Chapter 1720
Arielle Moore and Vinson Nightshire
Chapter 1720 Busted Arielle looked back and met Morseâs intent gaze. âThe children are asleep. Iâll just take a walk around the base,â she said calmly. âWhatâs the matter, by the way?â
âAre you really just taking a walk around the base?â Morse looked at her suspiciously. This only happened after she came. It has never occurred before. I wonder if she has anything to do with it.
âYeah. Where else can I go? I canât go out of the base,â Arielle replied gloomily. âI wouldnât have come no matter what if Iâd known the place is so heavily guarded. I canât believe they donât even allow us out.â
Morse suddenly felt uneasy when he saw how remorseful Arielle was. He did not want her to regret coming to the base.
âWell, you can still go out if you want. But youâll have to sneak out with me,â Morse said, narrowing his eyes at her.
They would be severely penalized if someone found out they had left that place, so Morse could not bring her out openly. I think I can stand the physical punishment, but I doubt Ms. Moore can. Her skin is so delicate.
Intrigued, Arielle blinked when she heard Morseâs proposal. Heâs willing to bring me out? Thatâs great.
Well, when that time comes, I just need toâ¦
Her lips quirked up. âWhy, thank you, then. You must show me around when Iâm bored.â
Morseâs heart raced when the woman smiled at him, but he quickly suppressed the feeling he had never felt before. âItâs late. You should get some rest,â he said shortly before leaving in a hurry.
The following evening, Norma and Torsten returned to the base, and the latter rushed to the lab upon arrival.
Morse and the rest wanted to follow him in, but Norma stopped them.
âWe donât need any help at the lab now. You guys can work on something else.â Norma closed the door and walked over to Torsten. But before she reached his side, the professor had already slumped to the ground.
âGone⦠Theyâre all goneâ¦â
Norma panicked when she heard that. How did it even go missing? It was in the safe! Weâre dead if we lose it!
The woman raced to the safe to check if it was intact. The safe and its lock were all undamaged.
Thereâs no sign of a break-in; only Professor Hoffmeister and I have the key, so how did it happen?
Norma turned and asked Torsten about his key.
âWhat do you mean?â the man barked defensively.
Norma felt wronged when he shouted back at her.
âIâm just asking. There are only two keys to the safe, so thereâs no way the thing will go missing,â
Norma said, taking out her key. âThis is mine. Where is yours?â
âItâs with me, of course!â
Torsten had always carried his key. He dug his hand into his pocket to retrieve it. Yet, to his horror, it was nowhere to be found.
âWhere is it? I clearly brought it with me! Why canât I find it?â Torsten got up to take off his clothes to double-check, but Norma stopped him.
âYou donât have to look for the key anymore. Since youâve taken it, thereâs no point in finding the key.
Youâre the person I trust the most in this world, so it doesnât make a difference if the item is in the safe or with you. Iâm fine as long as itâs not in the hands of an outsider.â
I mean, I donât mind you taking it, but why do you have to pretend you didnât take it? This makes me feel uncomfortable. Who do you even take me for?
Torsten was exasperated when he realized what Norma was thinking. What does she mean by since youâve taken it, thereâs no point in finding the key? Did she just say that? I didnât take it!
âNorma, itâs not me!â Torsten roared.
Norma was horrified. âWhat do you mean? Itâs not you?â
