Chapter Two: Second Guessing

The Banished Wolf {COMPLETED}

Chapter Two: Second Guessing

A few weeks had gone by since the first day she had met Brody she knew he was different than any other wolf she had ever met but she couldn’t quite figure out why. No matter how hard she tried to keep him out of her thoughts she failed.

Tomorrow was going to be her first day back to school after a two week vacation between semesters. She had enjoyed the two weeks without school because she was able to work lots of overtime and get caught up on her bills and save some money for the upcoming move.

She was still planning on leaving state with Hope in fact nothing was going to change her mind she knew this had to be done to give her daughter the life she deserved. Today was her last day of working overtime before going back to her regular routine, splitting her day between work and school.

Bianca was thankful her bosses let her work all the overtime they had because it allowed her to have a time frame of when she would be leaving in two weeks the day after payday.

The only person who knew her plans was Sara which she was planning on going with Bianca because she loved it in Alaska not to mention it was her family’s cabin they were going to be living in until they found something else.

As Bianca got ready for work and Hope prepared to go to the Daniel’s house she began to start planning out the story she was going to tell her boss when they asked why she was putting her two week notice in.

She was also trying to think of a way to tell Tanya and James goodbye they had been parents to her practically since the first day they met her but even more so after hers rejected her.

After she dropped Hope off with Tanya she headed to work with so many things running through her head that she wasn’t paying much attention to the road to the point she had found herself about to take out a row of mailboxes.

She was thankful that no one had been around to witness that because a ticket was the last thing she needed right now. She cleared her thoughts and listened to the radio the rest of the way to work making sure she stayed on the road.

Once she arrived to work she went to the back and clocked in then went out to join in the department manager’s meeting then headed to the back again to talk with her bosses.

She sat down in the store manager’s office waiting for him to return from the meeting. “Hello Bianca what can I do for you today?” he asked walking into the office. “I need to talk to you about something that is really important and I’m afraid you won’t like it Mr. Sandusky.” She replied.

“Is there something wrong? Has something happened with the new layout or with one of the other employees?” he asked concerned. “Oh no everything is fine with the layout in fact I love it just about as much as I love everyone I work with.” She smiled at him.

“Then what is the matter?” he asked leaning back in his chair. “I just wanted to tell you that you have been the best boss anyone could ever have I mean you have been more than willing to work with me on my crazy schedule and even worked with me during the time Hope was ill not to mention the countless warnings over my being late without writing me up.” She smiled at him as she prepared to spill the news.

“You have been here quite some time now and you are a hard worker so of course I’m going to work with you on things.” He said smiling at her while trying to figure out what she was saying.

“That’s why this is going to be so hard for me but I need to put my two week notice in.” she frowned. “Why if there’s something going on at home I’m sure we can work around it without you having to quit.” He rushed out seeming a little upset.

“I wish it were that simple but my sister and I are moving out of state.” She said stopping at that not wanting to give him too much information in case they came looking for her. “I hate to hear that but if that is what is best for you and Hope then so be it we sure are going to miss you around here.” He said standing up.

“I am too I hate that I have to do this but it is the best thing for Hope and I, we need a fresh start at life and I figured I needed to move before she started school.” Bianca said as he pulled her into a hug.

“I’m glad you came to me and gave me a proper notice I really appreciate that.” He said sitting back down. “I wouldn’t have left here any other way you deserve to have a notice.” She said turning to walk out of the office.

“Bianca wait a second I’m going to need you to train someone to take your spot if you wouldn’t mind.” He said stopping her. “No problem just let me know who and I will get started training them as soon as possible.” She smiled heading out to get started on rearranging the men’s department to fit the new layout.

She worked by herself most of the morning into the afternoon. While she was on lunch Mr. Sandusky informed her that he wanted her to train Brody to take over the men’s department. She was in shock seeing how Brody had only been there a month when there were other people that had been there at least a year if not longer.

She didn’t expect to start training after lunch but it turns out Mr. Sandusky wasn’t kidding when he said he wanted her to get started right away. She was glad to have Brody’s help moving things around but something about him drove her wild.

“Mr. Sandusky was telling me that you were going to be moving away in a couple weeks to get a fresh start with your daughter.” Brody said as he moved a table. “Yep just isn’t anything here for us anymore.” Bianca replied aggravated that Mr. Sandusky had told him.

“What about the ASB?” he asked. “What about it?” Bianca asked becoming pissed. “I thought you have to attend until you graduate?” he said taking a step back. “I’m sick of being there ok, I’m never going to graduate because I’m never going to make it past Second Year status.” She growled.

“What do you mean that doesn’t make any sense?” Brody questioned her not quite understanding. “Pretty simple actually I’m never going to find my mate since I have a child with a human therefore I’ll continue being a Second Year, I’m already on my third go round of it and I’m sick of it.” She snapped at him.

“But a mate can’t deny their counterpart without becoming extremely ill besides mates are drawn to each other so in time you would find your mate and he would have to acknowledge you.” Brody said trying to reassure Bianca.

“Look Brody you may be optimistic but I’m not for one no male will even look me in the eye much less come close enough to touch me which you and I both know are two essential things to finding a mate.” She said turning her back on him.

“I’m just saying you never know and running from your problems will only bring trouble for you and your daughter.” Brody said stepping in front of her. “I’m well aware what can happen when you stop attending the ASB but I’m not worried about it because where we are going no one will ever find us.” she said walking away from him.

The rest of the day she ignored Brody unless it was work related. She couldn’t stop thinking about what he said about her finding her mate one day and the fact that running could very well bring trouble to her and Hope.

She felt as if her brain was going to explode from the overload of the constant second guessing of her plan. Bianca decided when she went to pick Hope up she would talk things over with Sara to see what she thought about everything Brody had said.
