Chapter 6

3 | GLARING AND SMILES

WAR OF HEARTS • hayley marshall

"Dear God, sweetheart, would you stop pacing infront of my door and come in." Khalia said in slight annoyance, from where she is laying down on her bed and, no, she wasn't sleeping or trying to. Her eyes widened slightly at the nickname that has slipped out of her mouth again. For the past fifteen minutes the werewolf has been walking up and door in front of the Original's door, trying to get enough courage to knock on the door and Khalia has had enough.

Hayley opened the door, her heart beating wildly as she entered the room. Khalia propped herself up on her elbows and looked at the pregnant girl with raised eyebrows, wondering what she wanted to tell her and why her heart was beating so crazy.

"Calm down, before you give yourself a stroke and something happens to the baby. Rebekah and I will never hear the bloody end of it." The immortal girl told the over- nervous werewolf in a half- amused, half- serious tone.

"I have something for you." Hayley eventually squeaked out, holding out the dagger. Khalia got of her bed and made her way to the werewolf, her eyes widening when she saw what was in Hayley's hand.

"Where did you get this, Hayley?" The Original demanded in a gentle but stern tone. She didn't know what it was or why but calling the werewolf by her name didn't feel right.

"It was downstairs, under Rebekah's coffin." The werewolf answered her softly, the nervousness slowly fading away. She held the dagger out to Khalia once again and this time she took it.

"Thank you, sweetheart." Khalia said in a soft and gentle tone.

Soft and gentle - something Khalia Mikaelson wasn't. Something she was around Hayley Marshall. Something she wasn't sure she liked or not. And whether she liked it or not, she was going to find out.

"Let me get this straight," Khalia begins. "We are going to threaten you ex- lover who is currently on a date with his current love interest?" She asked her sister once again as they walked down the street, amusement evident in her tone.

"Yes." Rebekah answers seriously, really not seeing how hard it is to grasp the concept.

"Because that doesn't scream jealous." Khalia comments and the blonde scowls at her older sister.

"I am not jealous." She snaps defensively, her tone high pitched making Khalia believe her even less. "Marcel lied to me about knowing of Elijah's were abouts." She tells her sister for the umpteenth time.

"Okay then." The dark haired female says with a smirk on her lips. Not for a second believing that is the only reason as they reach the bar. Khalia kicks the doors and they swing wide open and the two Mikaelson female's bursts inside.

"You lied to me. Where's my brother?" Rebekah demands and Khalia spots the woman Marcel was having dinner with, a blonde.

"Well I'll be damned. Khalia Mikaelson." Marcel says in slight fear. He thought that she wasn't in town, seeing a she wasn't spotted in town. Too be fair to his, she has slept most of the time she has been here.

"In the flesh." Said girl bit back and Marcel turned to Rebekah, rather dealing with the blonde than the brunette. He remembered her as clear as daylight, she was not a pleasant person and the only reason he is alive is because Klaus stopped her and Kol from killing him.

"Hello to you, too. Cami, Rebekah and Khalia" He points to each of the two girls as he did so. "- Rebekah, Khalia, meet Cami."

"I see you still have a thing for blondes." Rebekah says at the same time Khalia says, "Another blonde. Old habits, huh?" A smirk was plastered over the brunette's face as she spoke.

"Hey-" The human said in offence.

"Blondie, I highly suggest you shut up. Before I make you." Khalia threatens, showing her vampire eyes while Rebekah grabs Marcel by the neck and vampire speeds him across the room, slamming him against the wall.

"Tell me where Elijah is." Rebekah demands once again.

"What the hell is going on?" Cami speaks up once again and Khalia sighs, gritting her teeth as she remember that Klaus needed her for his plan.

"Tell me where he is or I will kill you!" Rebekah threatens and the brunette almost laughed. As if.

Marcel merely looks at Rebekah; there is a brief flash of the time they had passionately kissed, as though Marcel has sent the memory to her deliberately. "No, you won't." Marcel tells her and Khalia glances at th two in confusion as Rebekah slowly backs off, releasing him - not knowing about the memory that the male send her.

"Perhaps you're right." She admits, after a moment's silence, Khalia vampire speeds over to Marcel and pushes her hand into his chest and grips his heart in her hand.

"I will." She comments, more than happy to do so. Rebekah vamp-speeds over to Cami and pins her by the throat against the wall.

"And I will kill her." Rebekah tells him seriously.

"Let her go. You won. I'll take you to see Elijah." Marcel agrees and pain flashes through Rebekah but she hides it. But Khalia knows, without looking at the blonde, she knows that Marcel's words cause her younger sister pain. And so before taking her hand out of the male's chest she gives his heart a painful squeeze, causing a wave of pain to go through him.

"That's for Bex." She whispers softly, soft enough that only Khalia and Marcel heard the words and her tone was anything but pleasant. Khalia quickly goes into kitchen and to sink and washes the blood of her hand. Meanwhile, Rebekah releases Cami, who gasps for air.

"What the hell are you people?" The human asks, clearly terrified as Khalia joins the trio.

"Wow, you really are a natural blonde, huh?" The dark haired female comments and Cami looks at her. "We're vampires."

Marcel glares at Khalia, who just smirks, and gently takes Cami by the shoulders. "Shh, it's okay." He tells her before starting to compel her. "Go home, forget all this, and just know that I will make it up to you. I promise." He says and Khalia snorts, commenting,

"How real can a relationship be if you have to compel her?"

"Well, at least I don't go through life as an ice cold bitch." He retorts bitterly and the next moment, Marcel finds him slammed against the nearest wall once again, a hand wrapped around his throat.

"I tolerate you for Niklaus, but push me and I will kill you" She tells him seriously.

"Then you won't find Elijah." He retorts making Khalia snarl at him.

"Yes, I will. It may take a while, but I will find him." She tells him, determination in her tone and she lets him go.

"You wanna see Elijah? Fine. Follow me." As he speaks his words, Khalia's phone buzzes.

Klaus: Come home now.

"Bex, you alright to go alone? Klaus wants me home." Rebekah gave her sister a nod and the brunette sped of.

"Klaus!" She shouted as she entered the plantation.

"Little sister." He said from behind her. The brunette turned to the dirty blonde with raised eyebrows.

"What do you want?" Khalia asked him.

"I'm going out and I need you to watch over Hayley." He told her and the female looked at him in disbelief.

"Why?" She complained in a whine.

"Because you seem hell bent on protecting her, seeing as you threw yourself infront of her, so here's you chance." He retorted and the girl glared at him. "On the plus side, you get to burn the bodies of the dead vampires." He throws her a lighter that she expertly catches with her vampire reflexes.

A bright smile lights her face, making him chuckle before he sped of.

The girl goes outside, pours the cans of gasoline over the bodies, takes the lighter and burns the bodies. She smiles as she watches the flames but it fades as she recognise the smell of burning flesh. The same thing she smelled when Kol burned. Her mood immediately darkened as she thought about her twin.

Grumbling, Khalia made her way to the werewolf's room. She took of her shoes and her jacket, layed herself down on the couch, and in a few minutes, she was fast asleep.

***

It's morning when the immortal brunette woke up again with a stiff neck from sleeping on the couch in Hayley's room. Khalia looked over to the bed to see the werewolf still sleeping soundly. She smiled slightly at the sight, allowing herself to do so without someone to see.

Eventually she got up and went downstairs to get some breakfeast, a.k.a, a few blood bags that would fix her sore neck and cranky attitude. She was in the middle of her thrid one when she heard foot steps coming downstairs. Curious, she put down her blood bag and walked to the hallway to see her brother. Khalia was about to turn around and go back into the kitchen when Rebekah entered the front door.

"You were right. The girl, Cami she's the key. Marcel likes her, and because of that I got to see the secret weapon of his that you've been going on about." Those are the words out of Rebekah's mouth and Khalia pouted.

"Seriously? I play nanny and I miss out on all of the fun." The brunette complains but she's not that upset about it, she got to make sure that Hayley is safe. Even if she won't admit it.

"Well, don't stand on ceremony. What is it?" Klaus urges her.

"It's not a 'what', it's a 'who'. A girl, Davina. She can't be more than sixteen, and I have never felt power like that." Rebekah says and Khalia groans.

"A witch." Klaus says while Khalia comments, "I hate witches."

"She's not just any witch, she's something I've never seen before, something beyond powerful, and now because of you she has Elijah. Who knows what she could do to him." Panic rises in the brunette as she thinks about her older brother. She really hoped that the witch wasn't powerful enough to kill him. She can't lose another family member.

"Where is she?" Klaus asked and both him and Khalia looked at the blonde, who stops to think, then looks confounded.

"Why don't I like that look?" The brunette asks, eyeing Rebekah.

"That clever bitch. I don't know." She tells the two, angry that her memories are gone.

"What's wrong?" The hybrid asks having an idea of what's wrong but hoping that he is wrong.

"She wiped my memory of the location. Marcel possesses a weapon bigger and more powerful than an Original, and you handed our brother to him! How many times will Elijah forgive you? How long until his hope for your redemption finally dies?" The blonde was now being controlled by her emotions as she shouted but Khalia didn't blame her, she was close to losing her control on her temper as well.

"I did what I had to do! Marcel took our home!" Klaus shouts at the two and that was it for the brunette, she snapped.

Finally being taken over with anger she shouted at her brother, "And what is a home without a family?!"

"I'll tell you. It's worthless. We, Khalia and I, are finding Elijah, whatever it takes." Rebekah glanced at Khalia, who nodded in agreement. "Are you going to help us?"

"Whatever it takes." He tells his two sisters and a smirk - one that Kol had too - appeared on the brunette's face.

***

"I cannot believe you disposed of those vampires without me. You know how I love to set things on fire!" Rebekah complained to her two siblings with a pout, making Khalia chuckle at her words. The Mikaelson trio were sitting in the foyer.

Klaus smirked as he answered. "Was I supposed to leave them in the front yard to rot? Besides, they were my responsibility. They attacked the helpless pregnant girl who's carrying my child!"

"Oh, that's so cute, Klaus," Khalia starts sarcastically. " -But I'm the one who set them on fire because you had more important things to do." The brunette burst his bubble with a smirk on her lips, recieving a glare from Klaus but she just gave him an innocent smile.

Rebekah rolls her eyes at his behavior before saying, "Oh, and to think I was so moved by your new-found sense of fatherly duties towards the werewolf carrying your hybrid bun in her oven."

Hayley entered the foyer, joining the trio. Spotting Khalia, a smile appeared on the pregnant girl's lips - making Klaus and Rebekah smirk as Khalia gave her a pleasant nod instead of just flatout ignoring her. It's not much but it's a start, right? "The werewolf would like to know what the plan is."

"Well, that depends what plan you mean, love- my plan for global domination, Khalia's plan to get high of blood until the end of time, or Rebekah's plan to find love in a cruel, cruel world?" Klaus asked the werewolf, working on his two sister's nerves in the process. Something which is always a plus, in his books at least.

Rebekah takes a pencil from the desk beside her and throws it in Klaus' direction. Klaus catches it easily before it can embed itself in his face but he didn't see the one Khalia threw and it embed itself in his shoulder, making Hayley chuckle and Rebekah smirk at the look of annoyance on his face.

"The plan to rescue Elijah. You know, the good brother? The one who is now in the possession of your mortal enemy after you stabbed him in the back?" Hayley says after letting out a sigh, getting back to the topic.

"Oh please, sweetheart, Elijah is just as evil as the rest of us. He just happens to bother hiding it, while the rest of us don't." Khalia informs the werewolf, making Hayley smile. Sure it wasn't a conversation but the werewolf would take what she can get.

"In the front, if we're being specific." Klaus corrects with a smirk, playing with the pencil Rebekah threw at him and the bloody one in the trash.

"You two said that you would get him back. So is there a plan, or what?" Hayley asked and a shot of jealousy went through Khalia, who didn't like Hayley's concerned tone very much.

"Okay. Well, firstly, Marcel is not my mortal enemy- he's my friend. Albeit one who is unaware that I'm trying to sabotage his hold over the supernatural community of the French Quarter, but a friend nonetheless. And secondly, I daggered Elijah in order to gain Marcel's trust. If I had known he would place my brother in the hands of a particularly nasty teenage witch, I certainly would have weighed my options a bit differently. And thirdly- " He turns to Rebekah and gestures for her to speak. " -Sister, please."

"And thirdly, the plan, as you have demanded, is for Niklaus to simply ask Marcel for Elijah back." Rebekah explains and Khalia snorts.

"You realise he is not going to say yes, right?" Khalia asked but she didn't get an answer from her siblings, making her pout slightly.

Hayley asks with and incredulous look on her face, "That's... that's not the whole plan, is it?"

Rebekah scoffs, saying, "Please! Klaus may be a miserable excuse for a sibling, but there is none more diabolical."

"That's true." The brunette Original said, nodding her head as she took in her sister's words. "He is a miserable excuse of a brother."

"But I wouldn't trade you for anything in the world." She added on honestly after Klaus glared at her for the umpteenth time that morning, he turned to the werewolf and said, "And that's only the Plan A, love! There's always a Plan B."

"And what's Plan B?" The pregnant girl asked, almost warily.

"War." Klaus answered with a smile.

"And if there is one thing, besides pissing people of, we Mikaelson's are brilliant at - it's war." Khalia told the werewolf and gave her the smallest of smiles, making Hayley feel ten feet tall.

***

let me just tell you guys something, Khalia is going to be super, over protective of Hayley and would murder anyone who thinks of harming her and she is going to have feelings for Hayley, BUT, she is going to reject it over and over again.
