Chapter XIX- A Luna Can't Love The Beta!

*Fabian's PoV*

The look on Lydia's face was devastating, I was wondering why would she avoid me like that. I started thinking I did something wrong to hurt her, I didn't know what to do; and she never thought to tell me that it's because she is with someone else, that is a wolf for the looks of it.

"Fabian!" she exclaims but doesn't say anything else.

"Who's he?" I demand, jealous.

"I didn't want this, I swear I want you, but then..." she looks down with her eyes full of tears.

"It's Derek." Vanessa says after a while staring blankly ahead thoughtful.

"How come?" Caleb asks frowning.

"It can't possibly be him. We all know his real condition." Fabian says doubtfully, yet he had to stick to the rational instead of the obvious.

"How many times did he tell you to stay away from her? Because she belongs to him. How did he know where to find her? Because they are mates." Vanessa gets excited in every word she says, not noticing the broken heart she is repeatedly stubbing in front of her. I only start to think back and thinking that I lost her...

Derek will only make her suffer.

We turn to look at Lydia that has her eyes down, she looks at me before looking at the others.

"He bit me after he saw us kissing, he was pretty mad. He attacked me with jealous threats and then..." she swallows dry. "... I ran away, he told all of you it was rogues, but no, they were looking for me. It has been a horrible experience having to dream all these horrible things."

"oh poor thing..." Nessa says stroking Lydia's had, I just stand up, because I have heard enough.

"Fabian, please listen to me."

"For what? you could have told me, so that I could stay away."

"I like you and I don't want anybody else." she says, maybe it was true but the need to stay with her mate would grow over those feelings she says to have for me.

"You can't love the Beta, Luna." I utter honestly bowing before heading out.

I feel someone come behind me and I stop impatiently turning to see Caleb.

"It was better this way; you will find your mate any time soon." Caleb tries to comfort.

"What mate, Caleb?" I demand impatient, he chuckles thinking that I'm joking.

"She is gone." I blurts, Caleb stutters but I don't let him proffer any words. "I didn't just lose my whole family in that fucking world war, I lost my mate even before getting to know her. I felt my body weaken. Felt how helpless she was until she succumbed off life."

Caleb looks at me with exactly that same look I have been avoiding to see ever since. "I'm sorry, man."

"I know you are." I utter before turning on my heels and going away.

*Lydia's PoV*

Fabian storms out of the room after treating me so oddly

Fabian storms out of the room after treating me so oddly. He called me Luna. I don't even know what that means!

"Oh shit, you are our Luna or will be. I don't fucking know, but this is fucking awesome." Vanessa says not minding that nobody else is happy apart from her.

"I don't want to be a Luna." I say honestly.

"You are kidding me. If my brother accepts to take the throne you will be like a queen. Do you know how many would die to be in your shoes?"

"I don't even know what am I doing among shifters. How did I end up here? I don't want to be queen to beasts!" I stand up walking in circles I try to stop the tears from coming.

"Ouch." I hear Nessa complain.

"Do you know how hard it has been?" I demand turning to her. "I can't close my eyes and I start seeing horrible images of a killer and people being killed."

"Oh!" Vanessa looks down. "A lot of things happened, Lydia. We were never an ordinary family even for werewolves. My father killed my mother, his own mate and he wanted to enslave the world. This life we are living here now, is something new that we are learning. Please don't reject him, I beg you. Derek doesn't know what it's love, but you can teach him. You are the best thing that has happened to him ever. His first mate is a bitch that betrayed all of us, he needs this chance. Please, Lydia. Don't grind his heart, because broken it already is." Vanessa begs as I look in her eyes. I don't understand how am I the best thing... I'm as much broken with betrayal and family that wasn't any ordinary and caring...

*Derek's POV*

."Oh my fucking gosh..." I hear someone mutter and that was not Arabella, the woman just resumed herself to looking at me with eyes red in rage.

I turn my head to the door and see there's my sister standing chin dropped.

"This is way too much; I need a moment." Vanessa says and marches inside the study looking at me she sits to the couch with her hand to the chest.

"You will pay for rejecting me, Derek." Arabella murmurs as I look in her cold eyes as much cold.

"Get out of my territory, Arabella. You are not welcome here." I command. "You are casted out."

"I was never part of it, but I promise you, Derek, a very unhappy life. I will be your worst nightmare yet." she says and fuming heads out of the room. I sigh pressing my fist on the desk...

"Don't you know how to knock on the door?" I demand looking straight at my sister that looks at the scene chain dropped.

"You rejected her!" she questions with a smile on the corner of her mouth. I nod impatiently and she basically jumps of so happy. "Everything is finally falling into place. Tha fuck you are walking, you found a new mate and rejected the bitch witch..." Vanessa starts the blurb making Derek roll his eyes with an impatient look on his face, she commemorates. "You are the real MVP; you just need to take that throne." she suggests breaking the climate for good.

" No!" I say singly

" No!" I say singly. "Nessa, you know what I think of this, it's a no. That chair has cause much more problems than it has solved."

"It only depends on who's riding the throne." Nessa tries but i shake my head refusing to hear to it.

"Then the council should choose someone else. There are many competent Alphas out there, that would fit better for the throne." I say making her see that it was out of question.

"Ok, I'm not going to pressure you, but this is motive for a party. *shake my head negatively* please, your pack will be so much happy to see you walking. We will be a normal pack, you can try the pack link, you have your wolf back, damn it." Vanessa sounds more excited than me, I keep my emotions inside, they are better there.

"You and your small groupie are going to the dungeons." I announce.

"I will do that with much pleasure, Alpha. After the party tomorrow night." Vanessa hugs me tightly. I just hold her in n embrace to. She's crazy but I have no other family. I can't believe that in few days she will be somebody's wife. She was going wherever I went I doing whatever I did, so small, and now she's here, disobeying me every second.

"I hate you."

"I love you too." she moves back and looks at me.

"Of course, who wouldn't.-"

"-your mate." she tells me with an apologetic grin. "You gotta work to win her heart." she winks before heading out of the study...
