Chapter 10: The Thirteenth Tuesday
My Book of Wisdom
I chose The Thirteenth Tuesday because everyone wants the perfect day. Whether that's shredding the mountain with snow as you race down it, or spending a day on the beach with your friends and boyfriend/girlfriend, everyone has their own idea of the perfect day (and it usually happens at least once). When it happens -- I'm not sure. That depends on you.
Albom learned that Morrie's perfect day is so ordinary. There's nothing extraordinary about it. It's a perfectly normal day. That was the point. The point was that every day (no matter how ordinary) is perfect. I learned that. Well, that and Number 2 is nothing sniffle at. We're never always Number 1.
The thing that's important to take away from this is actually kinda cheesy and corny: not every day is good, but there's something good in everyday. I know that sounds like I pulled it out of a children's book, but seriously. Sometimes the best things are also the simplest. Proverbs 4:18 says, "The path of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, shining ever brighter till the full light of day." Now that's a perfect day.
