Chapter 14-Familiar Faces

Both me and Evelyn walked in cautiously after all of the staff had gathered in the guest bedroom that the first prince had been sleeping in.

There was hushed whispers spread between little groups of the staff as others investigated the scene. There was very little glass from the broken window as it was broke from inside out as if someone was trying to get out.

Evelyn seemed to notice the eyes on us as well, their gazes seemed more directed towards me than her however. As the whispers changed topics of why to who, obviously they talked about my family as one of the first culprits. I looked around trying to see anything out of the ordinary although I didn't have much to work with seeing as I had never seen the room before. There was a cloth that had been left with a symbol on it, five stars with colorful dots, 'where have I seen that before?' I looked towards the flowers and then it hit me, 'That person from before after the incident with the second prince, Prince Dearlin,'

The first prince rushed in, going through drawers and his suitcases. He opened his bedside table. There was a panic in his eyes as he opened it, I looked over getting on my tippy toes along with Evelyn. I looked towards the drawer and noticed it was empty.

The whispers seemed to start mentioning my family as everyone noticed the princes panicked face. His expression seemed to turn into an angered one as he punched his hand against the side of table as he drew blood from his fist. After a few dead silent seconds he put up a facade as he said "Thank goodness nothing was stolen, everything is fine..."

I noticed Uri standing by the doorway he was observing every action the prince did, he looked almost suspicious of him looking him up and down again and again. His eyebrows were furrowed as he did so.

Soon we were ushered out of the room as the prince left, everyone leaving everyone except Uri, he was left alone still standing by the door. Just a few seconds later after everyone else had left he started going into the room again.

I felt Evelyn's hands push down on my shoulders as we watched from around the corner, Uri seemed to be going towards the broken window as he looked down. He made an angry expression as he started to talk, almost as if he was mad at someone.

I could've sworn I saw him Orion at some point, although I wasn't sure because this doesn't seem like somewhere he would be.

I looked back at Evelyn as she looked back at me, we nodded. We balanced on our toes stopping everytime we came across a creaky floorboard.

We slowly made our way through the doorway finally able to hear Uri, "You idiot what were you thinking pulling a stunt like that,"

Suddenly an all too familiar voice spoke, "Please you were supposed to cover for me,"

"Orion?"

There was silence after I spoke, the room stayed silent for what felt like forever, till grunts filled the air as Orion soon faced me sitting on the windowsill.

"Lucille, and Evelyn please promise me to not tell anyone about this,"

I felt Evelyn's breath on my neck as she had her elbow jabbed in my neck, "So what is all of this about?"

Uri spoke up, "Well you see we found out about a certain plan per say of the first prince."

I looked towards Orion noticing the symbol from before with the stars on his chest, He seemed to nice where my eyes went and smiled.

"So can we help at all," I noticed It's eyes light up as he seemed to get the memo Evelyn was going for.

"Yes of course, absolutely!" He said boarder line shouting.

"How about we meet up at the café from the other day, you know what I'm talking about Luci."

"Yep, understood"

"Well I can't stay very long bye you two, bye love."

With that Orion was out the window, "Love now is it?"

I pushed Evelyn as she teased me about the name as Uri went back to work soon after.

Not even an hour later we were saying our byes to one another, just waiting till tomorrow came.

I walked across the street with Evelyn towards the café from not even two days ago. I noticed Uri and Orion outside waiting for us they seemed to be with someone else however they were looking through the glass in amazement.

As soon as we made it closer I noticed the originally unfamiliar person was Tarian.

We all soon made our way through the doors, Orion sneaking his hand in mine.

"Back so soon you two and with more people now as well, how exciting." Mr.Norberts father spoke

"Yes we just couldn't resist,"

"So what would you guys like?"

I looked back towards everyone for approval, "The garden teapot and the snapping snacks."

"Wonderful choice, it'll be coming up." We all watched intently as he went back, I could've sworn I saw a bird flew out of the door he went through for a second.

There was soon a more flowery scent that came through, you could hear the snapping start as he slowly walked back through the door again. "Here you kids go, your welcomed to have more of needed."

"Thank you sir"

I noticed Uri running towards us, "I just found a good spot" As we walked Uri leading the way J noticed the person that I had seen looking in the glass earlier was Tarian. I was semi-shocked to say the least to see that it was them here and not someone else however I was still happy about it.

After what had seemed like billions of flights of stairs we finally made it to the area that Uri had talked about. It was a large table with ten seats all around although there was only five of us.

I looked towards Uri confused as to why he chose this area even though there was the excessive, "There is some others coming later as well," He replied seemingly understanding what I was trying to say.

I sat by Orion sipping a cup of tea fully realizing how far up we were, spite that I still wasn't able to see the roof doubting if there even was one. Down below is there were people many stories below us not nearly within ear shot of any conversation. Looking around I noticed we were in the magic book section of the library.

Wandering over to a book of spells and curses, although there was a multitude of them but the others seemed to be more basic. I sat back down flipping through the pages waiting for the conversation to start.

Not even a minute later Uri spoke up, "So what do you two know about the prince."

Before I could even speak Evelyn started to list off literally everything she knew, "He's a prick, self consulted as hell, overall horrible person, a manipulator and damn good at it too, a liar and controlling person." There was a long pause for a second, "Oh and he wants me dead 25/8"

I looked towards the other three all with shocked faces, I could slowly see them reconsider life itself after hearing Evelyn speak.

"Lucille what about you?" Uri gave a look as if hoping it wouldn't at all be like Evelyns perspective he was in luck.

"Well I don't really know much about him, although I do get the feeling he might hate me, as well as the fact that he seems to be hiding something especially from his reactions."

"Alright, so any word spoken from here on out should not be repeated to another soul or have any mention beyond this group." Uri then pulled out a contract. It stated the exact words he said as me and Evelyn signed.

Orion spoke up after I set the pen down, "To formally introduce you to our group it's a rebellion against the royal family Abitail, specifically the first prince August,"

Uri picked things up from there, "As someone who is from a family that has served the Abitails for centuries even since the kingdom was first formed, we've been sworn to secrecy as they plan to rule all, and rather cruelly" he paused for a moment "The Abitail kingdom is less than desirable, they plan to get rid of the worldly function of magic."

Evelyn slammed her hands on the table, "What the hell don't they realize how stupid that is, our lives depend on magic we will all die without it," I shook in my seat I hadn't realized how different peoples bodies were here from my original world. I felt Orion's hand grasp mine as he tried to calm me down.

Uri continued to speak, "Yeah, they are sick... they want to do a world suicide for a rebirth and start all over again with them leading, specifically prince August right now he holds the most power originally the family had stopped this plan 100 years ago however recently he's gathered an organization that is restarting the project luckily for us we still have a few months till the process ends" I started to feel sick to my stomach 'The hell how is this even humane killing a bunch of people for your own gain?!'

I took in a shaky breathe, "So what are we planning to do?" There is no way I could go on with life knowing this.

"Well currently we have people like myself trying to stop this from inside the system, and others going against it from outside. We have some who are currently notifying the problem to other kingdoms however without much success. So Evelyn please help us with that from your public status we should be able to convince some of the other kingdoms." He paused again, "Lucille I want you to help by directly pursuing the prince, from what Evelyn said he hates her so you're probably one of the only people fit for the job"

As Uri spoke I felt my hand squeezed to death by Orion, "Jealous much?"  I lightly kissed his cheek.

Orion mumbled underneath his breathe "Yeah, why wouldn't I be."

Tarian soon shouted from across the table, "Ew love I can't handle it!" They mad big hand movements covering their eyes.

"Could we join in on this meeting,"

"Sure Melor-"

"Melora!" Evelyn shouted practically jumping into her arms.

"Hi Ev, I did realize you would be here I would've brought back your brush with me." I looked back behind Melora to notice Alibis behind her his hair in a long braid and behind him a taller person decked out in full armor besides a head piece and a huge sword."

They all sat down as the conversation started again, the large guy in armor started to speak, "We've been able to form an alliance with some of the Northern tribes, we have some guys heading East now."

"Thank you Philip,"

Tarian started to speak, "Also you two should stay after school tomorrow, Mr.Norberts room there's an important event happening."

"Speaking of events we are assuming that August is planning on fulfilling his plans during the moon festival when all of the leaders of the neighboring kingdoms and tribes plan to get together, let's just hope we aren't wrong."

'Wait the moon festival isn't that when Lucille was executed in the books,"

"The last thing I want you two to do is how that you will do your best to survive and protect others no matter what, by accepting this vow you pledge that you will do your best to never succumb to evil, to live on and fight against those who want to hurt others, and last but not least do whatever you see fit in the moment and never go against your moral code even if it goes against others."

I looked around the table as Evelyn spoke, "Well that sounds pretty good to me I accept,"

"Me too, after all of this I just can't sit here and do nothing,"

"Welcome you two, and thank you for working with us I hope that we will all stay on the same path as one another throughout this may our hearts guide us to protect all and cherish life."

(A/N)- Oh gosh school is tough, although I can't complain that much most of our in class work doesn't count for a grade most of the time less stress than last year that's for sure just a list of busy work. I hope you have a wonderful day and days to come bye my Lovelies!
