Chapter Fifteen: Dining With Royals

“How much longer do you think it will be before Brody comes to get us?” Sarah grumbled. “I’m sure it will be anytime I know you are hungry.” Bianca smiled as she braided Hope’s hair.

“We have been out here in these beautiful gardens for at least two hours now aren’t even the slightest bit curious as to why it is taking so long?” Sarah asked wrapping a flower tiara around Hope’s head.

“I am curious but I’m sure Brody has everything under control he probably had to explain to his father some details that he didn’t want us in there for I’m sure everything will be fine.” Bianca smiled hiding her true feelings.

She was worried to death she had expected Brody back a long time ago but the longer they waited for him the more she began to get the feeling him and his father were fighting over her and Hope.

She didn’t want to come between Brody and his family she knew what it was like to be shunned by your family because of actions that she didn’t have control over which was exactly what her and Brody were going through granted they mated by choice but it was only natural for mates to do that it was part of their natural instinct.

Bianca decided to remove the block she had put up to hide her fears from Brody hoping that he would sense her distress and come outside to reassure her. To her surprise he never came out so she tried to see what he was feeling but he was blocked from her which made her feel even more uneasy about everything.

Just as she was about to head towards the castle Brody and his father came walking out laughing and carrying on as father and son should. Her fears instantly faded and she was overwhelmed with the happiness Brody was feeling.

Brody nodded the ok so Bianca let Hope run to him while her and Sarah followed. “Daddy, daddy, look what mommy and Auntie Sarah did.” Hope beamed bowing her head so he could see her freshly braided hair and flower crown.

“That is pretty I think they did an outstanding job sweetheart.” He smiled pulling her into his arms. “I had to do something to pass the time.” Bianca smiled as Brody proudly put his arm around her.

“Yes and no worries your majesty I made sure to use the flowers that were close to dying that way it wouldn’t hurt any of your magnificent plants.” Sarah said bowing her head.

“No worries my dear I’m sure a fairy such as yourself took great care with them.” He smiled as she straightened back up. She smiled at him and stood beside Bianca but a little behind her knowing that was only proper since Brody was getting ready to introduce her to his father.

“You must be the lovely Bianca that seems to have my son mesmerized.” The king said kissing her hand. “Yes sir and it is definitely an honor to be meeting you.” Bianca replied bowing her head.

“No need for formalities we are family my dear.” The king smiled at her. “Thank you sir for accepting my daughter and I even with the circumstances the way they are.” Bianca smiled.

“Yes and speaking of daughter who is the beautiful ray of sunshine my son is holding?” The king asked playfully as he approached Hope. She tightened her hold on Brody’s neck and buried her face in his neck.

“Don’t be shy princess this he is your grandfather.” Brody said nuzzling Hope. She still wouldn’t budge. “It seems she may be scared of me.” The king said acting as if he was a little hurt.

“She is a little shy at first but I’m sure once she gets to know you she will come around.” Bianca smiled. “I hope so because I’d hate to think my own granddaughter fears me.” He smiled patting Hope on the back causing her to move away from him.

“I’m sure she will come around father.” Brody smiled as he began to be curious why Hope was acting so strangely. “She will, I’m sure of it with the long car ride and everything she is just out of sorts.” Bianca added.

“I had my chef make an incredible dinner in honor of you guys so why don’t we head inside and get cleaned up for dinner?” the king said motioning for everyone to walk towards the door.

Bianca and Brody took Hope up to their room so they could all get cleaned up and change clothes. Sarah was ushered to the room across the hall from theirs. She was in awe of her room so much that she ran to her bed and began jumping on it like a little kid.

She couldn’t help but let her true fairy side come out which usually made her act a little immature but that was the fairy nature to enjoy every aspect of life. She had finally stopped jumping and decided to take a shower.

When she walked out of the shower to get dressed she froze in her tracks. “What are you doing in my room?” Damien boomed. “I was told this was the room I was to stay in while we were here.” She said staring at the angry wolf in front of her.

Damien felt something strange happening within him as he stared at the fairy halfling in front of him. His wolf was trying to tell him something but he just couldn’t put his finger on it. So he ignored his wolf.

“I don’t know why they told you that because I am going to be staying in this room so you will need to find a different one.” He snarled at her. Sarah just stared blankly at him as she felt her cheeks begin to get warm.

She knew who he was and also knew she found him to be very attractive no matter how hard he tried to be mean, she knew there was more than meets the eye with him. “I’m sorry would you mind letting me get dressed before kicking me out?” she blushed holding her towel tighter around her body.

“Of course that is fine I am going to shower I’ll make sure to give you enough time to get dressed.” He said walking past her to the bathroom. She inhaled his scent as he walked by and it seemed to drive her senses wild.

“I can’t believe how beautiful these dresses are.” Bianca said as her and Hope twirled in their gowns Brody gave them to wear. “Only the best for my ladies.” He smiled as he watched them dancing around.

“So is this the proper way to dress when having dinner with the king?” Bianca laughed hugging him. “Not every dinner but for the important ones it is.” He smiled. He heard a growl coming from Damien’s room causing him to open up his mind link.

“Damien, are you in your room?” he asked his brother sensing he was near. “Yes I am and that fairy friend of your mate is standing before me in nothing but a towel.” Damien smirked.

“Be nice brother I know how you can be towards any creature that has been born half human.” Brody warned. “You have my word but I have to admit for being part human she is quite stunning.” Damien replied with a hint of attraction.

“Could it be my loner brother has found his mate?” Brody teased him. “Not even possible and if she were my mate I would refuse her you know I would never be with a halfling.” Damien snarled at him.

“Settle down I was just teasing you I think you should open yourself up more and be more open minded about such things and you may just end up finding your mate.” Brody laughed.

“I will leave all the mate stuff to you dear brother so if you could keep this just between you and I, I don’t need anyone thinking I’ve gone soft for a female.” Damien said. “You have my word little brother.” Brody answered closing off his mind blocking out everyone except who he wanted to let in.

Brody escorted Bianca, Hope and Sarah down the spiraling staircase to the very large dining room. He pulled a chair out for Sarah which just so happened to be next to Damien. He gave Damien a little wink causing Damien to snarl under his breath.

Then he pulled out a chair for Bianca showing her where to sit as he pushed her back in he pulled out the chair beside her placing Hope between her and Sarah. Then he took his seat on the other side of her.

“So I see you decided to follow my lead and visit father during our little break.” he said shooting a smile towards the twins. “Yep we figured it would be a great chance to meet the future queen and our niece.” Lance replied.

“Yea because it seems you like to keep them all to yourself back home.” Travis added. “I’m sorry guys it just wasn’t right to let all of you meet them before father.” Brody replied. “We see Bianca everyday at school so technically we’ve already met her you knuckleheads.” Damien smiled.

That started a brotherly argument between Damien and the twins causing everyone to sit back and laugh as they went back and forth. “It is good to hear the chaos in the castle again I have missed having you all home at the same time.” The king said standing at the head of the table.

Everyone froze and stood up showing him respect until he motioned for them to sit. Bianca was amazed by all the food they had brought out to the table especially the special plate they had made for Hope holding all her favorites.

“Thank you so much for the wonderful meal.” Bianca smiled at the king. “Only the best for the ladies of the family.” The king grinned. “Yes it has been awhile since we had any females in the castle to dote on.” Brody smiled.

“You’re right my son it is has been far too long since your mother and sister were taken from us.” The king said trying to smile. That’s when Bianca realized Brody hadn’t ever really mentioned his mother and she had no clue he even had a sister. She got the feeling it was a very sensitive subject among Brody and his brothers so she knew when he was ready he would tell her about them.

They enjoyed their dinner as they all laughed and told stories about Brody as he was growing up. Sarah had decided to tell a few stories of Bianca as well which added to the laughter. They all looked like one big happy family to anyone who would have stumbled upon them.

Something sinister was brewing that would be changing some of their lives forever. Only one person truly knew what was going to happen but he was the best at keeping secrets as would anyone if they were the king.
