Chapter 911
Arielle Moore and Vinson Nightshire
In Jadeborough Universityâs library archive.
After reading through the files for over an hour, Arielleâs eyes were starting to hurt.
Thus, she stood up and stretched, thinking of buying bread to stop her stomach from growling.
However, just as she stepped out of the library, she heard someone ask the student in front of her, âHello, may I know if Arielleâs in the library?â
Arielle instantly snapped her head toward the source of the voice. It was then she saw two towering men talking to a student with smiles on their faces.
Narrowing her eyes, she began studying the two men.
Although they were wearing casual clothes, something about the way they carried themselves was strange to Arielle.
I sense a murderous intent from them, she realized, feeling startled.
Immediately, she turned to walk back into the library, but in the next second, the student pointed at her and said, âAre you looking for Arielle Moore? Sheâs right there.â
Arielle halted in her tracks. Knowing that she could not hide anymore, she spun around to look into the menâs eyes and questioned, âWho are you? Why are you looking for me?â
Both men were stunned to see her, but they were quick to let a smile return to their lips. âArielle, hereâs the thing. Weâre Mr. Nightshireâs friend, and since Mr. Nightshire helped us out the other time, we were thinking of treating him to a meal as a token of gratitude. However, heâs in Horington right now, so he asked us to come to you instead. Wonât you have a meal with us?â
âIâm sorry; Iâm not free. You should wait for Vinson to meet you himself.â As she spoke, she began walking past them.
However, just as she walked past them, one of the men grabbed her wrist.
âArielle, thereâs no need for such courtesy. If you donât want to have a meal, why donât we treat you to a cup of coffee instead? We really have to express our gratitude to Vinson.â
âHeâs right.â The other man grabbed her other wrist as well. âThereâs no need to be so polite with us, Ms. Moore.â
Arielle did not want to make a move in front of the library. After all, it was a crowded place even though it was a weekend.
Hence, she narrowed her eyes before suddenly beaming at them. âAll right. Letâs go to the cafe opposite the school. However, I have to ask you to let go of me. Youâre holding me too tightly, and youâre hurting me.â
Caught off guard by how easily Arielle had agreed to their request, the two men immediately let go of her.
They, too, did not want to cause a commotion on the school grounds. There were too many people around, and if anything happened, they would easily be caught by the law enforcers.
âMs. Moore, please lead the way.â
One of the men gestured to the front, and Arielle began walking to the school gates.
Soon, they were at the entrance.
At that time of the day, no one was around; only some cars would pass by occasionally.
In seconds, Arielle sensed the changes in their demeanor, so she decided to drop the act as well.
This is a good place. There wonât be any need for me to hold back here.
Coming to a stop, Arielle then turned and glared at them. âSpeak. Who sent you here?â
The smiles on the menâs faces froze then disappeared.
âIt seems like youâre not a complete fool. Since youâve already seen through us, donât bother asking questions and just come with us. Otherwise, weâll have to do this the hard way.â
However, it was as if Arielle had just heard them crack a joke, for she grinned and responded, âJust the two of you? Are you going to come at me together, or are you going to do this one-by-one?â
âPreposterous!â one man shouted as he promptly swung his fist at her.
Arielle nimbly dodged it. At the same time, she grabbed that manâs arm and shifted her foot to throw a kick. Surprised by her agility, the man lost his balance and fell onto his face.
âGrab her!â he screamed furiously.
