Chapter 2-Familiarity and Unfamiliarity

First Person-Lucille

As we waited in vain, my eyes wandered in dismay. As I looked to my left I saw 'father' was sweating profusely. I looked down to see his hands fiddling anxiously. As I watched them, I saw 'mother' grab his hands and proceed to massage the thumb along with the web of the pointer and thumb. Suddenly the tension in the room seemed to go down and 'father' regained his demeanor.

"Alright everyone," a slight shakey voice arose, "it seems that the carriage is late, however we must not be, so up on your toes." Came a more confident and sure voice.

The room bustled with shoes clacking against the hard oak as everyone rose.

A slightly unsure hand of the man that just spoke gently grabbed the handle on the door with hesitation, however another hand encased it.

"You said we musn't wait, so what are you waiting for," addressed the more confident of the two.

"Nothing," ushered a whisper.

As we all recklessly made our way down the three steps. Our hair and eyes started to change to uncharacteristic colors. However no one faltering or falling.

Once we all had made it down onto the bricked path, everyone walked. We all ended up following each other in a line all except 'mother and father' who walked next to one another, smiles not wavering.

Suddenly a light squeal came from the back, "Aww little duckies," cheered a light voice.

Everyone's heads shot straight back looking at the ducks behind us in a row along with Elysia crouching down.

"Now no matter how adorable they are we need to keep moving," 'Father' spoke.

The clacking of shoes could be heard as we made our way on our journey.

Clack, Clack, Clack

Soon the giant castle started to come into view. Our feet throbbing from the horrendously long walk.

While we made our way to the tall doors, feeling pressured from their aura 'father' stepped ahead and pushed them open with confidently. When we stepped foot into the building flowers started to bloom along with other plants flourishing.

The staff looked at us utterly shocked and breathless, processing only to give each other knowing glances. The other guests seemed to glare at us.

Elysia's grip turned deadly as she held onto my hand, "Backstabbers," She muttered only audible to the both of us.

My eyes wandered among the crowd everyone was wearing expensive clothing and gaudy jewels. I then gave a bright smile and soon everyone one in my family smiled as well.

Suddenly my eyes stopped at a breath taking person, Evelyn. She seemed to have a shocked look on her face with confusion in her eyes.

I then made my way through the crowd, no one seemed to even want to be six feet within me, 'Covid much?' I rolled my eyes.

"Hey, you!" I heard someone shout I looked over, a purple mess filling my vision. 'Oh my goodness it's so so soft.'

"See Melora this is the guy that missed the bird flying with a sword!"

"Good to see you too," I replied bowing in the process. Everyone watching looked in disgust wondering why he was talking to me.

I looked over to who I presume was Melora, in the book she was Evelyn's best friend, executed along Lucille for a reason I don't remember.

"Your Melora I assume, pleasure to meet you Lucille Lindel." I said eyeing her. 'She definitely knows something, why would she be put to death otherwise.'

"Ah yes so you are the honor student in our grade," She said coldly.

We started to chat for awhile, it seems that Melora was also into embroidery. As the extensive memories of Lucille on the topic came into place we hit it off.

"Hello there, thank you for coming," A voice chimed, it was the infamous Evelyn.

"Ah, hello you must be Evelyn Rosetta," I replied she almost looked supposed at my actions. 'Strange, maybe Lucille had a reputation before that made her shocked?'

Another person came into view.

"Evelyn would you mind dancing with me, after all you did turn down all of my proposals from before," The mysterious man questioned.

"Actually I'm already dancing with someone," She panicked grabbing my hand in the process.

"Sorry, but it seems that I already have her locked in for this dance," I also panicked to the man.

"Tch stupid kid," He whispered walking off. 'Okay asshat' I thought solemnly to myself.

As we waltzed along the dance floor she told me, "Just so you know this doesn't mean I'm interested in you romantically."

"Oh yeah completely, and even if it was the case. It would be a hopeless cause, I'm into guys." I replied looking down at her.

As our feet went along the floor the song never seeming to end. We both avoided each other's faces. I sensed a hatred in her for me.

When the song finally ended, we found our way back to Melora and Alibis.

"Ah you two, how was the dance? Couldn't tell from the expressions you guys were making." Alibis questioned, you could hear the concern in his voice.

"Never, again." We both said in unison.

"That guy was a total creep though," I said back to Evelyn.

"I know right!" she muttered, "I almost forgot about him." She whispered.

"Eh?" I questioned.

"Oh, nothing." She said waving her hands with a cheery voice.

Little antics like that went on for a while, talking from person to person.

Finally everyone was seated at a multiple long tables in the dining room.

I sat in between the twins, their guards up.

Then a voice roared across the room, "Thank you everyone for coming to the banquet of Rosetta Academy. I'd like to thank you entering our school system." I noticed father flinch with a glare in his eyes barely noticable with his teeth clenched.

"I'd like to thank everyone of you for helping The Rosetta Kingdom flourish. As your King I could not be as successful without you guys." Everyone in my family tensed at his words. 'Can this dude shut up already'

Although we had to deal with that the food was absolutely delicious. I swear it was literally melting in my mouth. I must of had a weird expression on my face because everyone was looking at me. But the dessert just blew me out of the waters with how amazing yet simple it was. It had chocolate in the middle still hot it was delicious.

Recipe:

-2 slices of bread (preferably with no holes)

-1 piece of chocolate

-Egg

-Bread crumbs

1-Put chocolate in the middle of the bread, and put other slice on top

2- Center glass on top of the bread with the chocolate in the middle

3-Beat egg (in bowl)

4-Cover Bread and chocolate with egg (cover entire surface)

5-Cover in Bread crumbs

6-Put in pan with oil on medium heat

7-Cook until golden brown

Cool of for 5 minutes

Done-Serving 1

Once everyone was done, people started to leave the banquet. As we finished and we're about to leave we said our byes to people we had met.

Suddenly Evelyn took me away to an unknown place. When I looked I noticed it was a garden. That was dead all around.

"I just wanted to say thank you for earlier," She spoke.

"Oh no problem, actually he was bothering me a bit too."

She then pulled me closer and whispered, "Listen I don't know what shit you're up too but I don't understand why you are acting so different."

I looked at her in shock, 'Somethings up, she had never encountered Lucille before, until the banquet in the story.'

As we walked back a heavy atmosphere between us, I was finally out the doors.

Again we were walking, this time back to our house. The entire walk was filled with anger from everyone. Once we finally made it back we all went separate ways.

I got changed into a simple dress shirt and shorts. Flopping on the bed questions that couldn't be answered floating in my head. I felt hopeless and clueless as I passed out.

When I woke up I instantly got changed, I rushed and flopped around looking for my uniform.

As I ran down stairs skipping at very least 7 steps in the process I made my way to the dining room to eat breakfast.

As I sat down in the spot I sat previously. I looked down at the plate of waffles absolutely melting in the process of eating them everyone made their way to the table at random times. Now though all the anger from last night seemed to disappear in the night.

"Good morning and good day," Father spoke.

"Goof Mofing" I smiled waffles in my mouth.

"Lucille dear," Mother spoke "Don't speak with food in your mouth."

Once the Twins had finished we left. My vision bouncing up and down as I had a hop in my step. 'Oh my god I've never been so nervous and happy in my entire life.' I thought holding cheeks with my hands freaking out as we walked.

I looked up to a huge building. It stood towering above us. This was it, Rosetta Academy.

I had lost both Aluxio and Cytherea in the halls. I looked down the endless crowd of people my soul leaving my body in the process.

'1-1, 1-1, 1-1....' I repeated in my head, this was my home room number advanced math. As I found it I shouted silently in glee.

I walked in, everyone lost in conversation. I sat in the seat in the very middle, conversation central. You can learn the most useful stuff here. The bell rang and class started.
