Chapter 37
Infidelity: His Regret, My Revenge – A Twisted Love Story You Can't Ignore
Chapter 37 Menu At the same time, in Chicago...
Sherry had arranged to meet Julian at her law firm. The night outside the office was dark. It had rained all day in Chicago, the temperature plummeting, the sky heavy with clouds, the city shrouded in a gray gloom.
Julian, impeccably dressed in a dark gray suit, his hair perfectly styled, cleanâshaven, his handsome features still striking, but with a suppressed, somber aura. He was still the arrogant and domineering Young Master Shaw, as if the man whoâd sobbed uncontrollably yesterday wasnât him.
âI thought youâd be more upset for a few days. At least put on a show,â Sherry said sarcastically.âBut itâs fine. The sooner you calm down, the sooner you finish the process. Itâs all for the best.â She pushed the divorce papers across the desk.
Julian calmly picked up the papers, flipping to the last page, seeing his signature. The date was a month ago, when heâd returned from a business trip to Switzerland. He remembered Sherry having him sign a pile of documents that day. Sheâd been calm, smiling as he signed.
âThe coolingâoff period is over. Once Olivia returns, you can go to the civil affairs bureau and finalize the divorce. This marriage will be over,â Sherry said.
âAs for the compensation Olivia and your mother agreed upon, Olivia said if you want to drag this out, sheâs happy to play along.
Your little mistress has provided ample evidence of your infidelity. You donât want another charity gala scandal, do you?â
Julianâs fingers tightened, crushing the divorce agreement into a crumpled mess.âWhen... when did she find out?â His voice was hoarse and pained, as if poisoned.
Sherryâs barrage of questions exposed every detail of Julianâs infidelity, and the hurt and pain Olivia endured. She spoke of Olivia selling everything they owned together, including their wedding rings and photos, to completely let go.
âSheâs firm and resolute,â Sherry said finally.âShe wonât turn back. If you really feel guilty, finalize the divorce, give her the compensation. Itâs the least you can do to give your eight years together a semblance of dignity.â
Julian bent over, the pain in his heart almost crushing him. He tore the divorce agreement to shreds.âI wonât get a divorce. Who says I donât love her! I love her, I love her, I love her!â
