Chapter 1.2
Dragonblood - The Arrival
Chapter 1.2
Snorting, he simply pulled her up and held her tightly so she wouldn't fall to the floor. First, Rei untied her wrist cuffs before pulling off her coat.
He knew that one could get very hot when wearing these thick coats. However, here on the island, they were necessary if you didn't plan on freezing to death.
"Get a grip," Rei drove at her.
The man with blue hair barely got a reaction, and her body hung limply against him. Still, it could be seen that she was trying to open her eyes. Her eyelids were fluttering, and her breathing was also very frantic while her body was trembling.
Since he was familiar with these side effects of the transformation process, he did not go into it. She had to deal with that. He could not help her with that. Every woman who was chosen had to go through these phases. If they made it to that point.
Energetically, Rei pushed her ahead of him towards the stairs that led to the castle's upper floor. To reach this, one could use the stairs that led off to the entrance hall's left and right. These led to two different areas of the castle.
There were pictures of ancestors and other dragons hanging on the walls everywhere, which gave it a friendly feel. There was also a comfortable-looking sofa. This was on the right side under the stairs. There wasn't much to see here, except that a few more doors led off the entrance hall.
A crystal chandelier hung from the ceiling, bathing the otherwise bare-looking entrance hall in bright but warm light.
Quinn, who had expected at least some assistance, tried to steady her breathing again and stumbled more badly than she could in front of the dragon.
She had hoped that they would treat her differently here. Perhaps helped her through the transformation. She had been mistaken. As if he had no experience with it and would not know that she could die at any time, she did not get enough air or the like if she fell unhappily.
The other women had told her. Often the dragons were also the reason that the women did not survive. Because they did not know how to take care of them.
I wonder how many women had died here or were still alive? It was quiet in the castle, and only the wind sweeping around the building walls could be heard. It sounded as if it wanted to tear down the walls with all its might. The snow was even carried up to here in some wind gusts and collected the windows decorated with ice flowers.
From what Rei had heard, Quinn was challenging but also stubborn. The stone dragon had told of the two escape attempts, which proved to him that she was different from most women.
Did she actually know where she was? He would not tell her. At least not yet. It was better if he got to know her a little first before giving her any more reason to try to escape.
Relentlessly, he pushed Quinn in front of him but was careful not to trip her. His grip on her did not soften, for he still expected resistance.
The path went past a lot of doors, almost all of which looked the same. How should she be able to find her way around here? Up here on the upper floor, the hallway was bathed in a warmer light, and it was not as glaring as in the entrance hall.
Here, too, many pictures had found a place on the walls of the castle. These were probably the only ones that gave the gray walls something friendlier.
Suddenly Rei, who had not uttered a word until then, stopped in front of a door.
"This is your room. The bathroom is at the end of the hall," he explained succinctly while opening the door at the same time.
Behind it was a room that at first glance seemed bleak. Only until he turned on the light and the true extent became visible. To do this, he pressed a transparent stone that was placed next to the door. Now the stone began to glow, like the other one that was in the ceiling. As a result, the room was enveloped in soft, warm light. The barred windows were frozen shut and only let in sunlight in some places because of the snow, but that didn't bother them now. It was bright enough.
A large, soft, and cozy-looking bed stood against one of the walls. It was just calling out to lie down and sleep. At the foot of the bed stood an old-looking chest, of which one did not know whether it was only there for decoration or contained something.
On the side, the opposite was a closet, which offered plenty of space for numerous clothes. But there was also a table and chairs. So one could write and had not only the bed as a seat available.
There was also a fireplace that still had embers from the last fire.
The room looked like it had been in regular use. Quinn could not have guessed that Rei had made his own space available and had moved into another room with only a narrow bed and a chest for his clothes. Any comfort was missing there.
There were not many rooms in the castle that were furnished like his former bed chamber. It had been the most beautiful of all. It was also one of the few rooms used.
Since women were considered sacred and precious, he had refrained from taking them to one of the small, uncomfortable rooms. As far as he knew, the transformations were not very pleasant, which is why, in his opinion, she should at least have a comfortable bed and a nice room.
Before Quinn slowly entered, she took off her shoes at the door, not wanting to get the carpet dirty. Even though it was warm, she was still shivering as she looked around. She felt so miserable that all she really wanted to do was lie down. At the same time, she got the feeling that it was very different here from where she had already been.
Swallowing, she gathered her courage and moistened her lips. "Are you going to lock me in that room?" she asked, simply because she was panic-stricken about it. That was also the reason for both of her escape attempts. She needed the feeling of being able to move freely. Otherwise, she would feel even worse. Here, at least, she hoped, she had a room at her disposal.
"As long as you don't try to escape, you can move around almost freely. The basement is off-limits to you because it's none of your business," Rei replied seriously. "If you dare to attack my men or make a ridiculous attempt to escape, I will lock you up. Understood?"
Rei's voice didn't sound like he was joking. It seemed cold and arrogant. It was a voice that betrayed that he would crackdown.
"Your men?" she asked less than enthusiastically, though she tried not to show fear. It wasn't that she had problems with men, but on the island she had been on before, there had been almost only women. Only the dragon and some of his sons had been at home there. She had assumed it was that way with all dragons. Men were much more dangerous than women. The more there were here, the harder she would have it.
"Yes, my men," Rei replied gruffly. At the same time, he pushed her into the room and put her shoes down on a small rug next to the door.
I wonder if he should tell her that some men made sure it was clean and cooked, too. From the way Quinn sounded, she probably wouldn't believe it. But he didn't really care. She wasn't here to take a vacation but to make the transformation and be tamed.
However, he had to admit that she was much more sociable so far than he had assumed. "Are there any other rules?" she asked, glancing at the ground.
She wanted to know what was coming and what to watch out for as she explored the castle, looking for a way to escape. Despite the weather outside, she would not give up.
Rei came quite close to her and looked very intimidating as he looked at her coldly from above. "You don't steal anything or do anything wrong. Should you try to escape, you will meet me from the unpleasant side. Stick to what I tell you, and you'll have little trouble," Rei explained in a clear voice that could send a shiver down your spine and did so with Quinn. His ice-cold breath brushed her face.
Quinn couldn't help it and pulled her head in. At the same time, however, resistance stirred in her, which she tried to suppress. It was better if she played the quiet one at first until this man stopped focusing on her so much.
At the moment, he was too focused on her, which was why she would not get a chance to escape.
The young woman swallowed again. "Are there regular times?" she asked, not really wanting to know. She was also concerned about her meal times, but she also requested because of the transformation. She had been told that she had two more phases to go, and she was panicking about that. Quinn knew she wouldn't get around it, though, so she wanted to know when he planned to start those. She didn't dare ask him directly, though.
