Chapter 3-Confusion and Even More Confusion
Reincarnated No, But I Woke Up In A Different Body
First Person-Lucille
I thought that class would be way more interesting but it was at the easiest thing ever, a middle schooler would find these easy. I understand that this is a different world but they have literal magic and this is their math level.
We had a pre assessment to see what level we were at. If classes were going to be like this then I might as well not show up if they're this dumb.
The test had basic algebra, slope, and exponents. I smirked as I watched everyone struggling as I had finished minutes prior. I doodled on my paper slowly spacing out losing myself in my mind.
I heard gasps all around me "Alright, who's doing that!" The teacher roared. I looked up at her confused. Then water came poring down on me with flowers in it.
"Lucille go to the nurses and get a change of clothes, I'd like to see you after class please." She said with venom lacing her voice.
"Yes ma'am," I replied embarrassed. I felt snickers around me as I walked out the door. My clothes stuck to me as I walked down. Everytime I moved a thorn would prick me. I had looked to the wall to see Nurse on the sign to the left of the door.
When I entered I was met with a kind woman that asked what I was there for, of course she had already assumed what it was and gave me spare clothes.
"Thank you very much," I thanked her.
"So well mannered," she said with a shocked expression "and anytime sweetie, it is my job after all."
I felt relieved as I finished up putting on the last of the new clothes on my body, I dried my hair with a towel tossing it around rather roughly. It was still dripping a little by the time I was finished but not as much as before.
I excited the nurses walking down the long hall. I couldn't help but stop and listen as I heard a beautiful humming coming from down another hall. It was enchanting I couldn't help but wander closer to the mysterious noise as it grew louder and louder. I opened the door as I found the door the beautiful melody was coming from.
"Who's there?" The voice questioned.
"Oh sorry about my intrusion it's just your humming was so beautiful." I reassured the green haired person in front of me feeling embarrassed.
"Ah how wonderful, mind if I paint you then, you seem very beautiful definitely worthy of a portrait."
"But you have your eyes closed how can you tell?" I giggled confused at the persons antics.
"Oh silly me, I should tell you my magic deals with souls, I can see what a person really look like because of it I don't even have to take a peak at you." He announced. "There's no reason to keep who and what you truly are hidden away from me."
"I," I was astonished for a second. 'He must be bluffing."
"Now sit sit," He commanded.
As I sat on the chair time seemed to slow, the humming from earlier continued. The sun poured into the room as it rose into the sky from the ground. I scrunched my nose as it fell on my eyes.
It was so peaceful, as I just looked ahead admiring the beauty outside the glass. Suddenly I saw a flower encased in clear water. I then realized it was the culprit of getting me wet earlier. 'So that's why the teacher got mad at me earlier.'
I then looked back over when I heard the noise of wood clacking together. The humming had stopped without me even realizing it.
"Aha so I was correct," the green haired boy said opening his eyes. They were a beautiful dull purple. He stared me down looking back from me and the canvas infront of himself. "Anyways, I'm done so why don't you take a look."
"Oh really, thanks!" I exclaimed, as I looked at the painting at first I didn't realize it but then it hit me my hair was the same blonde color it was at home but with petals in it 'must be from earlier' along with my eyes being blue. " I think you mixed up my hair color and eyes," I stuttered.
"No I didn't, or you just didn't hear me earlier." He eyed me, he then grabbed my head brushing my hair gently. I leaned into his touch. "Who would've known, that you were so beautiful yet it's hidden beneath so much." He whispered in my ear.
"Would you look at the time, I must be on my way, the name is Orion." He gently addressed running out of the room at a fast pace.
"I, wait I just!" I yelled trying to get his attention leaving the room as well. As his figure turned the corner I went down the opposite end going back to my original class.
As I made my way back to class time still felt slowed I could hear the birds chirped as I reached the door that had 1-1 to the side of it .
Once I re-entered the class from earlier in the morning time resumed to it's normal speed. The chatter of the other people in the room ceased in an instant the teacher motioned for me to come over to her. I felt everyone eyeing me, staring me down as if I was prey for hunt.
"Now please explain to me why you pulled that stunt when you should've been doing the assessment Mr.Lindell?" She beckoned me.
"Well you see I didn't realize I was doing it I was doodling and it just-"
"Mr.Lindell you were supposed to be taking a test not doodling!" She cut me off.
"I know but you see I had already finished the test." I fiddled with my hands, my nerves flying everywhere.
"Very well then give me it, even you an honors student should have taken longer," she smirked.
I went to go get the paper kids whispering to me "Someone's going to be in trouble." 'No you guys are just idiots' My thoughts chimed as I held my smile. When I returned the paper to her she examined over it with a shocked expression, she cleared out her throat "Very well, it seems you did finish it you are now dismissed."
"Thank you very much, have a good day."
I walked to maze like garden still having 40 minutes till my next class. I sat down on the soft grass.
"Fancy seeing you hear," a voice from the previous night announced.
"Hello, Evelyn," I replied. Her blonde hair tickled my face as she leaned down.
"Yeah, still as ugly as I remember-" She announced.
"You shouldn't be talking to yourself Evelyn people might think your crazy" I countered back.
"Silly me I forgot to add context to it. I mean you Lucille Lindel are still as ugly as I remembered," As those words came spouting out her mouth I started to rise from the grass at a quick pace.
Bang!
"Why's your head so hard?" I asked a few minutes later looking over at the figure next to me.
"I don't know maybe your the one that has a hard head!" She yelled, "Haha I'm surprised you have the guts to talk to me-"
"Oh I'm sorry your highness am I speaking to improperly." I spoke in a sarcastic manner. We giggled in the grass for a little.
"Well can't be seen hanging out with losers," Evelyn started as she got off of the grass brushing off her uniform snickering.
"What the hell is that supposed to mean! Hey get your ass back here we're not done!" I shouted as her figure walked off. 'Everyone's always walking of on me' I thought as I got up wiping the grass off my pants.
As I walked to my next class I was still trying to make my way through the garden running into a bush on accident. To any one passing by it would've probably looked like I had just rolled around in a field of flowers with all the greenery in my hair and on my clothes.
Once I finally made it back into the building my shoes started to clack across the tile echoing. I weaved my way through the hallway trying to find my next class. It was magics class, you see I was actually excited for this one because despite having Lucille's previous memories I still had questions.
As I walked in to the classroom I noticed Melora was there sitting there all alone. There was also an older man sitting at a desk in front.
"Oh how wonderful someone else has decided to come, take a seat." The man said joyful. "What's you're name?"
"My name is Lucille Lindel pleased to meet you sir," I greeted.
"Lindel, Lindel, Lin- aha right there!" He muttered pen grazing the paper on his desk. "I should probably introduce myself too, I'm your magics teacher Mr.Norbert and apparently you two are the only ones that showed up because all these little brats think they know everything about magic." He smiled however you could see the blood vessel on his head.
I sat down next to Melora and faced the front of the classroom. "Hello Lucille how are you doing today?" She questioned.
"Oh I'm doing wonderful how about you?"
"Good, I'm glad that I at least have this class with you," She sighed.
"Yeah, I'm glad that your not a complete stranger,"
"Alright you two let's begin, it seems you guys already know each other so we can start right away." Mr.Norbert shouted across the empty room. "Now if you will I need to see both of you demonstrate your magic I will start."
His hands started to disperse light from his hands, as his long legs started to glide across the room. His light brown hair started to have a gold hue around it. A few seconds later there was a chinese like dragon flowing around the classroom.
"As you can see I am a summoner using light magic. Most adolescence like yourselves don't have as much control as to when you use your magic or how." His honey gold eyes scanned the room. "With this class you will learn those skills and master them. From this point on you two are the only ones that will be able to learn this because of the arrogant fools skipping." He grinned. "Now if you may it's your guy's turns."
I rose from my seat, "If I could I would like to go first." I gulped I started.
"Give me your best shot," he smiled.
I started to concentrate. I started to feel the cool water from before this time not splashing on me. I started to move it with my fingers when the water came up in front of my eyes I could see beautiful flowers and fish flowing around in the crystal liquid.
I heard clapping, " Bravo bravo, how wonderfully beautiful that was."
I sat back down as Melora pushed he seat out and stood. "I will demonstrate now," she said as things started to float." Me and Mr.Norbert started straying away from the ground as everything progressively rose. We started to float back down as Melora stopped.
"How wonderful, you both are amazing dare I even say the best students I've had so far!" Our teacher screamed.
The class went on us practicing, it felt that for once in this world everything made sense like the entire puzzle fit together. However it was only 10 in the morning and a long day ahead.
As lunch came upon us we were dismissed from the classroom. The cafeteria was filled with wonderful food. 'As expected of a prestigious school,"
I decided upon a lobster bisque,
Recipe:
Ingredients-
Stock
Butter (I recommend the battery from muscles, the food muscles)
Lobster
Flour
Cream
1- Add stocks and start to boil them
2-Add melted butter to stock and mix
3-Add in flour and cream until wanted texture
4-Add in Lobster
Recommendation: I personally recommend having brie cheese and warm bread on the side.
I sat down and started to eat the liquid putting spoonfuls in my mouth, and when I tell you it was amazing I mean it. The texture of the lobster cut up into the perfect bite sized pieces was just spectacular and I loved the thickness of the broth.
"Hello there my flower," I heard the voice that had previously been humming announce.
"Hello Orion, what's with the nickname?" I inquired taking another spoonful of my bisque.
"Oh nothing just thought it fit," He whispered blushing. He sat down next to me. He ate a wrap along with a side of saltine crackers. We both ate in silence.
"So about earlier, I-"
"There's nothing to worry about, besides I like to keep things between me and other people," He winked smiling in the process.
I went back to eating avoiding eye contact, 'He just so Uh- how do I say it so so' my mind wandered as I ate bread and brie, the bread was still warm so it felt like heaven. I felt a slight pressure on the back of my head. I looked over and realized Orion was playing with my hair. We stayed like that for the rest of lunch, he gave the best head scratches so much so I felt as if I was going to fall asleep right then and there.
