Chapter 928
Arielle Moore and Vinson Nightshire
Arielleâs heart skipped a beat. Oh, no. I think Vinsonâs on to me.
She tried her best to calm her nerves but to no avail.
âNothingâs wrong with me,â she finally said, taking a big gulp as she did. âI came to the hospital to visit Teddyâs mother.â
âThatâs all?â
âYes, thatâs all.â
âOkay, then Iâll buy a flight ticket now.â
Arielle instantly reeled back. âWhat? Are you done with work?â
âNo, but I do want to see you. Iâll return to Horington once I know youâre all right.â.
Arielle bit her lips in exasperation. I knew it. Vinsonâs figured out that somethingâs happened to me. I canât hide it from him any longer.
âOkay, okay. Something did happen to me earlier. But Iâve been put on an IV drip, and Iâm fine now.â
âWhat happened?â Vinson asked, his voice low and deep.
Arielle couldnât help but let out a heavy sigh.
Iâve done my darndest, yet I still canât hide anything from Vinson.
âItâs the Greenes⦠Theyâve put a target on me.â
Arielle quickly summarized how the Greenes had sent mercenaries after her and added, âI swear I didnât get hurt at all, so you donât have to make a trip back for me. Besides, Iâve already approached the Specialized Forces. They were very respectful and have also gone along with my plan. Theyâre digging up information on the Greenes as we speak.â
Vinson replied coldly, âI got it. I guess itâd be better to take you with me everywhere I go so others canât take advantage of the situation. As for the Greenes, donât worry about it. Iâll make sure they get what they deserve.â
Anyone who dares mess with my woman is just digging their own graves!
âOkay. By the way, Iâm sorry,â Arielle muttered. âI know I shouldnât have kept this from you, but I was afraid that itâd affect you. Itâs just like the time when you didnât tell me about Turlen. I was so scared that youâd do something rash and put yourself in harmâs way.â
âI know you mean well⦠But Sannie, you have to trust me more. Iâd never put myself in danger. After all, I canât bear the thought of leaving you behind.â
Before Arielle knew it, tears had begun streaming down her face.
She had no idea why she was crying, but hearing Vinsonâs voice greatly comforted her. It was also only with him that Arielle could show her most vulnerable side.
The two of them settled into an easy conversation until Jordanâs shout snapped Arielle back to reality.
âAll right, I wonât hold you up anymore,â she said, clutching her phone tight.
âSure. But the next time something like this happens again, you have to tell me immediately, okay?â
âOkay.â
âGood. Go home and get some rest then. Your health is more important than anything else. But if you really must go to the school archive, please let Blake and Sasha accompany you.â
âI will.â
Alas, Vinson continued to nag so much that he reluctantly hung up the call only when Jordan started to rush them.
He leaned back in his chair as a flash of cold darkness went through his gaze.
The Greenes have gotten too smug with the power they have. Do I not matter? Am I only for show?
Without hesitation, Vinson called for his manager.
âMr. Nightshire, what can I do for you?â
Upon seeing Vinsonâs icy death stare, the manager became sick with fear.
âMâMr. Nightshire? DâDid I do something wrong?â
