Mafia Kings: Roberto: Chapter 24
Mafia Kings: Roberto: Dark Mafia Romance Series #5
âIwas 20 years old and still a virgin. I was shy and withdrawn â a late bloomer. I didnât really connect with girls my own age.
âMy brother Adriano was only a year older than me, but he had worlds more experience. Heâd lost his virginity when he was 14, and by 21, heâd been with a lot of women.
âHe got it into his head that he was going to âhelpâ me by taking me to a brothel in Florence. My oldest brother, Dario, didnât know anything about it, or he probably would have stopped us. I told my twin brother Niccolo â â
âYou have a twin?â Mei-ling asked in surprise.
âI do. Weâre fraternal twins, not identical.â
âIs he a lot like you?â
âIn appearance, yes. In everything else, not at all.â
âSorry for interrupting. Please continue.â
âI told Niccolo, but he was no help at all. Heâd already slept with his first girlfriend when he was 16, and heâd been with several others since then. He advised me to go ahead and âget it over with.â So I went with Adriano to the place he knew about.â
I didnât mention that the brothel was run by the Agrellas â business partners of my family who ran all the prostitution, gambling, and drugs in Florence.
I also didnât mention that the Agrellas had been massacred just a month ago by a Sicilian named Mezzasalma who had tried to kill Adriano, too.
âThe brothel was in this ancient building in the old part of the city. From the outside, it looked like something youâd see on an architectural tour. Very dignified. On the inside, though, it was all velvet wall hangings and tacky paintings.
âAnyway, Adriano and I went to the bar and had a drink as I tried to get over my nervousness.
âOne by one, women came up to us, all of them dressed in lingerie. They tried flirting with Adriano first, but he kept pointing at me and saying, âWeâre here for him.â
âThey tried to flirt with me, but I was spectacularly bad at it. Very awkward. After a few minutes, one girl left, another walked up, and the whole process started over again. It was excruciating.
âHalf an hour after weâd arrived, the madam took me and Adriano into a parlor where all the girls came out and stood in a line.
âThe madam asked, âWhich one do you like the most?â
âAnd I said, âIâm good.â
ââYouâre âgoodâ?â the madam asked, confused.
ââIâm good,â I confirmed.
âAll the girls shuffled out, and Adriano was pissed. âI brought you all the way out here, and youâre not even going to sleep with any of them?! What the hell is wrong with you?!â
âHe told me not to leave the brothel till Iâd popped my cherry, and then he stormed out â because, as he informed me, he didnât have to pay for sex. Unlike me.
âI went back to the bar for another drink. I was miserable. I felt like an utter and complete failure.
âAs I was sitting there, I saw a woman sitting at a table at the far end of the room, smoking and having a drink all by herself.
âShe wasnât one of the girls who had come up to me earlier, and she wasnât in the line-up, either. She was wearing lingerie, so she obviously worked there, but I hadnât seen her before.
âShe looked over at me and smiled shyly, then looked away.
âI was intrigued, so I walked over to her table and asked, âMay I join you?â
âShe smiled and said, âYes,â so I sat down.
ââRoberto,â I said as I shook her hand.
ââVittoria,â she replied.
âShe was older than the other women, who were all in their early to mid-20âs. Vittoria looked like she was 30, maybe older. She wasnât quite as pretty as the others, but something about her drew me in.
ââI didnât see you before,â I said.
âShe smiled. âI know.â
ââWhy not? Were you with a customer?â
ââNo.â
ââSo why didnât I see you?â
ââI saw how uncomfortable all the other girls were making you. I didnât want to be like them, so I hung back.â
ââI wasnât uncomfortable,â I lied.
âShe just smiled and said âOhâ like she was agreeing with me.
ââWhat makes you think I was uncomfortable?â I asked.â
I added as an aside to Mei-ling, âOther than the fact I was so uncomfortable that a blind man could have spotted it.â
Mei-ling smiled but stayed silent, waiting to hear the rest.
âIâll never forget her response. She looked me in the eyes and said, âWhatever youâre looking for, the other girls didnât have it, and you felt bad about telling them they didnât interest you.â
âWhich was a very charitable way of describing it â but it was true. The girls had all been very pretty, but I wasnât attracted to any of them. Not to mention, I was under an enormous amount of pressure from Adriano. I felt like I HAD to choose one of them, and I hated the entire situation.
âI asked Vittoria as though I was challenging her, âSo what am I looking for?â
âAnd she said, âI donât know, exactly⦠but what I do know is, for something to interest you, you have to go and take it.â
âI didnât fully understand what she meant at the time, but what she said felt right. All those women had come up to me, pressuring me to choose them⦠offering themselves up on a silver platter⦠and it made me not want them. It was too easy. It was fake.
âI knew I wanted Vittoria⦠but I didnât know why, exactly.
âShe asked me, âDo you know what you want?â
âI sat there staring at her, wanting to say it out loud, but I was too shy. I was blushing so hard that my cheeks felt like they were on fire.
âShe smiled at me and whispered, âYou can say it.â
âAnd I blurted out, âI want to make you come.ââ
Mei-ling reared back in surprise, then started laughing.
âI know,â I said with a smile. âBut Vittoria didnât laugh. She just said, âThat sounds wonderful.â
âAnd I said, âBut I donât know how.â
âAnd she replied, âYou want to make me come⦠but not knowing how makes you feel embarrassed. Is that it?â
âI nodded. I still remember it â my face felt like it was on fire, I was so ashamed â but I was also incredibly turned on.
âShe took my hand in hers and asked quietly, âDo you want me to show you how to make a woman come?â
âI nodded. âBut I donât want you to lie. I donât want you to fake it.â
âShe smiled and said, âDonât worry, I wonât. But it might take a while.â
ââIâve got all night.â
ââSo do I,â she answered.
âShe stood up and tried to pull me along with her, but I said, âNot here. I donât want to do it here.â
âShe looked at me for a long while, like she was trying to decide whether or not to trust me⦠and then she finally said, âI can take you to where I live⦠but I have to warn you, itâs not that great.â
ââI donât care,â I told her. âJust as long as itâs anywhere but here.â
âShe nodded, and then we left and went to her place.â
Mei-ling stared at me intently, waiting.
I just smiled at her in silence.
When I didnât say anything, Mei-ling prodded me with, ââ¦AND?!â
âAnd she taught me everything I know.â
âOh my GOD â youâre not going to tell me?!â she cried out, half-laughing, half-indignant.
âNope.â
âYou tease!â
âJust a little,â I said with a grin. âBut I will do something for you.â
âWhat?â she asked, pouting playfully.
âIâll show you.â
Mei-ling stared at me, her eyes wide.
For a second, I thought perhaps Iâd overstepped â
And then she whispered, ââ¦alright.â
I smiled. âAlright, then.â
I extended my handâ¦
She placed hers in mineâ¦
And then she led me out of the kitchen.
