future queen and disagreements*26*
MY DESTINED ZULU BRIDE
A few days after princess Zethu was born she was finally presented to our people, of course it was not truly presenting her as they could not gaze apon her for a few months.
They were only told her name and how she was the future queen after me. This was met with great resistance from our people.
They all argued that a woman could not rule and that we should have a son to reign after me. As it was well known only men ruled for ages and were quite revered.
This displeased me and my family as we had no such beliefs, their current and future queen were male and they still had a problem with a woman leading them?
Simply absurd, negative energy seemed to spread around as everyone simply could not accept what fate had ordained.
"Prince we urge you to change your mind, a woman simply can't rule over us" a villager said with a frown with others echoing his words.
"Why is that?" I asked truly curious to hear his response, "she is a weak woman with little to no intelligence, she can be a princess but a ruler she must not become" I was astonished by the utter nonsense he was spouting.
"By your words I can assure you she will be far more intelligent than you, your ignorance shows and it will do you no good" I replied calmly.
"She was chosen by fate and fate is something a mere mortal like yourself can't fight against" he glared at me.
"I'm simply telling you the truth, you are just a child and don't know any better, a woman cannot rule" he emphasised now upset.
"A moron should be quite yet here you are spouting nonsense" a voice said making us all look at Joy who entered the premises.
"Why are you silent now?Speak and tell how low of a creation is a woman" Joy urged the man walking closer to him making the man take steps back.
"She will rule after her father or I will destroy who ever tries to take her place, she is blessed like no other and her true strength shall show" he said looking straight at the man.
"Until then you and others like yourself should simply sit back and look pretty because one more negative word about her and..." He left the words hanging as he smirked.
He raised his hand a bit when Thando spoke "Lekhune" Joy turned to look at him, "You are ruining my fun you know, I was just going to show him a snippet of what I was talking about".
Thando just looked at him and Joy sighed walking to him, he stood beside Thando and looked at everyone around us. "Does anyone object?" They all shook their heads.
I looked at him in wonder, my brother seemed so mysterious, I wondered why they were so fearful of him.
I felt truly disconnected from my own younger brother, he looked at me and smiled. "In me you have an ally brother be happy" I looked at everyone. "You all may head home" they bowed and walked away quietly, It was so strange.
I entered the house and saw my beautiful queen sitting on the bed playing with our little princess. "How did they take the news?" He asked now gazing me, "as expected" Lolo smiled at that.
"A bunch of ignorant fools" my eyes widened at his words, he was never one to truly filter his words. "I don't need their permission anyway, my little girl will sit on that throne and no one will stand in her way, that is a promise" he looked determined and I knew his words rang with truth.
"A queen of the Zulu was born as it is her destiny and just like it led us to be one so shall it stand firm with her" I nodded and embraced him.
"As my queen says" he smiled at me, " you know Ukhanyo I love you very much" he said making my heart flutter, I claimed his lips softly "and I love you very much Olwethu my queen".
Our people truly found it hard to accept what was to be but non uttered a word of disapproval anymore as they knew it would fall on deaf ears.
My family fully supportted the notion of their future queen, Joy being the biggest advocate.
Joy sat down Infront of the stream as the water glowed with the sun's shine. I walked up to him and sat beside him, "why are you alone here?" I asked him as he was usually with Thando.
"To calm my mind" I nodded, "I noticed we just ain't that close anymore, what truly happened?" I asked him truly curious.
How had we gotten so far apart to the point I felt like I knew nothing about him. Joy turned to me "we are not far as we were never close to begin with" his words confused me.
I remembered when we were kids we used to play together and do a lot things together, why did he say we were never close.
"From a young age you had your life already planned, you had a gift through mocked they never truly hated you" he looked at the river once again.
"They saw what you could become and they admired that, you had a destined to be your beloved, you had our parents running to protect you from the wind and rain" he smiled a bit though it seemed melancholy.
"You had nature that talks to you so you were never lonely and you had me protecting you from the shadows, you had allys even spiritual ones" he said looking at me again.
"With everything being on you tell me brother were does that leave me?" His question struck something in me, something I never thought was there.
It was guilt, yes it was true, though I played with him it was only partimes, most of the time I was stuck trying to woe Lolo, the other times I was trying to prove myself to our people.
I guess I just thought since he had Thando he would not need me, "I'm sorry" I apologised sincerely. "No need for that I understand" I looked at him and sighed.
"Is there a way to mend what was broken?" I questioned him "just be there when I need you, that's enough" I nodded and smiled at him.
I looked at the river and a naughty idea hit me, I scooped a bit of water with my hands and plashed it on his face.
He gasped and glared at me, I held my breath thinking he was upset but then I felt water plashed on my face and he laughed making me laugh.
So like that we plashed each other as if we were young children again, just the two of us.
