C H A P T E R 20

Lily's POV

We were playing Jenga after we finished dinner. We had ordered pizza and we sat on my roof eating pizza and having wine looking at the stars. Everyone was sitting in couples and on top of each other and before dinner Adonis had discovered my game cupboard and so they all agreed on Jenga. I hadn't talked much during the whole exchange about the games because when Zach and I were friends this was what we did.

Zach and I used to come to Cancun when we were stressed and I wish with all my heart we could have stayed the way we were. Zach had become my brother and he knew me way more than anyone else. The thought if playing these games without him was affecting me. We had come to Cancun and we were tired of going out and we wanted to chill but we didn't know what we wanted to do and I remember we walked into a store and he was buying me snacks then he said he had bought a whole bunch of games too from jenga to a deck of cards to never have I ever and other stuff.

Everyone went downstairs and I stayed behind clearing up my roof because firstly I wouldn't be able to sleep if I left this mess up here and secondly I wasn't ready to play the games. It was ridiculous how much this was affecting me they were just games. I was picking up the wine glasses and pizza boxes and went to the kitchen. I put the boxes in the bin and the glasses in the dishwasher.

I stared at the wall and jumped when I heard my name. I turned around and Adonis was looking at me with a worried look on his face.

I took a deep breathe and said ,'Uhm yeah what's up?'

He furrowed his brows even more and said ,'You good?'

I nodded and tried to be convincing in my amswer.

He got up and started walking towards me and I went to the fridge and took a bottle of water and said ,'Yeah I'm fine why?'

He stopped because he saw I moved away from him and said ,' You don't seem fine.'

I drunk my water and said ,'I'm fine.'

He nodded like he was trying to convince himself that I was telling the truth.

Adonis nodded again and said ,'So let's go play.'

I shook my head and said ,'I think I'm going to sit this out.'

He stood up again and said ,'Why not?'

I put my bottle on the counter and said ,'I'm not feeling well and I'll bring the mood down.'

Adonis looked at me in disbelief and said ,'Babe.'

I gave him a smile and I hoped it was convincing and I said ,'I'll be there watching you guys but I can't play.'

He nodded slowly and said ,'Okay let's go.'

I gave him another small smile and said ,'I'm coming, just let me make some tea. Do you want some?'

He shook his head no and walked out but not before looking back at me three or four times. On a normal day I would have said how cute that was but for now the whole Zachary thing is affecting me way too hard.

I made me some vanilla chai tea my absolute favorite hot drink and went into the living room and sat on a couch where they had set up the jenga in the centre. I sat cross legged on the couch and started slowly sipping my tea.

Connor pulled out a small bag from my game cupboard and said ,'Yo Lily this is so cool you have a polaroid camera.'

They all went to the camera and were talking about taking pictures. Another thing Zachary had bought for me and I kept this one in Cancun and I had one in Los Angeles.

Jane squealed and said ,'And there are some pictures.'

Nicole started and said ,'These are hella cute who took them.'

I looked up and everyone was standing awkwardly looking around at each other. Connor and Nicole walked out and Jane and Ben followed and Adonis was left holding the camera and some pictures.

Adonis turned to me and said ,'Why didn't you want to play again?'

The way he said it made me nervous and I stayed silent. He threw my camera onto the couch and it's like I flipped a switch and now I was annoyed.

I folded my arms and said ,'Adonis pick up my polaroid camera and put it in it's case and don't throw it because it's not yours and neither did you buy it.'

He chuckled and said, 'Rose answer my question.'

I gave him a look and said ,'I have nothing to say to you till you do what I told you to do.'

I started walking up the stairs towards our bedroom and I heard him coming after me and I got into the room and into the walk in closet and changed into my pyjamas and Adonis was standing on the other side of my counter table thing that had my jewellery inside it.

I finished changing and I turned to face him and he didnt seem as angry as before but now he just seemed solemn. He put the polaroids on the counter thing and said ,'Is this why you didn't want to play?'

I looked at the polaroids and they were like fifteen of Zachary and I playing jenja or monopoly. I looked up at Adonis and he was giving me an intense look.

I sighed and said ,'Honestly.'

He wiped his face and said ,'Right.'

I shook my head and said ,'Zachary was my brother he was the one I was with all the time when I was here. It just so happened that we came here for vacation.'

Adonis nodded and said ,'Okay well why didn't you tell me that.'

I took a deep breathe and just as I was about to speak Adonis came and lifted me up. I looked at him and said ,'I'm sorry for lying but I didn't realise I missed Zachary this much too.'

He nodded and we started kissing, he walked out of the walk in closet and closed the walk in closet door and switched off the light. He placed me on the bed and said ,'I believe I have something to prove tonight.'

I giggled and he started kissing up my thigh when he was kissing up my tummy and we heard a banging on the door. Connor started shouting and said ,'Guys we are hungry can we go get food.'

Adonis growled and I giggled and said ,'Uhm sure Connor we'll be right down in a second.'

Adonis looked at me and I chuckled and said, 'Let's go Adonis, I think we are taking your car.'

I put on my slides and decided the oversized hoodie I was wearing was appropriate. I put on a headband and walked downstairs. I sat on the couch waiting for Adonis and he came down in sweats and a hoodie and slides. He looked completely fuckable but when does he not.

He grumbled as he was getting to me and I laughed and got up and started walking out. Connor was standing at our car by himself literally bouncing. Adonis narrowed his eyes at Coonor and said ,'Where are the others?'

Connor shrugged and opened the door but Adonis quickly shut the door. He looked at him again and said ,'Why didn't you just go with them instead of disturbing us?'

He shrugged and said ,'Adonis you're the richest one out of all of us.'

I couldn't help the giggle that came out of me and Adonis looked at Connor in disbelief and said ,'You're a billionaire Peter.'

Connor shrugged and said ,'Yeah but not like you.'

Adonis took my hand and said ,'We are not taking him, he can go himself this is ridiculous.'

Connor grabbed Adonis's arm and said ,'Please.'

Adonis looked at me and I decided to help Peter too because I was hungry, so I added a pout and he groaned. He got into the car grumbling and Peter and I highfived and got into the car too.

The car started and Peter said ,'They are at McDonalds, the one closest to here.'

I searched it up on the navigation and Adonis started. Connor sighed and said ,'I'm upset this is going to be over soon.'

I turned to him and said ,'What?'

He looked at me and said ,'Vacation, Jane has to leave for work tomorrow and Ben even though he is injured has to be back in Los Angeles to watch the game.'

I nodded in agreement and said ,'Yeah sucks, how long are you guys staying though?'

He looked up from his phone and said ,'As long as Nicole wants. I have not been on vacation in a long time my dad said I should stay as long as possible.'

I chuckled and said ,'You guys are the same with your workaholic mindset.'

We got to McDonalds and Connor said ,'Because of my behaviour I will be paying tonight.'

Adonis scoffed and said ,'You thought you had a choice.'

Connor went into McDonalds and I saw a message come in from Jenny. I opened it and it was about the 73 questions with Vogue thing. I skimmed through the article and it had everything inside, all Jenny wanted was to see if I was up for it or not. I quickly replied Jenny and saying I needed a little time to think about it and I'd reply her in about thirty minutes.

I looked up and there was a flash and Adonis stood there with his phone up. I rolled my eyes at him amd said ,'You don't need to photograph me all the time you know.'

He nodded and put his arm around and said ,'Well I know that but I'm just having fun.'

He looked at the picture and in a tone of amazement said ,'But you always look good regardless though.'

I looked at the picture and said ,'I don't look good.'

He shook his head at me and said ,'Uh show off.'

I rolled my eyes and said ,'I'm not.'

He gave me a look that said ,'Are you sure about that.'

I gave him an innocent smile and he gave me a peck. I held his hand on his other side with my hand that was closest to him. I leaned into him amd said ,'So GQ wants to do the 73 questions thing with me.'

He gave me a confused look and I deadpanned at him. I let go of his hand and said ,'Adonis, don't tell me you don't know what that is.'

He shrugged and said ,'Fine I won't say it. '

We had just walked into McDonalds and I was in front of him looking at him with disbelief. I shook my head in disappointment and went to stand next to Nicole.

Nicole laughed and said ,'Why do you look so shocked?'

I looked at her and said ,'Adonis doesn't know what the GQ 73 questions is.'

Adonis and Connor had collected a table number and were walking to the table and we were following. Nicole looked at me and said ,'What no ways, really?'

We sat in the booth next to Jane and the boys were sitting opposite their girls. Nicole looked at Adonis and said ,'Adonis, what's the GQ 73 questions?'

He shrugged and said ,'The thing Rose was asked if she wanted to do.'

Nicole and Jane both looked at me and at the same time shouted ,'What!'

I sunk in my seat and Nicole said ,'GQ wants to ask you 73 questions?'

I nodded and said ,'Yeah?'

Connor paused us with his hands and said ,'We are confused here.'

Ben looked at me and said ,'Yeah me too.'

Jane rolled her eyes at the guys and said ,'Basically it's when GQ comes to your house and they ask you exactly seventy three questions. Not a lot of people get to do it so it means that Lily here is like super high.'

Ben looked at me with an impressed look and said ,'I'm proud of you young one.'

I put my hands up and said ,'I don't know if I'm doing it though.'

Nicole held my hands and said ,'Lily you have made it, you have to do this please. Those models won't be able to say shit about us coming from wealthy families because we did this on our own.'

I looked at Nicole and said ,'That is why I don't want to. What if they think I got it because of our connections?'

Nicole rolled her eyes and said ,'Then that's their problem.'

I nodded and said ,'Uhm okay I'll be right back, I'm going to go call Jenny.'

I called Jenny and she said she'd set it up. I walked back to the table and a notification on my phone because Adonis mentioned me on his story.

I got back to the table and the food was there so everyone was digging into their food except Adonis. As soon as I sat down he sighed and said ,'Finally.'

He started eating and I looked at him funny and started eating too. I had only ordered fries but it looked like everyone else had not eaten because they had ordered burgers, nuggets and fries.

We went back home and Jane pulled me back to walk with her and said ,'What happened back there?'

I furrowed my eyebrows at her and she said ,'You and Adonis were fighting?'

My mouth made an O shape and I said ,'You know what happened though.'

We sat on the couch and Nicole came and plopped next to Jane and said ,'What are we talking about?'

Jane turned to Nicole and said ,'The fight she had with Adonis.'

Nicole nodded and pursed her lips and said ,'You guys made up mad fast. The only time Connor and I fight and it's over so soon is when I have to make it up to him if you know what I'm saying.'

We all started giggling and oohed at her. Ben came and sat on the couch too and we all stopped talking. He looked at us and said ,'What are we talking about guys?'

Jane shook her head and said ,'Uhm no.'

He looked at all of us and said ,'Did you guys forget I was apart of this group too.'

We all looked at each other and at the same time said ,'Go away Ben.'

He stood up and put his hands up and said ,'Okay okay I'm leaving.'

I turned to Jane and Nicole and said ,'Well Adonis wanted to know if Zachary was the reason why I didn't want to play and I explained to him and everything. '

Nicole nodded and said ,'When I saw those polaroids I was like this might be it.'

I playfully narrowed my eyes at her and she said ,'No for real. If I saw polaroids of Connor and some girl playing games and taking pictures the way you and Zachary were I would be jealous because you guys looked hella good together. '

Jane nodded and said, 'You guys looked amazing together. You were like goals.'

I put my hands up and stood whilst chuckling and said ,'You guys are exaggerating.'

I went up the stairs and said ,'Good night guys, I love you.'

They said ,'I love you too,' from the doors of their respective bedrooms.

I walked in and Adonis was holding the polaroids again. I walked back out and in the direction of Jane and Nicole's rooms shouted ,'Maybe you guys aren't exaggerating.'

I heard Nicole bursting out laughing and she said ,'Told you so.'

I walked in and Adonis had put the polaroids on the bed. He was lying on the bed looking at the ceiling. He turned to look at me and said ,'I tried to be okay with it because I respect your memories but I cannot help it it's bothering me.'

He sat up and said ,'Should I be worried, like is this a thing?'

I walked towards Adonis and kneeled in front of the bed and held his face and said ,'Baby there is nothing to worry about. I promise, I don't have feelings for him.'

He turned his head to the side and said ,'Okay babe.'

He tried to pull me up from where I was kneeling but I didn't stand up so he carried me. I sat on his lap and he said ,'You are hot, do you know that?'

I bit my bottom lip and said ,'Oh is that so.'

He hummed whilst staring at my bottom lip and said ,'Oh hell yes.'

He put me on the bed and started kissing me and said ,'You have a long night ahead of you.'

As soon as he said that and the way I was feeling I knew that it was going to be a long for sure.
