In the yakitori bar âSavageââ
âI was told that this was a âcheer-upâ meetingâ¦â said Isuzu. ââ¦but why are there only 4 people?â
The only ones sharing the table were Isuzu, Moffle, Macaron, and Tiramie.
âI invited the others, but they didnât show up, fumoâ¦â
âMoffle, youâre surprisingly unpopular, ron.â
âIt looks like socializing after work is going out of style these days, mi. We donât even get overtime allowances.â
âWell, itâs okay, fumo. At any rate, good work today. Cheersâ¦â
The four of them gave a toast that severely lacked in energy. Isuzuâs glass naturally clinked with Moffleâs and Tiramieâs, but somehow missed the mark with Macaron who was sitting diagonally to her right. It certainly wasnât something that warranted another try, but carrying on seemed a little disrespectful too.
ââ¦â
It was during that awkward moment when Isuzu realized that she didnât really had a close relationship with the 3 of them.
The three mascots gulped down their beer and hoppy and heaved in satisfaction. On the other hand, Isuzu only had some Oolong tea, so she drank in an appropriate manner.
ââ¦So Macaron, howâs the lawsuit going, mi?â
âIt seems like theyâll allow me to defer the payments, ron. But my daughterâs studying in a private school, so the expenses are going to be heavy.â
From the side, Moffle looked at Macaron who answered feebly.
âLike I said, you should stop wasting your money on that woman, fumo. Spending money on that ex-idol wonât end well for you.â
âIâve heard that many times, ron.â
Macaronâs reply concealed regret and sadness.
âBut you see, back then when we married, she was the world to me, ronâ¦â
âMarriage is the death of man, fumo,â Moffle stated, seemingly confident in himself.
From Isuzuâs knowledge, Moffle should never have been marriedâ¦but it could have just been an old proverb.
âShe must have planned it all along, fumo. Itâs the manâs fault for not noticing it earlier.â
âSeconded, mi. Youâll make no progress if you keep this up. Hereâs my quote: âthink of all hot babes as bitchesâ!â
Hearing Tiramieâs insensitive remarks, Macaron stood up.
âYouâre saying my ex-wifeâs a bitch, ron!?â
âButâ¦isnât that true, mi? Doesnât she already have another husband?â
âYeah, wellâ¦thatâs true butâ¦â
âShe didnât even seem like a virgin when you married her, mi. Moffle also told me he was worried for your sake.â
âS-She did tell me that she fooled around once, which shocked me back then butâ¦stopâ¦just stop, ron!â
Macaron wrapped his arms around his head and Moffle smoked on a cigarette.
âWell, donât worry too much about her past, fumo. Itâs a manâs job to accept and embrace her for who she is.â
âNever knew you could say thoughtful things, mi!â
âHappens when youâve lived enough of life, fumo. Youâll eventually get to a point where such things donât even seem bad anymore.â
âSaying such profound words ainât helping, ron!â
Just what would the guests think of the cast members if they heard such conversations? In an attempt to steer off the topic, Isuzu cleared her throat, âSoâ¦is this what you call a âcheering-up meetingâ? Iâd expected things to go livelier; I must say Iâm somewhat disappointed.â
Hearing that, the 3 mascots gave a âmy, myâ¦â expression.
âYouâre so outright, fumo.â
âItâs just some light catching up before the main topic, ron.â
âItâd be great if you would show us some concern, mi,â said the 3 of them.
âThat being said, this isnât really something we should discuss, anyway. More importantly, Iâd like to hear more about him, mi.â
âAh, so do I, ron.â
âHim?â
âKanie Seiya, ron.â
âYeah!â
Tiramie laughed and tried to mimic Seiyaâs expression. He tried giving a stern face and made his mouth the shape of a âã¸â. Of course, it didnât resemble him one bit.
âSo tell us, Isuzu-chan, what do you think about him? Does he match your preferences, mi?â
âI donât understand the meaning behind your question.â
âYouâre the one who gets to be by Seiyaâs side all the time, mi. Itâs also obvious that youâre covering a lot of things for himâ¦this is very fishy indeed.â
âIâm just doing my job. Thatâs nothing more than assisting him in his duties.â
Hearing that, the 3 instinctively narrowed their eyes in suspicion.
âEven then, we wanna know if heâs your type or not, mi.â
âTell us the truth, ron.â
âSpill the beans, we wonât tell anyone, fumo.â
How ill-mannered of them. I donât even know how theyâd interpret whatever I say, and thereâs sure to be a misunderstanding if he hears about this. This is bad in more ways than one.
ââ¦Iâm leaving.â
Isuzu stood up and the mascots watched closely.
âOh my, running away, fumo?â
âIs that a yes? Does that mean heâs your type, ron?â
âI heard you stayed at Seiyaâs house for a night, mi. You guys must have done something, eh?â
ââ¦Iâll slaughter the 3 of you.â
Isuzu shot the mascots one at a time, with precision such that it didnât stir a ruckus in the shop. Leaving the 3 of them writhing in pain, she made her way out of the yakitori bar.
