vampire brother impregnated a woman." She said emphasizing on vampire.

"I'm well aware of that, Khalia, but he is also part werewolf." Elijah tells his little sister knowingly.

"Wonderful." She deadpans sarcastically as she realises he's right.

"There is a problem though. Two, if we're being specific." The male tells her and she groans audibly.

"What is it?" Khalia asks, not really wanting the answer.

"The girl, she's being held captive by witches." He starts but hesitates.

"And?" The female asks impatiently, she doesn't like waiting. It's a Mikaelson thing.

"Niklaus wants nothing to do with her." He tells her, knowing what her reaction will be.

"And I care because?" She asks uninterested. Elijah gritt his teeth in annoyance, he knew this would be her response. Ever since Kol died, she doesn't care about anything. Sure if her family's in trouble, she'll help. She is a Mikaelson but beyond that, she just goes out and gets high on blood.

"Because that baby is family and-" The dark haired man starts but gets cut of by the female.

"And we swore a vow to protect each other and stick together, Always and Forever. Yeah, I know, Elijah I was there." She tells him. "But what's the use of Always and Forever, if we can die?" The dark haired girl retorts in a bitter tone, refering to her twin brother, Kol.

"Khalia, please." Elijah pleads to her, hoping for her to see reason and maybe, just maybe she can learn to live again in the city she once called home.

With a deep sigh, Khalia asks, "Where are you?"

If someone told Khalia Mikaelson that she would be entering New Orleans once again, she would have laughed in your face and asked you where the hidden cameras are. Yet here she is, pulling up infront of the plantation she once lived in and called home. The enourmous white house, sorry not a house, a mansion. Like all of the other Mikaelson properties.

"Elijah! Klaus!" The Orginal called out as she entered the house, walking into the nearest room.

"Elijah's gone and I don't know where Klaus is." A female voice that the Original didn't know, called out from behind her. Khalia, taking the person as a threat she spins around and grab the woman by her throat and sped her against the nearest wall, ready to rip out her heart.

What happened next suprised both woman, as they locked eyes, brown clashing with brown, something unlocked in both of them. Khalia's hands fell to her side as did Hayley's. She was just about to attack the girl but then their eyes met. Neither could deny that they have never seen a woman as beautiful as the other.

Khalia has had several bedpartners over the course of the last thousand years but not one of them comes close to the woman in front of her and she hasn't even properly looked her over.

And as for Hayley, she had always known that she was into both girls and boys, so she had alot of options but never has she seen someone so appealing as the woman infront of her. But seeing as she did just try to kill her, Hayley's guard was up.

"Who are you?" The Original's voice was supposed to come out hard and cold but instead it came out warm and soft.

"Hayley Marshall." The pregnant wolf girl answered and Khalia took a step back from her and her eyebrows raised and she properly looked her over, liking what she saw very much.

"Hayley," Khalia repeated, making Hayley shiver at the way her name rolled of the vampire's tongue but then Khalia realised something. "So you're the girl that was dumb enough to get knocked up by my hybrid brother?" Khalia questioned, her tone amused yet she felt jealous for some reason. Her eyes widened a little, knowing that there was only one reason she would feel jealous and she really didn't want that. Not now, and maybe not ever again.

Hayley's eyes widened considerably as she said, "You're Khalia?"

She gave a nod before answering. "Khalia Mikaelson." Said woman answered. "How do you know?"  She asked, confusion lacing her tone slightly.

"Elijah, he told me your family history." Hayley told her, leaving out that Elijah said that she is in a deep stage of depression over her twin's death, and the Original nodded with pursed lips.

"Elijah didn't tell me that but it does sound like him." The vampire comments. "Well, you've met Klaus, Elijah and now me. I don't know what he told you, but we are not a nice bunch. And out of all of us, I care the least so don't expect anything from me." Khalia tells her honestly, after Kol she doesn't know how to care about anyone but her family anymore and she doesn't want to. But when she sees the hurt on Hayley's face, her heart stings and not wanting to feel, she pushes it down.

"Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to get a snack." Khalia told the werewolf. The vampire walked to the kitchen and grabbed a blood bag out of the kitchen, her mind on the werewolf girl she just met. It was quiet around the house and she was in the middle of her sixth blood bag when she heard a bunch of commotion and she sped towards it not knowing who it was and for some reason, she doesn't want something to happen to Hayley and not just because she is carrying a future member of her family. And she really doesn't want to find out why.

"Get out here and tell me what you've done with our brother, you narcissistic, back-stabbing wanker!" At the fimiliar voice, the dark haired Originals sighed in relief.

"Hey Bex." At the sound of Khalia's voice, Rebekah turned to her wide eyed and gaping. She hasn't seen the girl since she left Mystic Falls after Kol's death. The blonde sped to her sister and barreled into her, crushing her with a hug.

"I've missed you Khalia." Rebekah told her sister.

"Likewise, Bex." She squeezed her tightly one more time before she let go.

Klaus opens a pair of doors and enters the room. "Enough with all the shouting." His eyes widen, like Rebekah's when he sees Khalia.

"Khalia." He greets politely, knowing that when she finds out what he did to Elijah, she's going to be pissed but he needs to win a war, not his sister's favor.

"Klaus." She greets back with a nod of her head.

The hybrid turns back to the blonde. "Little sister, I should have known. I assume the six dead vampires were your doing?"

"They were very rude." She tells him calmly and the brunette Original snorts, saying.

"I'm sure they were." She just got an annoyed look from the blonde.

"Trying to victimize a poor, innocent girl just trying to find her way to the Quarter. So sorry, were they friends of yours? Oh, that's right, you don't have any friends." Rebekah continues in a snarky tone.

"Oooooh, burn." Khalia comments with a smirk, looking between the two like one would a tennis match.

"I do have friends. I have Marcel. You remember him, don't you? Yes, of course you do. He fancies himself the 'King of the Quarter' now, and he has these rules about killing vampires. It'll be fun to see what sort of punishment he comes up with for you." Klaus tells her and Khalia snickers. Elijah told her that her sister's supposed dead lover, was still alive and although she didn't really care, she knew that Rebekah does. No matter what she says.

"I don't care about Marcel or his rules." The blonde starts.

"Liar." The brunette Original commented with a smirk and got a glare from the blonde.

"Elijah doesn't welch on deals. What did you do to him?" Rebekah said and a dark look passes on Khalia's face, all thoughts of continuing with her comments flying out her mind as the blonde mentions their eldest living brother.

"Yes, where is he? He called me and asked me to come here and help him. He wouldn't just leave." Her tone stern and taking a dangerous tone.

"Perhaps he's on holiday... or taking a long autumn nap upstairs." Khalia snapped, not liking his vagueness. She sped forward and grabbed the hybrid by his throat and sped him against the nearest wall.

"WHERE IS HE?!?!" She shouts in outrage, tightening her grip on his neck. The volume of her voice catching the pregant werewolf's attention and Hayley made her way to the room the three siblings were in, just in time to see the Hybrid throwing his sister accross the room and she gasped.

Khalia got up and sped towards Klaus and before he could figure out what's going on, she punched him in the face. Based on the crushing sound, she broke something but she didn't care. The female was to angry with him. She glared at him, clenching her fists as she did so.

He staggered backwards and glared back at the brunette Original, saying, "Careful, little sister, wouldn't want to end up back in your box again would you?" Hayley's eyes widened at his words but to her surprise, Khalia just laughed coldly.

"Go ahead, Klaus but you and I both know you won't do it." She tells him and he raised his eyebrows at her, gesturing for her to elaborate. "My best friend is dead, and I don't have a reason to live anymore. So put me in a box if you'd like, but it wouldn't be a punishment, it would be a relief." She sneered at him, a glare on her face and the Hybrid, the Original and the werewolf all felt their hearts break a little at her words.

Clearing his throat, Niklaus said, "Well, go on Rebekah. Take a look around. You remember this house as well as I." His words was an attempt to change the subject and Khalia wouldn't admit it but she was greatful.

"I remember everything. I remember how the drunken fool of a governor hid away all of our vampire sins in exchange for gold. I remember the lavish parties the governor threw, as if to impress you.I remember finding a moment of affection with the governor's son, Emil. And I remember that even Elijah was happy." She tells him, her heart still sore from her sister's words. They all may have lost Kol but Khalia took it the worst.

"Well, he wasn't good enough for you." He counters and Khalia rolled her eyes and Hayley eyed the beautiful, yet unpredictable girl.

"No one was ever good enough for me, Nik, you made sure of that." Rebekah told her, her tone somewhat bitter. Klaus' phone starts buzzing. He checks it, stands and moves to leave.

"Where are you going?" The blonde asks the Hybrid. And Khalia - not really caring where he is going - glances at Hayley, who is still looking at Kol's twin, and she gives the werewolf a wink. Blood rushes to Hayley's cheeks and she adverts her gaze to the ground and a small smile plays on Khalia's lips but it vanishes as she realises what she is doing.

She was adamant, she would not develop feelings for anyone ever again. She would never get hurt emotionally again.

"It appears the night is not quite over, yet. I'm off for another drink with Marcel." The dirty blonde informs them and Khalia snorts.

"I wonder what Marcel will do if he finds out your true motives for staying in town." She asks with a smirk and she just got a shrug in return.

"Elijah told me about your plan to take apart Marcel's empire piece by piece. I don't remember it involving you two drinking New Orleans dry together." Rebekah comments, deciding to ignore her sister's remarks.

"I know you don't have many friends, Rebekah, but what some friends do when they get together is they drink. And when they drink, they tell secrets. Marcel has somehow found a way to control the entirety of witches in the Quarter, and I aim to uncover the 'how' so I might take it for myself. Finding Elijah didn't make my to-do list today." Klaus tells his two siblings. Grabbing the nearest thing she could find, which is a vase, she threw it at his head. It hit him and he gave her a glare and she smirked as Hayley hid a laugh with a cough, or tried to at least.

He turned to leave again but paused and turned back around, "Oh, and welcome home, little sisters." The door shuts behind him and Rebekah turns on the spot, contemplating what he's said as Khalia yawned.

"You, wolf girl. I'm going to search this house inch by inch until I find what my evil brother has done to my good one. You're helping." At her words, the brunette Originals lets out a low chuckle.

"Well, you two have fun but I'm going to sleep." Khalia declares and Rebekah gives her an disapproving look as does Hayley. Khalia didn't like that look from Hayley. Not at all but she wasn't about to waste perfectly good sleeping hours, looking for a brother she knows she won't find. The girl didn't see the point.

"Oh, don't give me that look Rebekah, you too, sweetheart, you know as well as I that if he's in his box, which he most likely is, Klaus won't hide him here and we'd be waisting our time." She said simply before speeding of to her room, leaving behind a dissapointed blonde Original and pregnant werewolf.

But in that moment something started, something extraordinary and magical, something unknown to everyone.

One of the greatest love stories to be ever known, just started between Khalia Mikaelson and Hayley Marshall.
