Chapter 398
Arielle Moore and Vinson Nightshire
Obsessed CEO Throws Himself at Me Chapter 398 âA shipping company?â Arielle asked suspiciously, âThe legal owner of that company is behind all this?â
Harvey shook his head and continued, âNo, heâs an average businessman. Something doesnât add up, though. Itâs kind of odd for the legal owner of such a big company to be your average Joe. Anyway, once weâve properly identified the guy, we can continue our investigations.â
âAll right.â Arielle muttered to herself thoughtfully, âA shipping company.â
Shipping companies typically did not come across as glamorous as real estate, luxury goods, or technology giants, but it would be ill-advised to underestimate their profitability. It was also easy for shipping companies to smuggle other items with legitimate cargo.
They were privy to all sorts of intel thanks to their access to ports across the globe.
They couldnât have picked a better front for their operations.
Arielle said coldly, âBy the way, Chanaea strictly forbids the private sales of guns and explosives. But look at me; Iâve encountered two explosions already! They mustâve been able to smuggle those things into Chanaea under the guise of shipping cargo.â
Her guess seemed to remind Harvey of something. He clapped his hands once and said, âI can pull some strings with my friends at customs and get my hands on that companyâs cargo log.â
Arielle voiced her agreement but advised him to act cautiously. âRemember to stay under the radar; we donât want to lose this lead. Weâre dealing with some very cunning enemies.â
Harvey nodded a few times for good measure. âI know. Iâll get in touch with them and discuss our next steps. I wouldâve called them while I was abroad, but I was worried that they mightâve bugged our phones.â
His caution impressed Arielle. âYouâre right. They have some pretty skilled hackers, and we shouldnât drop our guard.â
Soon enough, the four of them arrived at the universityâs cafeteria.
âYou brought us to the cafeteria?â Several moments passed before Harvey realized where they were.
âUh-huh. Do you mind? Iâm kind of strapped for cash these days, so this is all I can afford.â
âOf course not! Why would I mind?â Harvey added hastily, âJust let me know if youâre short on cash.
Whatâs your account number, and how much do you need?â
Arielle rejected his offer immediately. âThank you, but Iâm really okay. I have enough money; I just canât use it too freely at the moment.â
Now that Vinsonâs enemies had their eyes on her, she refrained from accessing her offshore account to protect her identity. Consequently, Arielle only had access to her allowance from Henrick.
It was not a measly sum either, amounting to two million. Still, it was prudent to spend frugally and save the funds for unforeseen emergencies.
Harvey stood by his offer. âJust let me know if you need money.â
She flashed him a grateful smile. âI donât, but thank you for your thought. All right, then, less talking and more eating! Get whatever you want!â
âIâm fine with anything as long as meatâs on the menu! But Jared-â
Harveyâs words had Jared piquing up, âIâm not picky either! Iâm fine with anything!â
Henry stared at his friend in disbelief.
Jared was notorious for being a fussy eater.
âDo you have a crush on Boss?â Henry asked under his breath.
Jared stared at his friend like he was daft. âNo! Thatâs my future sister-in-law, you dumb*ss!â
A look of realization appeared on Henryâs face, and he added loudly, âIâm not fussy with my food either.
Boss, you can just order some food for us to share.â
âAll right, then. Why donât you get yourselves some pasta and grab a seat? Iâll be over soon.â
âPasta?â Henry was confused. âWhereâs the counter?ââ
Arielle pointed at a corner and said, âOver there.â
She froze as soon as the words left her mouth.
Why would I know where the pasta counter is?
