“What’s going on here?!”

Just as Derek was about to speak, a sharp voice echoed from the doorway–Zoey, with Ann Maxwell trailing behind him.

Evan turned, his eyes flashing. Zoey instantly hid behind Ann Maxwell.

Julian’s anger intensified. He pointed at Zoey. “Drag him out. Beat him until he talks!*

Zoey fled, several people chasing after him. Ann Maxwell was bewildered. Zach explained that Olivia was Evan’s...“wife.”

Ann Maxwell was shocked, her pent–up emotions turning to confusion.

Zoey was caught, but then a group of local thugs burst in, their leader yelling “Uncle!” demanding his release.

In the ensuing chaos, Derek was dragged out of the meeting room. Zach asked Evan whether they should intervene. Evan gave him a look, and Zach sent out an order.

Julian chased after them. The meeting room fell silent.

Zoey, clutching his side, cursed. Someone rushed to pull a chair for him, and he sat down with an air of entitlement. Evan remained calm, silent, but his gaze was condescending, his frequent smiles making Zoey squirm Zoey nervously stood.“Mr. President, please, have a seat. You should sit.”

“Vice President Zhu, you have quite the reputation. I think we should change the name of this branch office,” Evan said nonchalantly, tapping the table emphatically. “From Jones to Zhu!”

Zoey’s legs gave way.

Evan sat.“Where is Ms. Frost? You ordered Derek to take her where?”

Zoey took a deep breath, his face hardening. “Mr. President, this has nothing to do with me! You can’t just accuse people!”
