Chapter 58: Chaos in the Ruan Family (2)
At this moment, Ruan Taoâs spoiled little princess persona was collapsing. The birthday party was grand but too flashy, which made people feel this was not right; the party was obviously used as a commercial operation.
[Is this the life of big bosses? Even the daughterâs birthday party is full of advertisements⦠the rich family seems to be short of money.]
[Hahaha, Iâm laughing to death. Fans of princess Ruan Tao will have trouble setting her wealthy character again⦠How about changing the script to the inspirational young lady who was sucked dry by her greedy relatives? I have thought about the draft for you; her father morally kidnapped her and used her birthday to attract investors. Poor Taotao was distressed!]
Back at home, Ruan Mingyi was seeing red. He had spent so much money for his daughterâs birthday but everyone was mocking him and comparing him to some kind of money-sucking vampire!
He picked up the phone angrily and yelled at his secretary: âWhat the hell are you doing? Why donât you delete these posts? Are you just letting people talk nonsense now?â
The secretary was scolded and screamed in his heart; these posts couldnât be deleted no matter how much they tried. Not only was it tightly protected, but also too many people were commenting.
âIdiots!â
Ruan Mingyi hung up the phone angrily and saw Ruan Tao rushing to him when he turned around.
Ruan Mingyi was already furious and he couldnât stand Ruan Taoâs cries very long. He suddenly hit the desk with the palm of his hand and snapped: âShut up! Why are you crying! Whatâs the matter with you? If you delay the companyâs future, this will be a big problem!â
Ruan Tao was taken aback by Ruan Mingyiâs expression and she froze in place. Aggrieved, bigger tears fell from her eyes and she shouted at her father: âYou only ever think about your company! You donât care about me at all! This is my birthday and you donât even care!â
Hearing her daughterâs cry, Mrs. Ruan also walked in the office and hugged the pale Ruan Tao with distress. She looked at her husband with some complaints and said: âWhy are you acting like that? Taotao is not in good health, can you please not scare her? Should she have another incident so you will pay attention to her? If you didnât only care about your company, would Taotao be in such poor health?â
In the earlier years, Ruan Mingyi was on business trips all year-round and sometimes his wife wouldnât see him for weeks. One night, as she had been looking for documents for Ruan Mingyi, an accidental fall had caused a premature delivery.
During labor, only nurses had been at Mrs. Ruanâs side, herself being in a daze because of medication. Later, she had learned about her daughterâs congenital heart disease and while there was no evidence this was related to the premature delivery, she had always felt this was Ruan Mingyiâs fault. Ruan Mingyi was also eaten by guilt and had spent all these years spoiling and pampering Ruan Tao to make up for it.
The unpleasant past was mentioned and Ruan Mingyi felt even more upset. He never talked about that with his wife and daughter because every time this was mentioned, everybody would get hurt. After hearing Mrs. Ruanâs words and definitely unable to calm down now, he cursed: âHavenât I been good to you all these years? Why do you mention this every time we quarrel? Is this whatâs important now? No, whatâs important is the company! You have been living so comfortably all these years, do you know why? Because I am taking care of both of you! If the new company doesnât work, our whole family will go bankrupt! Think about it!â
Because of his own self-guilt, he had let his wife and daughter do whatever they wanted all along, and they had long developed such ignorant and disagreeable temperaments.
But it was no longer a little problem but a real issue now. If his company couldnât rise again, the Ruan family would go down. They had been swept out by the Cheng family and if Ruan Tao and her mother kept bickering like that, it would officially be over. Bankruptcy was just a matter of time.
Mrs. Ruan could hear the worry in Ruan Mingyiâs tone and understood their family was in danger. She persuaded father and daughter to calm down and seeing that both women were no longer yelling, Ruan Mingyiâs anger eased slightly.
He pondered for a moment until he gritted his teeth and picked up the phone: âGo, withdraw our press release.â
Negative opinions about Ruan Tao or him kept increasing and it was the only thing to do at the moment. Ruan Mingyi was aware someone was orchestrating everything behind the scenes but the more he thought about it, the more he believed only one person could.
It was obvious.
But Ruan Mingyi really wanted to be wrong.
Would Cheng Su really destroy his Ruan family just for a little trainee who came out of nowhere?
It was really incredible.
When he had seen Qiao Dai backstage on the day of Ruan Taoâs accident, he had not liked that girl very much. Not only had she stolen his daughterâs spotlight, but when he had asked his people to replace the girlâs picture on the voting page, he had been caught by Cheng Su and lost face.
Truthfully, this was just a trivial matter and Qiao Dai was just a young trainee. Once heat passed, there would most likely be no interaction between all of them but Ruan Mingyi couldnât let it pass. He was accustomed to having everything go smoothly from him, and as a man who prided himself on being a successful person, there was no way he would accept a hit to his ego.
But this time, he didnât dare to provoke Qiao Dai any longer.
Hearing her fatherâs words, Ruan Tao opened her eyes wide and looked at Ruan Mingyi in disbelief.
Was he conceding defeat?
Why? Why should they give in?
Wasnât it basically announcing to everyone that she was not as good as Qiao Dai?
Thinking of this, Ruan Tao shouted in surprise: âDad!â
Ignored by her father, Ruan Tao ran away in tears and even pushed aside the maid who was delivering medicine to her. She slammed the door loudly and said she wouldnât take her pills at all; Mrs. Ruan tried to persuade her and went to quarrel with Ruan Mingyi afterward.
And when the whole Ruan family was in a mess, new information about Qiao Daiâs party was postedâ
A mysterious fan would provide a private island for Qiao Dai to celebrate!
At this moment, all netizens were stunned and couldnât help but think: Is this the even higher level than the little princess favored by the rich family?
