C H A P T E R 13

Lily's POV

Today we were going to the wedding Adonis hadn't wanted to go to. We had to be at the reception in about thirty minutes and Adonis was still at work. If he had made me get all dressed up for him to decide he didn't want to go, we were going to have a problem tonight.

I heard the front door open and close, and heard someone running up the stairs. I realised it was probably Adonis going to get ready for the wedding reception. Adonis's family had apparently been invited to the reception and not the actual wedding ceremony.

I had gone with a dress that was standard and under the radar because at somebody else's wedding you don't want to be flashy.

I was sitting on the couch expressing my anger about Adonis being late on the girl's group chat and they were laughing at me.

I heard Adonis come into the living room and I got up and walked past him going to the front door. I saw George and I smiled at him as he said ,'Evening ma'am.'

I gave him a fake frown and said ,'George I told you to call me Lily.'

He nodded with a smile and said ,'Yes Lily.'

I got into the car and sat down and started going through the pictures I had taken in my outfit. I wanted to post tonight so I wanted to choose the best ones. The car started moving and we were on our way. I looked at Adonis from the corner of my eye and Adonis was just staring out of the window. I huffed because I can't make him feel bad if he isn't even paying any attention to me. He looked like he was deep in thought.

We got to the venue and he stepped out of the car and held his hand out for me. I took his hand and we held hands and walked to the entrance of the venue. Adonis gave the security his invitation and name and we were let in.

We walked in and we were a bit late so we hurried to the table we were sitting on which had Adonis's family on it. We got to the table and I greeted Adonis's parents and I saw Adonis's sister.

I walked to her and said ,'Hey, I'm Lily.'

She screeched, hugged me and said ,'Oh I know, I can't believe you're dating my brother. You're even more gorgeous in person.'

I smiled shyly and said ,'Thank you. You're really pretty too.'

She dragged me to sit next to where she was sitting and said ,'I'm Anneliese.'

I smiled and said ,'Hi Anneliese, it's so nice to meet you.'

I looked up and Adonis was already looking at me and I mouthed are you okay and he gave me slight smile. Adonis came and sat next to me, during the reception people would come up to him and talk to him abput business or just to catch up. One thing I had noticed was that everytime Adonis came back from talking to someone he had a new glass of whiskey, he obviously had a high tolerance level for alcohol but it had to end somewhere and I was scared for that moment.

He had just left with a man to go to the bar I think. I was trying to keep an eye on him from my peripheral view but I lost him. I didn't know how to handle the situation but you tell the alcohol was starting to affect him. I turned to Anneliese and said ,'Please watch my stuff?'

She smiled and said ,'Of course.'

Anneliese and I had taken videos for the whole night. We followed each others socials and we had been talking the whole night. I really liked her and hopefully we'll get to spend more time together. I got up and started walking in the direction Adonis had gone in. I saw at the bar and he had downed another glass of whiskey and he was getting a refill. I got to him as he was about to drink the drink and I grabbed the glass from him and gave it back to the bartender.

He turned to me and said ,'What'd you do that for?'

I looked at him seriously and said ,'I think you've had a lot to drink, more than enough.'

He looked to the bartender probably for another drink. The bartender looked at me and I shook my head and he put the bottle down. I took Adonis's hand and said ,'We are going home.'

He shook his head and said ,'No you and mother wanted me to come here so my heart shattered and here we are.'

I looked at him questionably and then things started clicking. He hadn't wanted to go to this wedding, being quiet and overdrinking. Whoever who is getting married probably has history with Adonis.

I asked my next question even though I was partially afraid of what the answer was going to be. I asked ,'Why would your heart shatter?'

He looked at his shoes and said ,'I always thought I'd be the one getting married to Josie.'

It felt like someone had stabbed me, I was sad partially for him but it also for myself because I had been falling for Adonis regardless of the fact that we weren't together a bunch. The little things I was getting to know about him I had been falling for and now I find out that he is in love with someone else when I was falling in love with him.

I put on a brave face and said ,'Come on Adonis, let's get you home.'

I held his hand and started leading him to the table so we could get our stuff and say goodbye. When we were getting to the table I felt Adonis stop walking and I turned to see what the problem was , he was staring at someone. I followed his eyes and there was a girl with red luscious locks and green eyes and she was wearing white so I was guessing she was the bride. From Adonis's reaction I realised this was the girl he was talking about, I felt a pang in my chest and let go of his hand. She made eye contact with Adonis and her eyes widened and she started walking towards him. Adonis's family stilled and were watching them ,I calmly moved out the way in a way that wasn't noticeable.

The girl came and gave Adonis a hug and he stood frozen. I felt as if I was watching two lovers reunite and I felt like the hole in my heart was just widening. My eyes started watering and Adonis stood frozen and a tear fell out of my eye. I swiftly wiped the tear amd I felt someone hold my hand and I saw Anneliese standing next to me, she squeezed my hand reassuringly but it made me want to burst into tears right there on the spot because of the comfort.

The comfort Anneliese had just provided me with made me want to break down. Right there I knew what had happened I had fallen hard and fast once again and my heart was breaking once again. I took a deep breathe in in an effort to calm myself down.

I heard someone say my name and I looked up and it was Anneliese, she motioned for me to introduce myself. I gave my best smile and went to the girl and said ,'Hi, I'm Lily Hart.'

As if this couldn't get worse for me she was stunning. It was that rare beauty that was a fresh breathe of air.

She gave me a smile and said ,'Oh it's nice to meet you. I'm Josie Brown but now Kingsley.'

I gave her a smile and she said ,'Are you someone's plus one?'

Anneliese jumped in and said ,'She's Adonis's girlfriend.'

I internally cringed at how pathetic I must've seemed because I was his girlfriend but I had just watched the two lovers reunite.

The kind look on her face vanished for a bit then reappeared and she said ,'That's nice. Not his usual type but things change.'

I gave her a bitchy smile and said ,'Yeah for sure. '

I turned to Anneliese and said,'I'm just going to freshen up.'

I held my head up and walked away to the bathroom. I got to the bathroom and took a deep breathe and washed my hands and walked out. I had decided in the bathroom I was going to announce I was leaving and Adonis could stay. I was going to have to call Benjamin and I felt bad because he was probably resting but I couldnt stay at this wedding any longer.

I walked out of the bathroom and headed back to the table. I went to Adonis's parents and said ,'Mr and Mrs Hamilton I think I'm going to call it a night.'

Mrs Hamilton looked into my eyes probably trying to read what I was feeling but my mother had trained me very well in that department so I'm sure she couldn't tell. She hugged and said ,'Are you sure?'

I nodded and said ,'Yes I have a meeting tomorrow and so I should probably head home to rest up for that.'

I was walking away and she said ,'Aren't you going to take Adonis with you?'

I shook my head and said ,'I'm sure he still wants to be here so I'm going to call my driver to come get me.'

Mr Hamilton shook his head and said ,'Don't be silly dear, take him with you besides I think he is drunk.'

I nodded and walked towards where Adonis was sitting and I said ,'Adonis I'm going home, I dont know if you want to come too or .'

He put his hands on my face and said ,'Rose, where did you go?'

I took his hands off my face and I saw a flash of hurt cross his face and I said ,'I was in the bathroom. I'm going home.'

He got up in a hurry and said ,'Great, let's go.'

We started walking towards the exit and I saw Adonis's car come around and Francis opened the door and I had to help Adonis because he was tumbling all over the place. The drive home was silent and when we got home I had to help him again.

When we got to the stairs he decided he didn't want to walk anymore and I looked at him angrily and I said ,'Seriously Adonis, you better start moving because I'm not in the mood to coax you to do anything.'

He looked up at me with his doe eyes and I said ,'Pretty please Adonis, I've had a long day.'

He sighed and got up and we started going up the stairs which took us about thirty minutes of arguing because he kept stopping and taking breaks. We finally got to the room and I led him inside and made him sit on the bed.

I went to take shower and I cried in shower and when I came out going to the walk in closet to grab pyjamas he was passed out on the bed. I took his blazer, shoes and tie off and as I was about to go he pulled me onto the top of him. I tried to pull away but his hold kept tightening. I remembered Adonis is very ticklish so I tickled him and he let go whilst squirming and I went to change.

I put him on the bed properly and tucked him in. I was about to sleep too then I decided against it grabbed a pillow and blanket and went to sleep on the pool chairs outside.

I sat on the chairs looking at the stars for some time then I finally fell asleep.
